So I have to ask this question... Does the crew at Oxy live in a extra DIII bubble? it seems like they do not even understand that there is more to DIII than the boundaries of SCIAC. If I were the staff I would be heading to every solid program out there and learning everything I could to be successful, finding what works for my scheme and entertaining things outside my known box of tools, instead from what I see is a inane list of weak and ineffectual postings and moves that look just amateurish and if I were a prospective parent of an athlete who was looking or even being courted by Oxy I would say the Jr. High school level of confidence displayed would make me search elsewhere, just simply sad and to be honest disturbing.
I have to agree with you here.  I understand that most of Twitter is inane crap.  However, when you are in charge of recruiting, there should be a level of professionalism.  That being said, I doubt that his Twitter reach is that wide.
I hope that the recruiting includes lots of trips to high schools and lots of phone call.  God knows they have the time.

Another brilliant tweet from Oxy Coach Nick Ostlund.

Come to Oxy. Kneeling encouraged. Good grammar not required.

So the pre post season bracket is out and I see chappy could be coming to the Cruthedral... I think will be a great experience for the guys at Chapman. I hope it does break that way since the Cru have faced both HSU and Linfield already, nice to see new programs for a change.

I could understand trying to sound somehow relevant but again, this sounds more like a 10 year old got a hold of daddys twitter handle and is trying to sound grown up. News flash...get your happy butt on a plane and get to a UMU, UMHB, UW-Oshkosh, St. Thomas or hey, stay in your area of influence and get to Linfield, see how a successful program works, be there for games and grow a winning set of gonads. Selling your program as an "experience" is a sure loser since so far your wreaking of failure, you have a year (if this is true which I think it is not) use it to build a solid program, not an advertisement tweet fest that when read is laughed out of the room and cause for a punchline.
Seriously, how can SCIAC teams take you serious Occidental? get the F out of your stench bubble. I really feel sorry for players and alum that ya'll have to see this.

D O.C.

You are aware that the Athletic Director is second in the hierarchy. SHE fired the successful coach. She called off the season.

I am fairly active on Twitter and am just embarrassed for this coach and his shenanigans.  Kids are easily influenced by what gets put on Twitter (and other social media) and I honestly believe high school kids would look at this and laugh/roll their eyes.  I understand that staying positive is a big part of team Twitter accounts but I think the entire Oxy Athletics department was told exactly how to run their social media because they all read the same, and thats not a good thing in my opinion.

They hired some professional firm to help them in the recruiting process.  Whatever the hell that means

Exactly. This whole mess begins and ends with her.

Good idea. Even if they didn't want to get on a plane to see the top programs, they could look within their own conference for help. Even Whittier will have something to offer, just look at their improved depth/numbers this year.

Another question to consider is "what happens to this coaching staff?"  Cushman is staying, but what about the others.  Many of them were very late hires and you wonder about the quality of a coach that is still available a week before training camp

Within in SCIAC the program to look at in my opinion would be Pomona/Pitzer....they have sustained a program over the years with the highest of academic standards and in many years relatively small numbers of participants compared to D3 norm. From a competitive standpoint they usually fall below SCIAC midpoint but have proven from time to time they can make a run at the top....they just can't sustain it. The Kids play truly for their love of the game and are coached accordingly.

my example would be the Stags over PP...

I was raised in Claremont and my observations of both programs goes back to the sixties when the two were know as Pomona College and CMC...Claremont Men's College (thus the Stags). Went to high school with coaches and AD's sons of both schools and was just more impressed on how things were handled at Pomona not that CMC did anything poorly but those that were close to the programs l think would get the difference between the two and Pomona/Pitzer still maintains the same philosophy.  Another program back in the sixties that was interesting was La Verne's with Roland Ortmayer and his unique coaching philosophy...Ortmayer's brand of coaching still considered legendary by those who have followed "small College" football from that era.
