Quote from: RFBredux on September 21, 2024, 06:44:47 PMJim Good is 27-47 as a Head Coach. I've never seen a worse display of offense in 30+ years as a Redlands alumnus and player within the program. It took him less than 4 seasons to rock bottom the program. He needs to go at the end of the season.
Like Calcat said during the game--this is the worst Redlands teams we've seen in recent history.

And that was against a good, but not as usual great/strong Linfield team. I shutter thinking what this Redlands team would look like against some of those past Linfield teams.

Nice call on that game!

It's bad in Redlands.  Terribly bad.  0 touchdowns on the season, have given up 9 sacks and only have 1 on the season, are 4-27 on 3rd down conversions... CMS beat George fox yesterday and had 19 first downs, Redlands has 20 first downs on the season.  Gonna be a long season in Redlands while they meander in the maze of mediocrity.  Ineffective leadership needs to change at many levels at UR.

It's comically bad. I watched the offensive line on offense mostly for the game, and they can neither run block or pass protect. Why even run a spread system if you don't have the personnel to be effective.

Run an option based system or advanced Wing T system like the Gun T or something like that where you can at least have a lukewarm chance of success.

My Thoughts on UR

When the [political content removed] found a way to boot successful Mike Maynard, Cheap UR gave Good the job and never gave him an OC.
UR is now paying the price in some many regards. Donors stopped donating and UR stopped scoring on the field. Jim Good is a solid person and I like him. He does not want to be the OC. He is a good recruiter. He knows he needs an OC.
Until the mentality changes at UR its going to be frustrating to watch, If you can not keep up with CM or Chapman.....UR fans will be accepting less. The next coach will face the same issue so lets not pretend something will change with a new coach.

I agree about the next coach, there won't be one.  UR won't fire Good or the SCIAC won't exist and neither will UR football.  As far as hiring an OC, if Coach Good really wanted an OC, he would march into the AD office and ask why they had money to hire the AD buddy in Geoff Roche and not an OC. UR keeps expanding the administration, by won't hire where it really counts for results.  Sad state of affairs at UR.

Old Dog getting edited?  Free speech? Hmmm?

Yep sad, the UR Board is liberal (I prefer the adjective woke) ....Masculinity is one of the targeted agendas IMO...across America and in amplified in colleges. Sad state of affairs, I see so many kids under 35 not open doors for ladies, tap out when they chip a finger nail, and whine if there coach yells at them. Its a bad trend, in the US and really the world. Imagine doing a 3 hour practice with no water break, these kids would tap out in groves. My dad would have told me I am pussy cat.

This mentality affect football, is the product better now versus 20 to 30 years ago...Nope

Playing sports like Football takes physical and mental strength, but it is ultimately a game of masculinity whereby one man has to overpower another man to succeed.  There is NO disputing that in this game we love, but it does seem that many college campuses are against men and maleness--instead quoting "toxic masculinity" as a problem?  While the athletes are physically bigger, faster, and stronger, most athletes are mentally weaker because feeling matter more than reality, now a days.  Everyone got trophies as kids and feel they deserve stuff like "at-a-boys" without earning it!  Keep preaching Old Dog.

27-47 as a head coach. I'm quite sure there a better coaches out there than Jim Good. Hell, there is one already in Redlands that I would call and see if he wants the job, but that's just me.

SoCalLance

SCAIC play officially kicks off this weekend... My predictions are below on how the season will finish up!

1. Chapman - The panthers run it back to back for the first time in school history
2. Claremont - Defense looks to be stout, but ultimately the offense is going to stop them from winning it all.
3. Redlands - Offense will soon figure it out.. Hopefully the QB will return and will give the bulldogs a shot at moving the ball.
4. Pomona - Well coached but doesn't have the talent level they did in 2022 to win it all.
5. Cal Lu - Lost two early and also can't run the ball on offense.
6. La Verne - Could go winless

SUN WINNER

Redlands

SURF WINNER

Chapman

Agree with all but CLU and La Verne.  They winner of that game will have one victory all season, and the other will go winless.

I agree with post above regarding the first two teams the last four teams comments are no better than word salads, who knows what's going to happen but we all doubt the outcome will be good.

Well, the Bulldogs now have scored 13 points in 3 games and had less than 200 yards of total offense last night.  It took 12 quarters for UR to score their first TD of the season.  They are averaging 3.3 yards a play and have converted 7-39 3 downs and 0-7 4 downs.  Absolutely shameful.
