Great huh, SCIAC?

Don't look now but somebody has now beaten 2 pre-season conference favorites.

Indeed. The 3rd place SCIAC (NWC Champion) finisher will have to visit Orange, CA for a first round match up.

Now, you know Wildcat11 is not here to counter. 😙

Congratulations to Chapman on the win. They are an excellent team and should win out I would expect.

Next Saturday: No. 19 Chapman (4-0) @ Oxy (0-3).

Q: What do the Panthers vs. Tigers game and Oxy's college president between Richard Gilman and Ted Mitchell have in common?

A: Slaughter.

And I thought maybe Chapman would be overconfident now that they are in the top 25. :P

Well, a win would make OXY's 2019 season - and maybe the last couple as well.

Your right RFB...if Chapman runs it and they most likely will they probably get the West coast 3rd place team at home being a big favorite to move on to second round...hopefully nothing goes wrong for them because it would be a HUGE embarrassment if they lost at home to a 3rd place team.

Congratulations to Chapman on the win. They are an excellent team and should win out I would expect. Redlands got into too big of a hole with a listless first half. It was really shocking to watch as they were grossly unprepared for such a big game.

Credit to the coaches in making the necessary adjustments at the half and the players response. They played like the 4-0 team we expected in the second half. They just ran out of time and made too many mistakes. They still have a lot to play for and can end the season 9-1 which would be a great accomplishment.

RFB,

I disagree with you the defense made the adjustments, they moved the corners inside and took away the hash marks for the slot on those stop routes. The d ends quit getting washed so badly on zone read, stopped over penetrating and stretch it out...they played well in the second half. The offense is another statement, why did UR not once run screen the entire game. Every time it was second or third and long they brought at least 5, they were manned up across the board with zero help over top. Once block and you are off to the races. Why did we not run the hitch pass all night, they never had the free safety remotely close on the weak side. It was given to us the entire game. Why did we run speed option against a team with that much team speed,....we kept running it to the short side.
Why in the hell did we run the ball two times in the last series. Really 2 and 10 you run inside zone read, and fourth and 4 you run 28 stretch...has to be the worse call I have seen in a long time. Almost as bad a QB sneak with Goff ...Come on those coaches have been doing this too long. I love them to death and great guys but they have do better. Both teams are pretty equal both we got out coached on the offensive side.

BTW pretty cool fake punt, I don't know why the back up long snapper was in the game but it was there if the ball is not bounced, fake the hand off to get the deep guy to move and throw back...Can UR punter kick, wow...one ball was 65 in the air  ...would like to see a pro try out...Better than SC and UCLA guys

Hats off to Chapman, I really like their team speed, I like how they hold on offense (never got called so credit to them on nothing to not hold on forever), I like how they got away from that pistol and mix up. They are a really scrappy team, who can sneak up on other team. They are very fast on both sides of the ball and control tempo well. They deserved the victory.

Chapman was the better team on the night. Nothing more to be said at this point. The SCIAC will not get two teams in the playoffs, so Redlands will just have to regroup and do their best to win out and end the season at a very respectable 9-1.

The 4 down run was amazing.  I really believe the QB checked the play or the coaches had no idea it was 4 down.  If the standings hold, the playoffs can be very interesting.  I doubt the committee gives #1 MHB a top 25 Redlands team.  As we have seen, they do interesting things every year.  Has a top 25 team ever not made the playoffs?

Absolutely.  This happens pretty frequently.

Agreed, it happens all the time.  That's the downside to the automatic bid system.

Not sure what happened on that play call. We will not find out, but I believe the coaching staff thought it was 3rd down. Anyway, Redlands had plenty of chances in the 4th quarter to get the go ahead score and didn't get it done.

They need to regroup quickly and get ready for a CMS team that beat them at Redlands last year. This will be another tough game for them. Hopefully they will play pissed off with a chip on their shoulders.

Pat Coleman

In no way would I rule out a 9-1 Redlands team making the playoffs. They will definitely be in the mix.
