And now, one of the last in a long running series of updates ;) ...

The Gilbert Sports and Fitness Center has been cleared for occupancy!

Great new pictures at
http://www.callutheran.edu/about/watch_clu_grow.php

Those of you also interested in baseball and/or aquatics will enjoy the fact that the webcam now looks out over the pool and the construction of the new baseball stands/clubhouses.

DGD with karma powers will make this board even more fun this season.  I predict our new and enthusiastic friend will hit 1000 posts by season's end :)

scandi....hi and thanks...neighbor...I live about 2 miles from CLU.  I know some of the guys who used to play bball there, I have played with them in a few leagues, a few years ago.

congrats on the new facilities, they look great, the old gym was a nightmare.

Tom Brady

The new facilities are looking great.  I usually drop by once a week to see them and there is starting to be a lot more action going on around there (landscaping and such).  The pool is going to be a nice addition as well.  There has been some dirt moving around on the baseball field too. Looks like they are starting the stadium portion, which will make it hands down the best facility in the SCIAC and one of the top in the entire West region.  Looking forward to the first home game for CLU.  Hope its a good year for the Kingsmen.

I did a drive by, not that kind, of CLU this morning, they are spending some hugh dollars on the new facilities.  Now all they need ......naah....its to early in the season to start ...congrats to CLU on the new digs! ;D ;D ;D

Tom Brady

Come on DGD.  I have been reading this for a while and you always complain about the Karma points but then you say things like that and its just too easy to drop you.  I myself will do no such thing, I will add points to you to show you how kind I am.  One more thing, yes it is too early to start making fun of a team that has beat Redlands the past few years, but it's too early to talk about that too.

Dear Tom,
The world is a better place when people exhibit a sense of humor.  ;D  And you are right, CLU currently has the bragging rights...but that shouldnt stop anyone from poking a jab to raise a chuckle! And isnt FUN one of the purposes of a board like this.  It certainly appears that you have a sense of humor....keep up the good work and spread the love. ;).......because in  a few more posts, I will be annointed..or is it annoying?  :D :D :D :D Oh well congrats again on the new facilities, one of your ex basketball greats is very good friend of mine!

rockcat

You've already got the annoying part down. ;)  Couldn't help myself.

I think I've seen the word "karmalized" floating around.  And, for a little early gift for post #200 consider yourself karmalized. :)

I don't know how sensitive people really are in here.  I just think you have to earn the right to talk crap and take jabs at people.  Some probably think your analysis is a bit suspect since you've never seen your "Dawgs" play.  I just laugh and roll with it...

You really haven't said anything too crazy yet.  Wait a month and then you'll really start to see some zingers fly, especially on other boards like the MIAC and NWC.  The SCIAC board has been controlled by Oxy fans who probably aren't used to many competing jabs.  They haven't had to keep their guard up too much but I guess that comes with winning.

And, regardless of the ever humorous "return to dominance," Oxy can always hold on to a couple of playoff wins that have been out of the reach of Redlands' "dominate" hands.  (I just had to bring that back up because it still makes me laugh!) :D

By the way, if you want to see a good DIII team play this year check out the Whitewater vs APU game.  I'll meet you there.

Whitworth will be pretty good too.  If your boys can pull that win out a few heads might turn.

Cat.......Redlands has been in the playoffs 3 or 4 times without a win.  I know they have a good head coach, but what about the rest of the staff? Could that have been part of the problem or were they just overmatched.  I havnt looked at the scores, but that doesnt always tell the story either.

Yeah, and I know Ill get smited, but a couple of the Oxy guys are a bit sensitive and a couple are pretty funny also.  I just feel that good natured banter on these types of boards is fun.  You cant take every comment about your team that you dont like as a personal afront.  You cant take every attempt at humor as if someone is shooting a gun at you, just roll with it and give it back....... and laugh.   :)

I took a beating when I started talking about the Wabby kid, but that was all I could talk about to get started on the board.  I made some comments that I felt he might end up being the starter, and everyone laughed.  In talking to a Redlands player who works out with him...it just might happen.  Man would I love be the I told you so guy! Remember, he turned down some pretty good D1 programs, Louisville, Nevada, Pitt and Fresno St.  Kind of like Collins who I think transfered from, was it Oregon?  Many on this baord will argue this but, there is a major difference between a D1 and D3 guy.  I would think, and I could be wrong, but if you are good enough to play a skill position at D1, you should do pretty well in d3.

If Redlands can beat Trinity and Whitworth, and then Oxy I would expect that they would get into the national rankings.  From what I have been told by some of the guys on the board and from talking to some of the palyers, they were not that far off last year.  The CLU game was a big let down on the dawgs part...I dont think they will let that happen again.

Sooooo....if they win those three games...who knows?

My wife and I are going to spend a couple days moving our daughter into the Redlands dorm, and gambling at Morongo, I will catch a couple practices while they are shopping , if they are open to the public.  I will be able to give you a better assesment of the Dawgs then, because, I am a football officianato! ;D ;D ;D

GO DAWGS.....GO DEEP!

D O.C.

I would like to karmalize whoever is keeping dgd at the 199 level for a half dozen posts.     ::)

Let the contact begin for heavens sake! (As soon as the heat wave has subsided, of course)

DGD - Wabby turned down Louisville, Nevada, Pitt and Fresno St?  Did he turn down scholarship offers or offers to walk on?  In any event, that stuff is hard to verify.  I'm sure the schools won't back up your statements about turning them down, and kids are known to make all sorts of claims about "offers" so your claim is hard to evaluate.

Checking out Crespi's ranking and strength of schedule on calpreps. com, they pull in at something like 123 in the state - not really eye popping.  Good showing for Wabby in the Shrine game though.  Still, it seems like you're writing a lot of checks for him to cash.

DGD,

Maybe you can help me out...Have you seen Redlands play a game?  I have seen many freshman QB's fizzle.  For the competiveness of the SCIAC, I do hope you're right though.  Remeber, Elway started ahead of Collins for...one game?

I'm thinking CLU may be a bit more dangerous than your Dawgs...no?

Whatever the case may be, "dominance" in the SCIAC doesn't mean much as we have seen in the past, right?  Winning outside of our league gets you respect from the rest of the country.

tmert,

You really don't want to waste your time on this one.  Look back about few weeks and you'll read all about him.

DGD, make sure #200 is a memorable one.  Bring us something big...or as you would say, "go deep"
