PP and CMS will be fine $$$, given how difficult it would be to manage infections and herd immunity is not predicted soon in CA, I think SCIAC Football is cancelled. The real question do freshman football players go to class at their respective schools. What does this do to LV and Whitter? USD and Azusa will be interesting to watch, I don't know how D2 manages the situation any different than D3..

I say play an league only schedule in the Spring...if things get better

Hearing that if only 4 SCIAC football teams want to play, then they will play each other twice. Home and away.  At least the seniors will get some games in.

10,

Any guess on who would be the last four standing. My guess is LV,CLU,CU, and UR...I left Whittier off because I wonder if they will have enough players...

Oxy next ....and it maybe the programs death nail

Explain to my why women's golf would be cancelled in the fall.

The death knell for Oxy football came in May, 2012, when DW was fired by the incompetent and vengeful AD.

It's the only fair way to do things.

It's increasingly difficult to see how the LA County schools are going to be able to play football (or even have student residents, tbh).  Without the LA County schools, the SCIAC doesn't have enough teams left to go forward with a season per the conference's earlier release.

So yeah, it's looking pretty grim.   :(

I'm just going to bump this previous post to reiterate that LA County has not given the all clear for residential higher ed to resume in any kind of significant way.  Statements this morning by the presidents at Pomona and Scripps both make reference to this and it is a significant chunk of why they've made the decision to be exclusively remote this fall.  Without the LA County schools, there is no SCIAC football, per the SCIAC's own calculus

I agree olddog, Whittier may have enough players.  If they don't have football, they may be in trouble as an institution.  Whittier laid off 10% of their employees and everyone took a 10% pay cut.  UR laid off 5% of their employees, the President took a pay cut on his 831,000 salary.  He makes almost as much as the Chancellor of the UC system.  UR also laid off all of their top financial employees.  That is not a good look.

CA....JC athletics have moved all sports to Spring and schedules are 70% of normal. It makes too much sense. I don't know why the SCIAC can not figure it out. Sure games day may not be the normal times and teams will have to share practice fields but doable. I think the SCIAC should just bite the bullet come out with a similar plan and see where we are in November, so conditioning can start in Dec if spring sports look doable.

Really the only option left as California is locking down again today per Governor Newsom's order.

Sad thing is one sends their kid to UR for the small class room size, not to go online and pay thru the rear.
One would think their is a chance to play football since group protest does not cause the spread, lol.

Actually Orange County numbers are improving and should look better in a couple weeks. LA County is clearly the hot bed for the virus in the state. However I think we could play football and have a crowd however we cant call it a game we have to call this gathering a protest, therefor the virus wont do anything. Isnt that right Mayor G and the LA press.

Oxy has decided not to participate in Fall sports.

Correct me if I am wrong, but that brings the total to three SCIAC schools not playing: CMS, Pomona, Oxy.

Ironic Oxy stopped playing varsity football long before the Virus.
