I would be surprised to see the conference winner/playoff rep be undefeated. Book your flight early to Portland Folks, some decent wine up there.

From the "Ranking the Conferences" article today.  The good news: There are 27 Conferences.

15. Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference

            2019 ranking: 11
            Non-conference record: 9-5
Signature win: Cal Lutheran 37, Southwestern 7

There's just not a lot of meat on the SCIAC bone this season — and not a lot of opportunity with limited willing travel partners to and from Southern California. The SCIAC has played five non-conference games against conference teams. Occidental has left the conference, which actually helps a bit as far as these rankings go. Chapman and Redlands playing well below their playoff-caliber 2019 selves has contributed to the SCIAC's regression in these rankings. Cal Lutheran is the lone undefeated team in the conference

Grey,

2020 I think would have been a solid year for SCIAC too. I know CLU and CU are on the younger or less experienced side. LF exposed our O line and DB's. The LF team is good and with new LB and DB coaches we got exposed a bit too, our inverts struggled against pass and corners gave up too much room, FS was late all night. I expect CU and CLU to be better next year, not sure on UR yet, depends if I see improvement in our O line and DB's ....QB will be a big hole for UR next year

ASC is overvalued in that current ranking, IMO.  UMHB is great but who besides them has ever done anything of note outside their conference the past 10 seasons?

The NWC was much better off when PLU and Willamette were in the hunt year after year.

I don't want to sound like a broken record but I will. CMS/UR game is at least a 14 point win if Mike Maynard is coaching UR. Way too many third down issues. UR beat themselves.
UR is suffering from the loss of key assistants on defense. We are a tick below average this year. Yes we might have the best QB in the league, yes we have some solid RB and WR...but a young O line, average LB and weak DB makes us very average.

I was not happy with the teams mannerism, taking helmets off before off the field, and general look at me attitude that is hitting the program. It is work to maintain what UR had before.

I agree.  My wish is that UR opens the football job after the season.  There are some alumni, Maynard has a huge coaching tree, that are very successful at the D3 and other levels.  They would love to have this job and have earned the chance to apply for it.

The most frustrating thing for me was, after two weeks off and getting boat raced by LF, UR goes out and lays an egg.

It's always illuminating to read Old Boy's post-game analyses (most gratefully when he eschews opining about politics  8-) ).

I watched both the live broadcast and Presto's replay. What a gutsy effort by QB Nathan Martinez in the final two minutes. He scampered for 21 yards deep into CMS territory, threw a TD pass to First Year WR Evan Aguon and then shot through for our 2 point conversion.

Old Boy is spot on, as usual, that Redlands should've won by 14. I propound that we threw away 10 points on two freakish mistakes. 3 points were lost on a blocked chip-shot FG by our kicker who was 2/2 on PATs. Even more freakish, by a country mile, was Martinez throwing an INT when the Bulldogs were a couple yards away from a touchdown.

Of considerable concern is our penchant in recent years for perpetrating dumb unsportsmanlike conduct penalties, such as yesterday's for roughing the passer. If the Bulldogs gift yardage like that to Chapman or CLU, then a defeat could get "Linfield Ugly". Given that the Panthers play at our Homecoming game and CLU on our Senior Day, I'm remaining optimistic that the Dawgs will prevail against at least one of those tough, well-coached opponents.

Again, Muchas Gracias to Old Dog for his insightful commentaries.

It is nice to hear you Redlands supporters talk about your team, as we all love our teams.  However, Old Dog says that you have the best QB in the league, and that would certainly be debatable.  CLU and Pomona-Pitzer both have GREAT QB's.  CLU's ranks 20th in the nation in passing efficiency and P-P's QB is a dual threat kid that can do it all!  This weeks game between them should be a shoot out.  2019 game was crazy, close and high scoring, and I expect the same Saturday.  If CLU wins, the following week they play at Chapman for what may be the conference title.

CLU, Dr D. You must not be a real doctor like our County of LA Health Dept Leader.  (that was for you Poe13) ....having fun boys ....I said "Might"

In regards to stats and rankings I hate them, all that matters is Wins and since we have a playoff...no one ask what your passer rating or did you get Top 25 votes last October. PP QB has to throw more, since they have no running game, then throw in the patterns and call...stats are meaningless....hence ratings all not the main stat..."W"...

I have seen Oxy QBs throw for a million yards and lose by 40...

Good Day Fellas

Old dog, FYI, I am a veterinarian.  Therefore, I should be able to treat you, and if you continue this behavior, we can alter you!  :)  I think Pomona Pitzer has one of the best QB's in D3 football, irrelevant of statistics.  he is fast, quick, and has a good arm.  CLU has a strong armed, traditional drop back passer and good decision maker.
Good Day!

No playing around, just hire the LINFIELD guy.

Dr. D got CLU and Chapman playing for the championship. However I think this week is a big for UR, they need to go out and execute across the board, make or break. I still think they have slightly more talent than CLU, and Chapman is really small up front, but always ready for UR.

In regards to LV, It wont be fun trying to get this body into one of those Barbie seats...LV stadium is brutal if you shop in the Big and Tall section.

Olddog,
La Verne has a decent QB, and a very small and shifty WR ( I remember him in HS playing against our team), and that is about it.  They have NO kicker or punter and scored one TD against CLU on a 4rth and 12 Hail Marry 60 yard deflected and juggled pass at the end of the 3rd quarter.  The score could have been a lot more one sided.  They went for it on 4rth down about 10 times.  Redlands should handle business.  Lastly, if Chapman loses to CLU next Saturday, the Chapman vs Redlands game may be for 2nd place.  If that happens, than Redlands would have a chance to stop CLU's undefeated season.  Granted, a lot needs to go right for CLU for this to come to fruition, but I still think that if the get past Chapman, it looks good.
