Word is that Chapman has benefited from the fall out over Humboldt's program. Looks like they may get a few players to bolster offensive and defensive lines which i'm excited to see.
Does anyone have an over/under on the number of games Oxy actually plays this year?
Getting D1 Fullerton players and running up the score is the reason they were not approved for SCIAC membership for a few years.  They had to wait until memories faded.  Why would only Chapman get them?
I am not saying that only Chapman gets those players, they can play anywhere. I am saying that Chapman may have just lucked out. We will know for sure when the rosters are released.

I played against those Chapman teams, and they were loaded with insane talent with the transfers from Fullerton & Long Beach State. First year we played them in 1994 at Chapman ended in a 14-14 tie. That game was an old fashioned slugfest.

I also played against that 1994 (loaded) Chapman team my senior year at Oxy. We beat them 30-20. I also think Laverne beat them that year as well. The next couple of years those bounce back kids at Chapman were much more dominant

Agreed. We got blown out in 1995 & 1996 by Chapman, but they had to forfeit quite a few wins in 1996 (including against us) for using ineligible players. Turns out they tried to squeeze another year of eligibility with their D1 transfers and got busted. The SCIAC was not happy about this, and definitely played out in Chapman being denied entry to the conference for so long.

The 1995 La Verne team (9-0) was the best I've ever faced. They were stacked with talent across all positions - size, speed, and good coaching. I've said many times here that they would have went far in the playoffs, potential national championship ability in my personal opinion. Back then only 16 teams were selected, and they did themselves no favors trashing their hotel rooms after a playoff loss to St. Johns in 1994.

Glad to see nothing changed at LV, they trashed the women's locker room at UR, in 2015 when they won the league championship.

This is pretty cool.  No idea how long he will stick but it could definitely open some doors.

Practice squad should be his goal, and even those slots are competitive to get. Good for him though, big accomplishment getting invited to an NFL training camp.

RFB,

Thanks for the input on Chapman and La Verne.

Sure thing. We ended La Verne's quest for a fourth consecutive SCIAC title in 1996. They were 8-0 coming into the game, and we beat them at their place in OT on the last game of the year. That was also my last game for Redlands and ended it with a SCIAC title. Great way to go out.

What a 2018 season!
