UR is already taking in the shorts financially because of this.  Only 10 people donated on behalf of the football program from giving day this year.  Last year it was over 100.  Maybe they want football to die.  Very sad they are taking this route.

Shocker. Treat a legendary and beloved coach like ****, and his former players of 30+ years might give you double middle fingers.

That's pretty telling, for sure.

We had a great season last year too, I ran into a few players this weekend. They laughed when I ask them about donating, Pat would not like me to say what they said.
I think they still want football, they are not prepared to have a drop of 40 to 50 players a year, plus stigma of school with out football. This school is in the IE where football is still very popular.
Wanna go broke, go woke ...is the lesson here.

Crickets on Maynard's departure. Maynard is so well respected, done so much to build that school up. Very well respected by all local HS coaches.

I just heard a local coach tell their kids if you want to play for a program ran more like a 1-AA, Maynard is the man for small college football in So Cal. Silence is not UR's friend, hearing something might be done privately for him by ex players but nothing from the school that he dedicated his life's work.

Very sad that the University would treat Coach this way.  Shows you where their priorities are.

Coach Mac at CLU steps down.

I love to tease the Regals but always liked and respected coach Mac, always very nice to me..gentlemen, big loss for CLu

The big ?, why, lack of school support ? ....sad times

Azusa Pacific's head coach took a D Coordinator job at Hawaii a year before they closed down.  I wonder if Mac sees the writing on the wall the SCIAC football is in trouble?

Looks like Mac is taking a head coaching job at Grace Community School (Private High School, Tyler Tx)

Mac is a good dude.  CLU seems like a good job but who knows now with budgets, cost of private schools, financial aid, etc.

I see that RFB left the board.  Understand as I took a bit of a break too.

Hope you come back eventually, RFB!

Not much going on in Tyler except football and Ralph Turner.

I have been to Tyler. Stanley's Famous BBQ is quite awesome.

Anyone notice on the Regal's football website, only four coaches listed, now three that Mac is gone. Something is going on at CLU, more than Mac wants to leave CA.
This was his dream job when I spoke to him about 5 years ago, loved where he was in life with FB and family.

I wonder if the program is facing budget cuts over the next few years and why deal with it. Heck take my equity in my home and have almost no house payment, kids go to school free. Not a bad formula

There is something going on at CLU - bad administration. Look at what they did with the basketball programs. Coach Mac left his "dream job," his alma mater, for a HS job in Texas. Same coaching staff that won 4 SCIAC titles now has consecutive sub par seasons. I think he saw the writing on the wall that CLU was not committed to winning anymore and he was out. The current basketball coaches werent even hired/interviewed by the sitting AD. The women's hoop coach left for a JC job (women) and the men's coach left for Waynesburg (men) after 2 years. The new president doesnt have a track record of good athletic support or success. And of course covid in CA doesnt bode well SCIAC sports, let alone football.

He wanted to win......

Gray Fox

All the coaches want to win.

Oxy, Redlands, and now CLU.  Who will be next in the SCIAC?

True, but what all coaches really want, is a "chance" to win.  Dont think that was available anymore for Coach Mac.

olddog

So UR has to recruit a new president out of South Carolina....I really wonder why you could not find someone from So Cal...understands all the dynamics...
I can remember when SCIAC schools did not have to look so hard for help. I sure hope we do not get some La Verne type hype videos.
