Kudos reality check.
That CLU stadium with the big wall at the South end of the field? Dangerous if you're coming in there at speed for a catch. Visitor fan friendly side where you can walk the field.

LINFIELD has played on these fields so I'll try a heads up:

Whittier a giant cement glob on the west side of the field for all fans. Teams take a hike to and from the dressing rooms. Fans take a hike too. Poor lighting when I was last there.

LaVerne should let the local high schools play there for free. Oh! wait, perhaps the high school fields are better. At least fans have movement on the field.

Chapman the best sterile environment money can buy. Last year everyone had to sit on the home side of the field.  I could not tell players without binoculars we were so far from the field. Very fan unfriendly environment. Hope they have a big screen this year.

(any chance ONU can upset UMU again this season?)

Lets pile on

La Verne, my least favorite place to watch a game. The only thing I like to do is sit by the LV coaches in the box and just listen to the frustration.
Those little plastic seats were built for someone that weighs 120 pounds. No leg room, use an outhouse to go to the bath room. Its a real gem.

Whittier, I enjoy the angle and view of the game. Logistics are horrible. The field was brutal but they fixed it last time I walked on it. I liked when they have the large screen up with their video feed.

CU, you are a little Harsh on the Panthers, take a stroll over to commons and get a latte. They have a student band playing. I like the new visitor side. Plus when is the last time you parked under the game you are going to watch?

The real dog to me is Oxy, wonder stroll thru to the campus, but one side field and those concrete bleachers are great to sit on.

I like CLU stadium, I think its the best in the conference. Right on top of the field, they add bleachers at the North end for big games.

Pomona, I have talked about it.. I like the fact you are close to the field, but that oak root in the end zone is more important than a kids ankle?

You asked if ONU could upset UMU this season. ONU last beat Mount in 2005. JCU upset Mount in 2016. I would say JCU has the best shot at an upset. I put ONU 2nd for a possible upset. But as we know, any team could pull the upset. What if Marietta won the game. Now that's an upset.
However; I see no upsets this year!
Good chance for #14. Go Raiders! OK, Go Wildcats too! ☠🏈🍺🍺
I'm old! I get mixed up and I forget things! Go Everybody! 🏈 ☠

Pretty sure OxyBob owns that oak tree

Reality,

You do a good job year in and year out. My only comment this year is PP being ranked higher than CU. CU gets some good players just due to the campus environment. It is really expensive but they have many players on near full aid packages. As you know the last 10 years UR has been in the hunt every year except one.
Why CLU has not been consistent is the real question, Coach Mac was talking dynasty and titles for a while, maybe one D1 QB and NFL player carried him. LV had one good year with a RB that wanted to and could not get into UR. CMS and PP are doing their best to get better but will never have the depth. LV is the sleeping tiger due to admissions. Keep up the good work.

I always struggle with ordering and predicting the teams and I don't just go off of name recognition.  Chapman looks to be filling a lot of holes after last year's success.  I also have to be honest and say that some schools are great about getting me more info than I can even use and others are more challenging.  I do the best with the info I am able to uncover.  I do enjoy keeping my hands in the DIII process though.

I liked the CLU stadium set-up.  While my players were stretching, I got the kicking tee out to get a couple toe poke field goals in.  I was 2/4 from 50 yards with all four being inside the uprights (two were just short of the crossbar).  I was pretty pleased with myself regarding distance and accuracy but I was not offered a roster spot as I understand CLU has a pretty solid placekicker this year as well.

Was the Oxy AD job ever advertised?
I just see an "interim" title slapped on the Dean of Students....have they hired an actual replacement?

I just saw that.  Apparently not.   Stay tuned.
Oxy seems to have a habit of needing new blood just before a season starts. :(

Oxy...

1) Progressive President hires new AD with very little experience...leave it at that
2) AD does not like Football, makes sure a guy who has done more for the school than she will ever do gets run out of the place. How much money has his players given back to the school?
3) AD continues lack of support for FB, Oxy now has sit downs in the president office and admin get hood winked by student group before UR game. Student Group, some walk off during the National Anthem and others disrespect the flag. Student protesting going to their 64k liberal arts school, irony
4) Head coach quits right before camp due to support, team collapses and folds for the year. Under the cover of safety issue for the players but their helmets were outdated, no on in SCIAC even wearing them. Safety my olddog fanny.
5) Alumni and some students not happy express their feeling, AD goes to safe place, then on leave...brings wife to business meeting for support
6) President issues some wishy washy letter, we can have FB but you all need to pay for it...and better raise a boat load of money in six months.
7) AD on leave, settles her worker comp stress leave?

That is progress folks, I can not believe they will get donations in the future with out parameters set.

Looks Like Chapman will scrimmage Golden West again this Friday. I can't make it, OC let us know how it goes.
Anyone hear if CLU will be scrimmaging a local JC this year? Whittier is a taking on Whittier Christian

Ill do my best to make it to the Scrimmage and give everyone an update. Living in LA makes weekday trips down to the OC difficult.
My prediction is that Chapman's offense will look pretty vanilla. I don't anticipate too much flash. Defensively CU will probably emphasis working on their coverage and their stunts up front. likely just some cover 2 and cover 4.

I noticed on the roster that Chapman has some more size, especially at LB and along the OL. Hopefully the trenches will be strong for the Panthers this year.

AD out, replaced not by one of the current associate or assistant ADs, but by Rob Flot, Oxy's vice president for student affairs.

Before coming to Oxy, Flot has held all sorts of touchy-feely college administration jobs: Dean of students and director of intercultural relations at Lake Forest College, coordinator of multicultural recruitment, retention and learning at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy, and a senior staff counselor, assistant director of student counseling and diversity training coordinator at Illinois State University. Nothing in his resume insofar as athletics.

This is a prelude to eliminating football for good. Oxy's team is doomed.
