Exactly dawgs...D1 is fine because there are no playoffs.  D3...gimme a break...win something that means something and then get fitted for a ring.

And frank...I agree, schools should be able to do whatever they want...we can still call it lame which it is.

CRZK

one commment on the recent ring or no ring thread.

Wildcat, look at the post.  Oxy players got the ring for their playoff run.  My understanding the watches were for the conference.

Besides, I think a little break is due.  Long time since Oxy let alone a SCIAC school went as far as Oxy did the year they got the rings.  Beat two very good schools and lost to you guys in the elite 8.

Agree the real test is the playoffs.  Besides a little slap at D1 is in order here.  I mean with the # of bowl games who doesn't get a bowl game?  Gee what a great year!  We go 6-5 and go to the Tapoica Bowl?  Let's put that in perspective.  Go 6-5 in D2 or 3 and you stay home.

I've met former players from other D3 conferences who had conference title rings.  I thought it was odd at the time but I'm sure he would have thought it was odd if he knew that wasn't the norm everywhere.

Perhaps WC11's "waste of metal" comment had more to do with his view of SCIAC football than of giving out conference championship rings in general.

11, what if the WIAC winner got championship rings (or watches, whatever!)?

Rock,

Nothing to due what I think of SCIAC football.  The SCIAC has made improvement and I think the conference is trying to get better.  I respect that but I'll still give them a hard time.  We are out on an island so we should "try" to stick together in some ways.

I think it's just as lame if it's the WIAC, NWC, OAC, ASC, or the MIAC.  Others disagree and that's fine.

I'm very proud of the NWC titles Linfield has won but Linfield doesn't do rings and that's where I'm from.  It seems like an odd deal to me.  I mean, I don't even think the 1992 Linfield NAIA runner-up team had rings made.  To me that makes those "other" Linfield rings (82, 84, 86 and 2004) all the more special.

Hell who really cares what I think....enjoy the rings/watches that the players earned.  However, I do have one questions about the watches...does the big hand get stuck on "63" and the little hand on "21"?  *rimshot*

Where I live they don't get rings they get medals....even mothers get medals....They call it the "Glorious Mother" award.  I'm serious guys...no sarcasm at all....Is this case closed?
Don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there!

Hello again, hope all of you are having a pleasant summer.  This past week has been an interesting week here in St. Louis (most  people without power since Wednesday)...so, I'm just looking forward to reading some good posts!

I think Oxy could overhaul their entire website.  One day, I took a look at MIT's new site, http://mitathletics.cstv.com/ , i thought it was very nice for D3, no?

Eye of the Tiger...what kind of watches did you all receive?

Eye of the Tiger...what kind of watches did you all receive?

I know the question was directed toward Eye of the Tiger, but since I am awake because I just got off work and I figure he is asleep right now I will answer it.  The watches are the same kind that Texas and USC got for playing in the Rose Bowl.  We got watches a few years back (2001), but they were worthless and broke on most of the players.  These watches are very nice and am please that the school perchased them for us.

This is what they look like:

Cant let a week go by without the mention of everyones favorite QB, Matt Wabby.  With Dawgs go Deep on vacation, I will take it upon myself to talk about him.  This past friday i was priviledged enough to watch a replay of the Shrine game in which Wabby played.  Let me say that he definitely looked the 235lbs that he is listed at, if not more!! What made my night was when the commentators compared Wabby to the former Kentucky QB Jared Lorenzen, the 275 lb glorified lineman.
4 is the smallest composite number, its proper divisors being 1 and 2. 4 is the smallest squared prime. 4 is the only number in the English language for which the number of letters in its name is equal to the number itself. 4 is also the number of titles in a row the tigers will have in '07!! Go Oxy

As I asked earlier....can you say D-Line?

Hopefully he avoids the freshman 15 or he might truly be mistaken for Lorenzen.  But, as hot as it is out in Redlands he should be able to sweat a few pounds off when practice starts next month.  It was a very comfortable 114 degrees in Redlands on Saturday.  :D

Ugh.  I DON'T miss that.  2-a-days in that heat are brutal, even at 8PM for the 2nd shift.

That Redlands weather is spreading everywhere.  I can't believe it was actually 118 in Woodland Hills this weekend!  It's terrible.
Go TIGERS!!!

Tough days for Tiger Football.

Pirate Pride

Redlands brings a whole new meaning to homefield advantage.  It can be 100+, and a visiting team can be looking across the sidelines baking in the sun...and ofcourse the Redlands football team has about 4 giant misting machines on the otherside...possibly my favorite aspect of that school and its weather.

Well its just my luck that here I am in Maui and we are supposed to get hit with a fricking hurricane tomorrow.  Shot 77 at Makena, 78 at the Viillage in Kapaula and man is it expensive.

Oh eye, other than the comment, what did you think of his play?  How about the stiff arm to the LB and running over the DB?  Cmon man let me know what you thought.  He completed his first 7 or 8 passes.  ALOHA!!!!!! AND MAHALO!
