Having missed most if not all of Whitworths season I have no idea about their character as a team, CMS seemed pretty fluid as a group but their PP game was a disaster, I was wondering if they were just short sighted thinking they had SCIACs title and who cares after that, or they gelled and plateaued out and are on the flat line for post season play. I'm trying to see CMS's pre playoff character as a program and it seems rather lackluster....your in the DIII post season get up!

So based upon the SCIAC watchers points of view we could see a St. Johns/ Whitworth game in Rd 2. If that happens are we all in agreement that Whitworth will fall to No.3 St. Johns? ( St. Johsn earned their #3 rank outright soooo)
And wouldn't that be an interesting run, St. John and the Cru facing off in game 3....#2 and #3 now THAT is a postseason! But I'd like to see Whitworth :)
Anyway, who knows, perhaps CMS can fool us all and rise up on gameday and move to Round 2

I'll say this---Whitworth should win this game (against CMS) but would it totally shock me if CMS pulled off the upset?  No--I say this because Whitworth has had a few games where they allowed inferior teams to stick with them for way too long (Lewis and Clark plus the late game rally by Chapman) AND because CMS has beaten a team or two that by all accounts had more talent and and should have beat them (I'm looking at you Redlands...and probably Chapman as well).

All that being said, I expect Whitworth to beat CMS and then to fall to St. Johns......unless they don't :) :) :)

It's just too bad it would be in the quarterfinals (seems like a Semi-final matchup at least)...

DFW the PP/CMS game is a huge rivalry game for both. They play for the "peace pipe" and they live across the street from each other. It takes about 3 or 4 minutes to walk between each other's stadiums.  One could argue that game was as important to CMS as their trip to the Pine Bowl.

That seems about right--it seems like CMS has been able to keep games pretty close with timely defense.  I'm not sure they will be put up many points unless they come out passing, with success, early and often.

As such a big rivalry, you would think it should have been as important to CMS as it was to PP. However, having already won representation of the conference in the playoffs, other than the rivalry, there was nothing to play for. I think it was apparent when CMS held Cheadle out the rest of the game after he got dinged, other than coming in for a couple of plays in the wildcat when he handed off both times (during the 10:30 minute drive against Redlands, he handed off once running that same play every down), they were playing to stay healthy the rest of the game. It was also not a great week of practice on the defensive side of the ball as they changed their game plan every day at practice and could never get settled. Not only was this the first time the players had won the conference, but it was the first time for the coaches too. Nobody seemed to understand what they needed to do in order to stay motivated. Hopefully that is not the problem this week. They may still lose, and probably should, but I expect both sides of the ball to have focus and a mission to accomplish this week.

I've entered the statistics from Whitworth and CMS into the Viscarian Football Projection Application I found on line on the Dark Web. (not available to most regular people) It projects a complete hologram of the entire game including cheer leaders and pep band songs that will occur at the game (along with a streaker in the 2nd quarter that ran over the popcorn machine on the sideline). I had to tweak several of the parameters because there may be chili eating contest nearby at the Pine Grange Hall that may affect the weather patterns in the area. Unfortunately after waiting 2 days for all the computations to formulate I received an error message that said the game was canceled do to a herd of goats that had eaten the field. I will try again later this evening for a better result.
