Does anyone know the status of the L&C/Oxy contract?  In other words, are they scheduled to continue playing beyond this season?

Scandi,

Most schools sign two year contracts. Redlands just re-upped with Whitworth and Trinity. All I know is that Oxy has played weak links for some time. Here they are.

2006: CC/L&C
2005: CC/L&C
2004: CC/L&C
2003: L&C/Puget Sound
2002: L&C/Puget Sound
2001: CC/Menlo
2000: CC/Menlo
1999: CC/Menlo

Oxy had made contracts to Play Colorado College and L/C back when it was still the late 90's. I think they are almost done with them up until 2009. Btw----These two teams were no cupcakes when Oxy used to be 1-9 or 0-9 back in the late 90's. Maybe this played a role in having made such long contracts.

SO IMHO, Oxy just returns the favor of beating both teams throughout this new millinium

diehardfan...you DO know what your posts look like when you have a picture of a Devil Pup and then those cookies down below, don't you?  I'll be careful where I trod.

RFB, remember Redlands is going to be facing the (now) best quarterback in the NWC Saturday. No controversy there. I think back to that game two years ago with all the offense. I'm excited for a first game of the year.

No doubt, Whitworth is stacked and Redlands will be facing Joel Clark for the third straight year. He is a real force at the QB position. No heat this year for Whitworth as they get to play their only night game. It should be a good one.

Hey Die hard---- Is there anyway that you can send some of those cookies just in time for the Oxy-Redlands game. It sure would be good to take them out to the game and enjoy them while the tigers roll-up on the puppies yet again.

RFB----Oxy has played L/C since 2001.

You're right, I missed them on the schedule. My point is that Oxy has a trend going in scheduling weak teams. As good as Oxy has been over the last two years and going into this year it would be very exciting to see them knock heads with tested programs. They get nothing out of their weak schedule except easy wins. They could start their 2nd team and beat them both.

I think this might Oxy's last year playing Colorado College, not positive on that but its what I have heard.  RFB, as I have said before, speaking as a former player, we want to play better teams.  I remember after we went 7-2 in '03 we asked the coaches to play someone else other than LC and CC in the upcoming season.  They said that due to the contracts we couldnt and that the schedule was set.  But they did tell us that if we wanted to play better teams, then we should work harder and make the playoffs because there are nothing but good teams in the playoffs.  Im sure I dont have to remind you but I will....... since then we are 12-0 in SCIAC, even with playing how did you put it, weak links like LC and CC.
4 is the smallest composite number, its proper divisors being 1 and 2. 4 is the smallest squared prime. 4 is the only number in the English language for which the number of letters in its name is equal to the number itself. 4 is also the number of titles in a row the tigers will have in '07!! Go Oxy

I have heard that also.  Since they are joining the SCAC, there will be fewer openings for them to play SCIAC teams.

:D

Have you guys ever done a poster tailgate party? Seems like the Oxy-Redlands game would be an obvious choice. If we did one of those, I would bring cookies.

Yes and Oxy got absolutely embarrased last year at Linfield. I would think that playing better non-conference games would help them better prepare for the playoffs and help close the gaps some. If Oxy would have got sent to Linfield in 2004 as well it would have been a very quick exit as well. Redlands has never been stomped in the playoffs and that has been four appearances as the highest seed playing on the road against the #1 seed. Oxy has Redlands to thank for getting a home game and lower seed in the 2004 playoffs. Redlands in those years were playoff competative due to playing better teams in non-conference.

Redlands Can Keep wishing on making playoffs..They must first get through the Champs Oxy and Cal Lu.. :D

Browneagle64

Diehard----I hope that your cookies aren't made with your pups crap. They look so good. I think most oxy posters will update you if there is going to be a tailgate. I would be happy to exchange any tailgate food for cookies (not made from pup crap though). Oh wait, We play the bulldogs that week, no chocolate chip cookies allowed...hahah ;D

Sounds like the Redlands q.b problem is what ASU just went through. How would you Redlands players have handled something like this???? Do you guys get any input on the descision just like at ASU or does the coach make the final call?

How many playoff apperances do "The Who" have? Zero, back to the drawing board young man.

SmittyBoy

All about living in the now my friend...what have u done for me lately..none of the kids on the team now were on the Redlands playoff teams..They probably never will never sniff playoffs either..Cal Lu has the foundation set watch out for a breakout Year!!

RFB

I have been hearing the same breakout crap since I was at Redlands over ten years ago. Cal Who is all bark and no bite. Now be a good intern and go make some copies.
