Are there any Cal Lu fans that could give an update on the new facilities?  That dumb webcam doesn't show too much -- it's too bad you can't move it like on Linfield's site.

I can't wait til the Tigers roll into T.O. this year.

I went on the Redlands web site and found that Redlands between 1988-2005 is   10-3 vs CLU  and 11-7 against Oxy.......I would say that over the 17 year period the Dawgs have done well against the two.

Oh and I found out that Whi**er's name is the leopards.....thus leo.....man before you talk smack you gotta have something to talk about!

dgd . . . here's the SCIAC football lineup

University of LaVerne Leopards
Whittier College Poets
Claremont Stags (includes Claremont McKenna Collge,  Harvey Mudd College and Scripps College)
Pomona Sagehens (includes Pomona College and Pitzer College)
California Lutheran University Kingsmen
University of Redlands Bulldogs
Occidental College Tigers

You don't know your players w/o a program.

Oh one more thing . . . since you note state that Redlands has, since 1988 an 11-7 record against Oxy . . . if you want to pick random meaningless years to determine historical records and move it to 1982, Oxy has won 14, Redlands 11.

Now you can go even further back to find Redlands leading based on the records of most of the 60s and 70s.

Not sure what you'll find in a recap going back to the 30s . . . or back to the turn of the 20th century where you can even find an Oxy win over USC .  .  . but I digress.

So find solace where you will my friend, Oxy is the returning SCIAC champ for the second year in a row, is the only top 25 ranked SCIAC team for the past two years, and is the only top 25 ranked SCIAC team thus far heading into the 2006 season.

DGD,

It's time for you to take a forced sabbatical from the board. Your posts are going downhill in a hurry. Trust me, there will be plenty to talk about when the season gets under way. No need to blow a gasket just yet, especially for someone who has never even set foot in the Runner.

This is monumental.  I think this is the first time I've ever agreed with a post from RFB and you follow it up with another great zinger!

RFB may be a bit overzealous but he has some good stuff to say sometimes.  It would be fun to have an RFB from the other SCIAC schools.

I didnt randomly pick 1988, that was the period that was on the Redlands website.

I misread the zinger by RFB..SORRY, my bad......
::) ::)

Who won the conference last year really doesnt matter, its this year that now counts.....from what I have read it appears to be a three way race between Redlands, Occ, and CLU.  Last night I read the game summaries of the Redlands Oxy and CLU games, from the summary it appears that both of those game were exciting and could have gone either way but for a turnover.  I hope this years games are just as exciting but the result different.

I am anxious to see the quality of play in d3, I have gone to alot of Pac 10 games and am curious to see what the difference in level of play is.

Hey uhh I never came after Redlands or Oxy, I know La Verne has not beat Redlands for quite some time and hasn't beat Oxy since 2002.  My last post was in regards to dgd trying to take on Linfield before even getting through the SCIAC.  I respect Redlands, they have a fine program.  Now don't get me wrong I don't like Redlands at all, hated playing against Redlands, but I do know that it is a good program.

Anyways though, La Verne does have a shot.  They have a good group of core returners looking to fill the void from last years senior class.  La Verne is definitely coming up from the 1-8 season a while back.

Once last thing, OxyOswald you know that Oxy/La Verne game was a hell of a game for 3 quarters, too bad the Leos couldn't put it together in the 4th.  Maybe 2006 will be different? It will be fun to see...

Dgd, how quickly our tune changes from 1988 to the future...  :-\

My tune...didnt change .....I just stated the facts that were posted on the website.

Oxy, I think from reading your posts that you have a good enough understanding of football to realize that preseason rankings are meaningless and are quite often way off base.   ;D

Sabre----- You're the man. The way you argued your points across to the newbie were just classy and awesome. Hats off to you in not trying to rub of the wrong way in any of your post. I guess you were also taught to be a classy Oxy person as well.

Being a newbie last year on this board like dgd, I could have sworn people would just jump out and talk smack. In the end i learned to have fun and just go with the flow.

Btw----Leo. Thanks for the input on your squad. Sounds  your team will need to fill a big gap on the o-line. To bad your Q.B. will not be coming back. That kid looked pretty good for the first two quaters against Oxy. In fact, the whole offense looked pretty good until the 2nd half. Do the leo's return your running back from last year?

Of course, the rankings are just to help us banter back and forth, so we can claim ultimate superiority based on a number someone else came up with.

Last year's game was a good game.  I'd say the Leo's played a good half of football.  Oxy adjusted and rattled off 31 unanswered points.... so it wasn't really a matter of failed 4th quarter heroics.

CRZK

First of all the increase in noise is great!  I don't check the site for a month and responses all over the place.

Can't resist a friendly dig at DGD.  A JD?  No wonder he is after Karma points, ambulance chasing must be slow this summer!.  Just kidding  ;D

Eye of da tiger and I believe El tigre mentioned this but it should bear repeating.  I think the thing that will keep Oxy where they are is defense.  For the last several years the linebacker corps has been solid.  Offense is great but defense is what is needed to go deep in the playoffs.  It looks like Oxy's defensive corps despite the loss of Bryant will continue to be strong.  If they, especially the linebackers stay healthy the offense will continue to thrive and let's look for another conference win and go at least 2 rounds in the playoffs.  The only downside for Oxy is that if they lose the conference a "suspect" out of conference schedule could hurt a B or C bid.

Of course, as the coach in "remember the titans" said.  Leave no doubt.  Go Oxy, win conference and leave no doubt.

By the way if I could I would give DGD a karma point for kick starting the latest round of conversation.

CRZK......THANKS....but  I dont chase ambulances....I am there waiting for them! ;D ;D

All I have been trying to do is get the board started....I am too impatient to wait for the season to start.  And, I sure hope Redlands has a good year because I can see if they dont.....this is going to be a board full of zingers! :D :D

I called the athletic office to see when they would post the incoming freshman class and I was told, " there will an announcenment very soon".  I hope the Crespi Qb didnt change his mind.

CRZK,

Linfield used the "Leave No Doubt" slogan very effectively a couple of years ago after being burned in the prior year's playoff selection process.

I hope that Redlands makes the playoffs and plays Linfield.....I would like to see how good they are for myself...I think it would be fun to ravel up to Oregon for a game.
