It saddens me to announce this Thursday will be coach Maynard's last event as the Head Coach of UR. UR will hold an inter-squad scrimmage due to the fact the Regals had to cancel their scheduled game due to a strain of the flu from ???.

It is a shame because because CLU and UR have been competing against each other in other sports outside the woke league play.

It is ironic that school has said nothing and now Maynard will retire to Eastern Washington.

I know many that have stopped contributing to the school. If Maynard had stayed any contributions were going to direct to the football team either way.

More to come on this topic (Maynard), I a still pissed off at the Woke school and glad I am in the last third of my life and don't have to spend most of it witnessing America wilt.

No way for a legendary coach to go out. Mike Maynard is Redlands football, and the program will not be the same when he retires. The University should be ashamed of themselves, and it's going to be sad watching the program implode under Coach Good.

If Jeff Martinez is smart, he will contact Kurt Bruich at Citrus Valley HS (Redlands, CA) and see if he wants the job. He's an alumnus, was a great player at Redlands, and has a California state title under belt when he coached at Redlands East Valley HS (Redlands, CA).

A lot of discussion on the HC job and why not opened up. Some former football player alumni wanted to make runs at others including Jeff Thomas. I can only think this is damage control, less expensive etc.
I do know they have a fantastic staff, I think UR and Chapman have the best assistants. They both are highly respected in So Cal circles.

RFB...is Kurt Bruich the son of the iconic Fontana Steeler HS coach from years ago ?

Yes, Kurt is the son of legendary Fontana HS Coach Dick Bruich. Kurt played for his dad on the 1987 FOHI team than went 14-0 and was ranked #1 in the nation. There was no California HS state playoff back then. Kurt was a dominant receiver at Redlands, and was a senior leader on the team my freshmen season. Kurt has accomplished everything at the HS level already (State title and State Coach of the year). Redlands should put on the full court press as he lives and coaches locally in the Redlands community.

Yes, Don't rush through a replacement like Oxy did when replacing Widolff.

The University admin is in shambles.  They rush through a coach hire for the basketball program, the CFO leaves, the Dean of Students leaves, the President leaves and then they won't open the football job.  What are they afraid of with hiring an outside coach?  Your most successful program with the most generous alumni and this is how they treat Coach Maynard?  Very sad what UR has become.

Agree with everything except the hiring of Eric Bridgeland to lead the basketball program. He was a home run hire, and I was honestly shocked Redlands was able to get him. Basketball at Redlands has been a joke for a very long time, and they now have a leader who is a phenomenal coach.

I agree on the hirer.  Making the point that they opened the basketball job, but not the football job.  A head coach job should open to the outside.

Agree. Redlands is a top 25 program and I'm sure would have attracted a lot of great candidates.

There was some deal made, Covid messed it up from looking cleaner.  I will dig more. I personally think Maynard was out the minute it went to the committee, in his mind (betrayed) and theirs. I think the whole delay was some kind of deal for both sides to get what they both wanted. UR did not want to get tied up in lawsuits, wanted him out but would not say why..  because he is not woke etc,
If you were Maynard and had done what he had done for the school, would you stay, played along with a large team size, football players and their contributions to the school are well known. Additionally,  Back before the UC crisis hit... whites and asian could no longer get in they counted on Maynard bringing 50 males a year in...sure beats some pop up tents at a high school recruiting.

So the other question I have of which I will never get the straight answer and why they wont get any funds upon my death, who ordered the review? who wanted to handle it this way?

This decision to handle it this way cost them dearly...for years to come. Every ex player I know, throws up a big middle finger...

If my memory is correct Dick left Fontana and went to new Kaiser H.S and quickly made them a power house and Fontana became Fontana as we know them now. I assume Kiritimati was with his dad at some point at Kaiser. Sounds like Kurt same pedigree as his dad. Redlands would be nuts not taking a hard look a Bruich.

UR is already taking in the shorts financially because of this.  Only 10 people donated on behalf of the football program from giving day this year.  Last year it was over 100.  Maybe they want football to die.  Very sad they are taking this route.
