Did not want to hurt your feelings Oxy Bob, sorry if I offended.

My feelings aren't hurt. Oxy football was killed by vendetta in 2012. It was declared brain dead and lingered on life support until the plug was pulled in 2020. RIP. The murderer went scot-free.

CORRECT.  They were able to use COVID as the scapegoat.  Not even in the cold case file.

There were two murderers in 2012: the AD and the President.

As a doctor, it amazes me that the program was on life-support for so long?  Amazing resiliency!

Good nurses.  But they had to go to COVID ICU units.

Doctor D, here is why Occidental being dismantled is shameful.
This guy was so fun to watch.
I'll let OxyBob let you in on how those storied seasons ended, if necessary.

Wow.  Touching tribute.  Sad story.  Thanks for sharing.   I think that college football needs Oxy and other small programs because of stories like this.

AC was awesome. The greatest QB ever at Oxy (with apologies to Jack Kemp). Justin Goltz, who was interviewed in the video, was no slouch. He played 4 seasons in the CFL.

The 2006 game against Cal Lutheran referred to in the video is this one:

Key play was AC's 4th and 7 first down run in 4th quarter. Last play of the game: 59-yard FG attempt by CLU's Connor Pearce went just under the crossbar.

Collins was an incredible player.  Still hold him in the highest regards to this very day.

OxyBob,
You forgot to mention that the CLU QB was traitor Danny Jones.  He abandoned his teammates the next season and won a D3 chapionship with his new team..  >:(

UR played ok this weekend. What I liked was our QB  and RB (not big but finishes strong). Our O line is big and very slow. Going to be a point of contention all season. Our D front is solid no all world players but holding GF to less than 30 yards rushing says it all. Our Dbs need some work, seem to be out of position all night and did not tackle well in first half. I think they will get better, our SS's improved as game went on.

In short UR was the better team and won, but a lot to clean up. O/A UR looked too fat and slow. Its clear there was not a lot of on campus conditioning. Next week is huge in terms of clean  up.

Did anyone see Cal Lu has only had  800 folks in attendance? wow
Less than two more years of Gavin.

Anyone know about Lincoln University in Oakland, CA?  They are playing Whitworth this weekend and have a pretty ambitious schedule with Stephen F Austin and some other NCAA D2 schools.

I was at the Cal Lu game and it was a packed house!  Full capacity on home side and about 80 or so away fans, so I would say attendance was in the 2300 range.  The team played well.  New QB has a strong arm (he really had 4 TD passes, but refs said receiver was down on 1 yard line on two different plays) and the receivers were open all night.  I don't think Southwestern U. is a strong team.  Cal Lu defense kept them to ZERO yards receiving.  We ran for almost 200 yards and O-line is much better.  My son says the coaching staff is much improved, but there were a few mental mistakes that need to be cleaned up.  Hope they continue to play well and improve.  Lugo off to a great start as Head Coach!
