So Chapman is the St. Thomas of the SCIAC?
Exactly.
They would have been accepted as members earlier, but they ran up the score with D1 players that had come to them when Cal State Fullerton dropped football.  The other SCIAC members made them calm down.  If they start winning too much in all sports because they have 10,000 students, they may have to join St. Thomas.

I played against those Chapman teams. They had transfers from Long Beach State too. We tied them 14-14 the first year they had all those transfers in 1994. Bunch of **** talkers, all of them.

Pat Coleman

Chapman is pretty similar to St. Thomas, and Ithaca is as well.

I also played them in 1994 (my senior season).  We beat them 30-20

Yep, In regards to Azusa Pacific, they are on a similar path as Chapman. The have plans to expand another couple thousand student. They are buying up old churches near the school on Citrus and Shopping centers on Foothill. They built an arena that could be D1, better than half the WCAC and every facility they improve is to D1 standard. They too at some point want to join USD model. Right now they play D2, and outgrew NAIA. I can remember when the SCIAC played them in preseason games.
Less than two more years of Gavin.

They were fun to play. We beat them on the regular.

Nonconference, not preseason. There, I said it.

I remember the 1985 game -- APU vs. Oxy -- which featured the "Nigerian Nightmare" Christian Okoye for APU and Vance Mueller for Oxy. APU 31, Oxy 14.

Not really. Redlands is 6-14 all-time against APU, and lost 11 of the last 12 they played against the Cougars. UR won the '94 game. Was Dan Selway the QB then, or hadn't he yet started his 10-years of eligibility playing career with UR?

OB is on top of it. I will amend to my time playing there. We beat them in 1993 as well, and lost a close one my senior year in 1996 (26-19).

Danny Ragsdale dropped 600 yards and 7 touchdowns on APU in 1999. I played with Danny, he was a major twat.

That was a wild game. APU 59, UR 52.

Interesting. Ragsdale was awesome, but I didn't know that being a major twat was one of the qualifications for winning the Gagliardi Trophy.

Rino Marconi was the best QB to play for Redlands in the last 25 years. I will die on that hill.
