Saturday Night, props to the defense for shutting down the Regals. Your QB had his worse game, we brought a little more pressure this week and he did not check down much and stayed on his deeper routes. Thanks for the gift, the Regals ground came was horrible. No answer for our 3-3-5. Our Inverts had a field day making plays.

On offense, the O line blocked pretty well. I too did not understand what the Regals were trying to do up front. The Regals covered the gaps weird sometimes, especially the back side cut back. The Regals DB looked like they never have done a tackling drill. Horrible coming up to make hits around the 5 to 7 yard mark.
Our backs ran well, and Qb's did not try to do too much which was refreshing. We will need an even better effort next week, CMS D line is better than the Regals, and they park 8 in the box until we throw it. Clearly our line does better run blocking than pass.

Less than two more years of Gavin.

Props to Redlands for doing what they should be doing all season.  Run the ball and pressure the QB.  The CLU O-line is terrible, but the QB, receivers are good.  The pressure got to Andrade and on defense, the DBs were bad--they do not ever practice live tackling at CLU which shows.  Chapman put a good first half together and held on to win against CMS, which makes SCIAC wide open.  I put Redlands as the front runner if they continue to keep it simple on offense and pressure the QB on D.

Should be a good game.  Stags O was at it's absolute worst against Chapman (pick 6 and two fumbles inside their own 20).  Offensive line is finally healthy which has helped the running game get back on track.  Cal Lu has by far the worst D in the SCIAC.  I think we could have put up 70 points that game if the QB play was better in the first half.

They are bad, but really?  CLU has to be better than La Verne?

I thought their DBs were worse.  Of course, CLU also had 8 in the box most of the game.  I suspect Redlands will do the same.

MMMM.  La Verne put up 17 points against CMS and zero against CLU.   CLU is bad, but they beat La Verne 55-0

La Verne's strength is their defense (which is a nice way of saying their offense is horrible).

But yeah--Cal Lu is probably the better defensive unit (which isn't really saying much).

Hello All,

While I will be following from afar WashU's efforts against North Central, Saturday, it won't be idle following.

I will be in the midst of my Rett Gets Rocked 2023 24-hour ultramarathon at WashU to raise awareness of Rett syndrome and research funds to find a cure.  I'm starting around 8:00 Friday night (after I provide the call for the WashU-Saint Louis U. swimming and diving meet), and ending at 8:00 Saturday night.

Rett syndrome is a neurological disorder caused by a gene mutation on the X chromosome.  It lays in the weeds until a child is between 6-18 months old, just when a child is learning to walk and talk.  Rett is like Lucy in the Peanuts comic strip when she pulls the ball away from Charlie Brown, as he tries to kick it.  Unlike Charlie Brown...when Rett pulls the ball away from children, they don't get a chance to get up and try again.  Children go into severe neurological regression; many end up in wheelchairs and most lose the ability to talk and to do sign language.  Those with Rett also are prone to seizures, extreme nerve pain, GI issues, breathing abnormalities, and eating difficulties that can all be life-threatening.

Researchers are relentless, providing hope on two fronts.  Back in March of this year, Daybue became the first FDA-approved drug to target the effects of Rett syndrome.  Daybue helps blunt some of the seizures and has helped improve some vocal and gross motor skills.  Gene replacement therapy clinical trials in two North American locations have helped one patient sit up independently for the first time in a decade, and to grasp objects for the first time since infancy.

It is this momentum of hope and progress that I am trying to assist and perpetuate.

The families of children who have Rett and fight a tough fight every day, will be very grateful for your help.

Thank you for your time and consideration, and enjoy the games this weekend!

Redlands are a shell of their former selves. That's what happens though when you treat a legendary coach like crap and show him the door without even a proper celebration and thank you for 30 years of dedicated service. Karma's a bitch, so reap it Redlands.

Seriously, I don't remember who was the coach that finally beat LINFIELD?
Wasn't it Casey?

Chapman did a great job of exploiting the weak CLU offensive line and caused the QB to throw several interceptions.  CLU is average on defense (AT BEST) and so one dimensional (No Run game) that they may not win another game this year.  Chapman will contend with a new, decent QB.
Redlands was disappointing.  They have a strong runner and do not utilize him properly-defense is better than average SCIAC D, but weaker than last year.
Pomona will struggle to beat CLU next week, it will be close.  P-P is weaker than last few years.
CMS run game is not what it has been and Edwards is still struggling to find big plays which makes them less explosive and more methodical on offense-while the D is solid.

StagLove

Redlands completely sold out to the stop the run.  There was 8 in the box on nearly every down.  They weren't even attempting to cover the slot WRs.  Once Kulenkamp settled down, he was able to hit the open WRs and the offense got moving.   Redlands has a decent RB and their third string QB can run, so they can control the ball at times.  However, neither backup QB can throw (starter is out) and they are very one dimensional.  Difficult to beat a decent team if you can't throw.

So correct me if I'm wrong but SCIAC championship game will be the winner of Redlands/Pomona vs Chapman (unless they lose to LaVerne).

Correct? Any idea how they decide where the game is played?

That is correct, but I have no idea where it will be played. I am guessing if Redlands wins this weekend they will host Chapman, but if Pomona wins, they will travel to Chapman.
