It would be fun to play Azusa and USD again. They were regulars on the schedule back when I played and we had some great games with them. USD is a different animal now, but would be no different than the talent level at UMHB. Also, USD has three former Redlands players/coaching grad assistants on their coaching staff.

Although it sounds like a decision has already been made, UR getting rid of Maynard during this time would give them extra time to replace him (if the season is canceled). I don't think it would be good to get rid of him as it would take a lot of work to keep a program together during a lost season.

D O.C.

Perhaps they do not care. Cut off the head, kill the program.

An announcement is supposed to come out soon (Mon or Tue) on Coach Maynard, either way the taint is great.

I agree with CMS, given this surge there will not be football this season in the SCIAC....they just don't have the testing resources. Young people cant stay away from each other etc.

Given schools will join CMS, in order to save money why would a kid not enroll at a JC online and only take one class at his SCIAC school...etc...
It makes no sense if there is not campus activities.

3100+ signatures in support of Coach Maynard including hundreds of written testimonials from former players, community leaders, parents, and friends. This whole farce of an inquiry is nothing more than targeted character assassination of a great man. We will soon see what the University truly stands for.

Looks like the Ivy League is going to play Spring Football, SCIAC should keep that option open too...even if short schedule...

Whittier, La Verne, UR, CLU need FB enrolled to survive

Is UR really in that bad shape?

No, the belief is they will withstand this year if enrollment drops due to Covid, the real issue is the school changed their enrollment goals. The school has made a push to grow and gain minorities. The school's goal is to be closer the to Southern Cal's demographics. This is being achieve by promoting commuter students, discounts, aid. This changes the student body and their school involvement.
Let's see how this pans out down the road in terms of donors. Its ironic the economy has flourish under this president, if POTUS changes along with Gavin taking us down a dark road, the Fed and State Grant aid will be under attack. State legislators were considering no Cal Grants for private schools due to the Newsome closing down the economy.

Olddog is correct.  The university has hitched its wagon to severely discounting the tuition for very low socio economic families and then relies on wealthy families to offset the cost.  Unfortunately, when the economy tanks, the wealthy families find cheaper options for college.  UR is doing a great job of alienating their alumni with the ever escalating cost of tuition.  Is it fiscally intelligent for a family to take out 100k+ in loans over 4 years?

When all of this started, I thought a remote fall semester would torpedo enrollments at private schools across the board.  I'm not so sure now.  Even if/when schools go remote this coming academic year, students would not get equivalent educations taking courses at a  JC.  The curriculum, the quality of faculty, and the pedagogies are just not the same, even if the modalities are.  Is the difference worth many thousands of dollars per semester?  Not for me to decide, but I disagree with the idea that all of a sudden Harvard = UofPhoenix.  Or that Redlands = SBCC, to keep it regional.

I have some friends with kids that just graduated from HS. One parent whose son plays a spring sport may send they kid to JC next year, full or part time, he is not sure. This is a local NAIA school in question.
How one would pay for private school online is beyond me, take a year off and make him work...He will beg to be in school next year. I heard Redlands is going to have the labs onsite in order to hook the students in.

I know a couple of JC teachers.  They are excellent. I'm sure they would look forward to many good students in their classes.
