Would love to know the real reason for Coach Mac wanting to leave, he is a good guy, loves his family, all the best to him.
I used to think if any school could challenge on a National Level it was CLU and or UR....Now the only flicker is UR...Chapman's admissions make it tough for them.
The reason is CLU is now WOKE and the new Athletic director cares more about Equity, than winning!  Ben is a Christian man who loves God and his family, and the writing was on the wall, so he got out.

Redlands opened their new tennis facility, it is very nice.  Any word on the athletic building there were trying to fund raise for?

You guys want to spin your tales about "woke" -- that's fine. But leave politics out of it, or I'll keep deleting posts.

Pat,

Tales of Woke, what the hell would you call it....btw I am a registered Independent and don't watch Fox News. I cringe at Trump. Fiscal conservative, social liberal..Enlighten me on the proper term please.

I was recently with some Oxy folks involved in saving the football program (how they got played on their fund raising)....The "W"...or "Term Pat will give me"  Admin did not think they could do it, then when they did....they went back on their word. Clearly the attack to eliminate football came from a certain group of people that wanted to eliminate anything that represents strong masculinity. Ask any old Oxy player.  If I am wrong Pat why did they want to drop it?  Why did the Whitter president drop FB and LC? Why did Maynard get ran out? Why did Redlands President leave? .... Its a clear movement hitting all colleges why pretend it does not exist, give me the proper term? Is there a list adjectives that are allowed on this forum? Its sad we are now being censored from talking about a real movement towards football in America. It will eventually affect your core business too, as us old guys die off.

Oxy has a huge endowment so it was not a funding issue, Why did they drop football? Look at how many "male" minorities football could help bring in, but that did not matter this time, did it? .....AD was out to get FB coach and football...despite all the great alums of all races the HC created, new Pres backs hers..Wella he is gone over nothing "emails", now we are scared to say what is happening in D3 Football and America....it's shocking you can not see the movement

Pat.  I am merely pointing out the facts.  Have you met the new A.D. at CLU?  I have.  She is a LBGTQ member who has an agenda of Equity, not equality.  Equity has no business  in varsity sports.  I am all for Equality, and I am an American who immigrated to America.  I am no right wing conservative, but rather a Libertarian.  So what is the proper, ok, term to use when we are talking about the current University indoctrination philosophy of Equity?

olddog

The only thing that will save Football in American is how profitable it is on TV...O/W the media would be attacking it left and right. Its sure it ironic...Hollywood does not go after football or UFC...One of the most "W" organization in the world...ABC...and their big money makes are FB and UFC

I didn't say you couldn't say Woke ... I just said to leave the politics out. I know you both saw the posts that I deleted, because one was from each of you. If you can't remember what was said in those, I'm sorry to hear that.

Hum, I guess its just ironic on the west coast what is happening when people of certain social, personal and political belief take a position of leadership in Athletics ...Just irony these male sports go away, despite being some the greatest alumni donors in school history.

The last President at the U of Redlands was all about doubling his salary, which he did, while the school got hurt financially.  The tennis facility was only completed because the big donor threatened to take their money away if Redlands didn't build it.  The train station on campus has sucked up a huge chunk of available cash and if they can't get the property developed by the train station, good ole Redlands will be in financial trouble as bad as Whittier.  Look how many C level employees have jumped ship in the past few years.

Ron Boerger has been posting endowments by conference on the "Future of Division III" page.

Here are his comments today and the SCIAC rankings.

Here are the rest of the endowment per college, per D3Playbook.com.  I don't have time to do all the fancy formatting or add ",000" to all the entries as I did yesterday, so these are in thousands (e.g. Oberlin's actual endowment is just over $1.2 billion, not $1.2 million).

Don't see a college you are interested in?  Propublica.org maintains a wealth of publicly available information about non-profits; many have yearly financial audits which contain information about endowments.  If you know the EIN of a school add it to the end of https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/organizations/ leaving off the dash [e.g. https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/organizations/741161940 for Mary Hardin-Baylor], otherwise just go to Propublica.org and search on the school name.

SCIAC
Caltech, $3,635,000 (-4.47%)
Pomona, $2,749,865 (-9.40%)
Claremont McKenna, $1,142,670 (-6.50%)
Chapman, $580,821 (+2.29%)
Occidental, $575,933 (+0.02%)
Scripps, $460,616 (-14.70%)
Harvey Mudd, $401,525 (-9.51%)
Redlands, $232,004 (-10.50%)
Cal Lutheran, $133,136 (-8.14%)

10,

You are correct on the train depot project. They are a homeless haven, city of Redlands has permit, height and anti growth issues. Good money chasing a bad idea. The "Goldline" in So Cal is a huge failure, highly subsidized, despite declining ridership (crime)  ...again part of that movement that knows better than the majority...but their leaders don't use it.

Interesting concept.  A conference Championship game for the SCIAC. Unless other teams join the league, I don't see the SCIAC surviving.

Welcome to the world of great SOS for your champion team.

It's a shame what's happening to SCIAC football at the moment, but if the conference can weather the storm for a few more years then they may come out to something better on the other side.  California is cactus, as we say Down Under when something has broken, but there is a floor as to how broken things can get.  An ugly floor, yes, but a floor nonetheless.  I reckon CA isn't too far off from smashing head first into that concrete bottom.  If the SCIAC can hold itself together until then, then it will have the opportunity to walk free from the rubble.

Pat Coleman

They're playing a double round robin within their division (accounts for four games) and one game against teams in the other division (three games) plus the final crossover/championship game.

Not sure the SCIAC will have the same SOS boost because it really depends on the conference winning its non-conference games.

This is just dumb. Why would a recruit go somewhere to play the same teams multiple times a year? I would be curious to see how many schools really rely on football to boost enrollment, especially La Verne. I'm not sure if anyone else is floating the idea of dropping football, but one more school doing it pretty much signals the end of SCIAC football.
