So.... does the winner of the CMS vs PP game get the auto bid? Or is there some other tie breaker I'm not aware of?

If PP wins there would be co champs and the "Rose Bowl Rule" would be in effect.  The team that went the most recently would be left out.

Is that still the tie breaker for the SCIAC even when it's a two team tie and one team has the head to head victory?

Stag,

I guess we will find out, being a 17 point dog to CMS, is like Cal to USC this Saturday...
Well, we found out.  Sure didn't see the drubbing that CMS put on Redlands coming.  Also didn't see Cal hanging pretty close to USC....

CMS and Pomona-Pitzer have never met at the end of the season to decide the SCIAC Champion and Pomona-Pitzer has never won a SCIAC Championship in its existence as Pomona-Pitzer.  The last Championship Pomona won was in 1956 when Pomona and Claremont were combined for an athletic department.   The two teams will meet on Saturday, November 12th at 1:00 p.m. to decide the Sixth Street Champion, the SCIAC Champion, and the automatic bid into the NCAA tournament.

Rose Bowl Rule does NOT apply in a two-team tie. That's always determined by head-to-head.

It matters little to me who is considered a champion -- I only care who gets the automatic bid.

D O.C.

Remember the year you covered both Pomona Pizer and Claremont Mudd Scripts the same Saturday, Pat?

Pat Coleman

I do -- then I went over to Oxy-Linfield that evening, and I actually started off doing play by play on the Oxy broadcast because Craig Dunkin was stuck in traffic. :)

This is great for the conference. That game is going to be intense.

Bring back Oxy's football program!

Congrats to CMS, making the dogs look horrible except for our punter..(which is not a team goal, 47 ave) . Losing 0-42 speaks for itself across the board. All I got to say is CMS linemen move so much better than ours both sides. A lot to fix in the offseason. We have to get quicker.

CLU finished the year UGLY.  They need new coaching and better recruiting.  CLU was out coached in every facet of the game Saturday, and every Saturday.  Sad.  Defense was optional all season, and they never made adjustment.  We ran the ball early with success every game, and the offense never continued what worked.  Turn overs, missed FG, blocked punts, you name it, they were not coached well.
As for Redlands, I was truly surprised, but CMS is the best in the SCIAC this year.  They are solid on both sides of the ball and Edwards is tough to bring down.  I predict a 20 point win vs P-P Saturday.
Fun fact.  My son's high school teammate (DB) made in interception for Chapman Saturday night in the first quarter of the game, and my son (OL) made the tackle (In HS he was a good D-Lineman and played both ways).  Good memory in a tough senior season for my boy who had a great year individually, but truly could care less unless the team is successful.

Sorry for the frustrating season Doc. Glad your son got thru it healthy.
