vy,
and anything else you need to know about Oxy...just ask Oxy Oswald, he will be more than happy to expound for you! ;D and...welcome to the board.  In case you dont already know or cant tell from my karma rating, I am the most liked guy here! :D  Who are you supporting?

tooth,
Your post was like a well put together legal brief, I am proud of you son.  Here is some more + for ya!

rockcat

Tooth,

You crack me up.  Perhaps my youthful zeal speaks on my behalf too often?

Sabretooth Tiger

Nah . . . I've never noticed any trash eminating from you . . . you're zealous (and rightly so), but respectful . . . I think you represent the 'Cats very well . . . it must be the influence of being here in SoCal and your interaction with additional high caliber institutions . . .  ;D . . .  8)

cheers,

Both of you guys are good fans....you are both knowledgeable and have a good sense of how far one can joke.  I enjoy both of your posts, but, tooth, hopefully we can still talk after week 5, ;D and cat...tell that clown who has the sign...where Redlands goes to die 100% of the time, or something to that effect, on his profile to change it or I will personally lead a movement to give him negative karma every 18 hours for the entire existence of this baord!!!! ;D :D ;)

rockcat

Nah, I think he can leave it there.  If you try to lead some smiting movement against him who's going to partner with you?  I think you would lose that battle...you're just a little out numbered.

dawgs go deep

OK...the war is on!!!!!!!! ;D

Im rounding up the troops as we speak.     :D :D

Negativity will overcome him!

Sabretooth Tiger

Week 5?  You mean after my Tigers help the Bulldogs "Refrain from Dominance" for yet another year, leaving the puppies whimpering and hoping for a Pool C bid?

Wait, where am I . . . oh god, it must be the Ambien talking . . .

;D

dawgs go deep

tooth....LMAO...very good, you are starting to get the hang of it!  If I could give you more +'s right now I would.  The downtown guy is irritating wth his sign.....his karma will suffer!

If you are seriously interested in the answer to that question, you may...

LMAO... Awesome. That would be the good way to do it... but what if we are lazy Americans who like our information spoon fed to us? ;D

I've been following this board for oh... a week or so. I went to every single game and jv game (lots of driving) and watched practices from the dining hall, and other random football craziness when I lived by my alma mater (Wheaton College, IL). The year I lived in VA after college I went to a few ODAC games. But I didn't go to a single DIII game and missed football like crazy last year.

The extent of my knowledge about the SCIAC ins and outs is basically limited to where the schools are, how good they are academically, and how good their basketball teams are. In terms of football knowledge, I only know the basic history of noisemakers on the national scene, and how big the stadiums are (thanks to some totally random pointless research I did while trying to avocate that the Stagg move to somewhere that has nicer weather in winter).  :D

But, I'd like to try to make some games this year and start following the SCIAC better if this is really going to be my home region for a while. I was going to ask what the big rivalries are, and which games would be fun to go to as a fan (you know, things that wouldn't be immediately apparently in a preseason poll alone). But now I'm afraid to ask cause Sabertooth will tell me to look at the 150 pages of board posts to try figure it out.  :P

Maybe someone else would be willing to help me out? ;D

Incidentally, you guys are hilarious. I'm going to enjoy posting here.
Wait, dunks are only worth two points?!?!!!? Why does anyone do them? - diehardfan
What are Parkers now supposed to chant after every NP vs WC game, "Let's go enjoy tobacco products off-campus? - Gregory Sager
We all read it, but we don't take anything you say seriously - Luke Kasten

Eye of da TIGER

Well Diehard,

If you havent noticed....... Oxy vs Redlands is the game to go to in the SCIAC, this game will determine the SCIAC champ.

Also, Oxy vs Cal Lu and Redlands vs Cal Lu, should be very entertaining and a good opportunity to watch some SCIAC football!!
4 is the smallest composite number, its proper divisors being 1 and 2. 4 is the smallest squared prime. 4 is the only number in the English language for which the number of letters in its name is equal to the number itself. 4 is also the number of titles in a row the tigers will have in '07!! Go Oxy

vycali

wow thanks for the all the answers guys, way more than i expected, i appreciate it.

Hey DieHard-

Glad to see you're a football fan as well as a basketball fan :)

To add a little to what Eye of the Tiger just posted...

Over the last fifteen years Redlands has had the highest consistent quality.  LaVerne had some great teams in the mid 90's and Whittier actually was good for a couple of years in the late 90's.  Oxy always fields a respectable team and has been very strong lately under the leadership of Andy Collins.  Cal Lu has enjoyed a decent run over the last four years (24-12), including an 8-1 record last year that has people fairly optimistic about this year's team (most of the offense is back) - although the Kingsmen have areas where they need to replace folks just like everyone else.  Basically, any game involving any two teams from the Oxy, CLU and Redlands group is a big one in the conference.  I believe Oxy plays both CLU and Redlands on the road this year - that should make things a little more interesting as well.

Finally, I didn't say anything about CMS or PP - but I do really enjoy watching them play.  They both play smart, disciplined football which makes them more than capable of the occasional upset.

Diehard:

Eye of da Tiger probably identified what look to be the most serious and important matchups heading into the season.

Great rivalries, however, have to include Oxy v. Whittier for "the shoes" (a perpetual trophy for the winner of that matchup) and Oxy v. Pomona, one of the oldest college football rivalries in the country where the winner earns "the drum" for the year.

These rivalries were huge back in the day . . . not sure how seriously the kids take them these days.  Eye . . . what do you think?

Diehard,
You are one of the best posters on these boards.

Check out a Whittier game.  As you know, they play at (CCIW) Carthage this year, and you might be able to make some good comments on both boards that will help us all learn a little about both conferences.

I've posted a couple of comments over there about not taking the Poets too lightly, but I doubt that they will pay much attention to me.

An out of conference win for Whittier in an away game would add to the SCIAC respect.
