So Accidental, you still have not told us about your brillant career......I really am anxious to hear about Oswalds fame and glory.

yes...it is a typo, but the kid is 280...not 240 or 260. But he still moves well!

I believe Redlands will be ok.  I just hope to see a bit more urgency from the guys next week.  The front 7 looked good, and they will get better, but with the results across the SCIAC on Saturday this could be the strongest league in years.

I still have faith in my boys!

GO BULLDOGS!

I saw him face to face a week before he left for camp working out at Crespi and there is no way. I do not care what you read on a chart or a program.  It isnt so.  When I saw in uniform last night, although from some distance, he did not look that  weight.  Although he is very thick and looks pretty solid.  After last night perfomance I would not be surprised to see him get a shot.

I agree that they will be ok, but I think in order for that to happen they will have to get some leadership on Offense  from on and off the field.  I think O'Boyle will be fine as soon as he gets a few games under his belt and as soon as he gets some on field leadership to work with.  Hopefully it wont take to long.  Its a shame that they didnt start out with Chapman and then play the two tough teams so that tey could get a game under thier belt and some experience for all.  Not a knock on Chapman.

The kid was All State for crying out loud, did you ever see him play???....well, you will!  Its real easy for a guys like you  to make fun of someone else...by the way...what was your career like, or didnt you have one? :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Let's at least be clear about this.  There is no official California All-State team.  Wabby was listed by CalHiSports as being one of five QBs as second team All-State for medium sized schools in CA - there was an overall all state team and I don't believe he was on that.  Now Wabby is probably a great kid and perhaps a great QB, but when you brag on him as "All State" you're setting him and yourself up a bit.

I'm pretty sure your barking up the wrong tree if you want to start a credibility battle pal.
Go TIGERS!!!

Tough days for Tiger Football.

Redlandsfan,
I don't think Saturday's loss had anything to do with urgency.  In fact, the Whitworth radio broadcast talked about how loud and fired up the Bulldogs were during the pregame, compared to what appeared to be a more businesslike approach by the Pirates.  Selecting a catch phrase like "Return to Dominance" and then making it public puts a lot of pressure on a team to perform in the first game, and they probably were caught up in that enthusiasm.

But having Whitworth drive right down the field easily on the first drive for a TD will sap that energy pretty quickly.

Overall though, Redlands will be fine and right in the thick of the SCIAC battle.  Whitworth was just better last night.  The Pirates will average between 35 and 40 points a game this year (that's where they've been the last two years under Clark as QB), and a veteran Redlands defense held the Pirates to a touchdown below that.

Offensively, I think Redlands will be okay if they just pick one QB and stick with it, forming a cohesive game plan around that player's strengths.  From the article that was posted online last week, it sounded like the coach(es) want Saras, while the players back Selway.  That's a tough situation, but ultimately the players have to trust the staff.

Good luck at Trinity.  The Tigers may be in a tough spot too, so the game could go to whichever team gets mentally and emotionally past this week and works to improve.

Based on the information about the UPS-LaVerne game, Pirates stand a fairly good chance of being 2-0 after facing the Leopards in Spokane on Saturday.

Next up for the Oxy Tigers, Colorado College:

From the CC website:

During the first three years of Bob Bodor's tenure as head coach, the Colorado College football program built a foundation for the future by putting its youngest players on the field in nearly every situation. While the Tigers relied on an explosive offense and a commitment to special teams to remain competitive, an inexperienced defense proved to be the one area that opponents consistently exploited. With 18 starters and 37 letterwinners returning, 2006 could finally be the season that yields dividends from CC's investments. The future is here. The Tigers kick off the season with back-to-back road trips to Southern California. After that, CC will play the first of six home games on Sept. 23 with a contest against Lewis & Clark College. The final season as an independent will end with a home date against Southwest Assemblies of God on Nov. 11. A year later, the Tigers will compete in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. Regardless of the opponent, the Tigers are convinced that 2006 is the season they can compete with anyone.

And this:

Colorado College drove 90 yards for a touchdown on its first possession of the game Saturday night and went on to record a 34-27 season-opening victory over Pomona-Pitzer Colleges at Merritt Field in Claremont, Calif. Senior quarterback Chris Neal threw a pair of scoring passes and ran for another TD to fuel the triumph, while sophomore linebacker Brian Mulhern made a key interception in the closing minutes to seal it. Neal's scoring strikes were hauled in by sophomore running back Justin Alexander and junior tight end Nolan Swett as CC snapped a two-game losing streak to the Sagehens.

So probably a greater challenge for the Tigers in their second outing.  Looking forward to a good game and another win this Saturday.

AND . . . Oxy moves up to no. 8 in this week's D3 national rankings!

Go Tigers!

Dear tooth and Oswald,

Lets talk about the gutter.  Because that is exactly whree Oswalds comment came from.  There is simply no need to make the absolutly stupid comment that he did, maybe it was Accidental, but it wasnt right.  Comment on the paly of a kid all you wnat but dont make fun a player on this board, this baord was not initiated for that. I responded to Oswald's comment to let him know what its like.

As to the all state thing, your comment was correct as, but you dont think that is an accomplishment?  Also look under State Athelete of the year and he received an award there.  And I wasnt bragging about him, just respondeing to a very insulting and stupid comment by Oswald.  So tooth, if anyone is an " unmitigated jerk"......

Oxy Bob.....there is nothing wrong with "smack" talk as long as it is done with humor.....that is what I was referriing to......insulting remarks are not "good natured smack"  or whatever term you want to apply to it.  There is a big difference between talking in fun about a teams schedule, or who won and lost and,...... insulting a player because of his size or other feature.  Especially when he never made a comment on this board.  Oswalds comment was totally uncalled for and vicious.

It seems ok for you Oxy guys to say just about anything you want in any way you want on this board.  When someone responds to one of your insulting comments, he gets jumped by the Oxy posters.  As far as Im concerned Oswald was out of line.  I called him out for it.

Just a quick thought on Redlands start.  It seems like during Maynard's tenure Redlands is usually a little slow out of the gate and then they proceed to get much stronger as a team as the season goes on - I don't know enough about the program to explain why, just seems like it always happens that way...

Scandi,

Your comments are correct. Redlands historically under Maynard starts very slow. Even when I was there it was the same. I can't really explain why. Redlands works very hard in the off-season and fall camp. The non-conference schedule is usually very tough, but designed to help Redlands get ready for SCIAC play and hopefully a playoff berth. Redlands will be just fine. Hopefully they get the kinks worked out this week.

I agree that the dual qb system rarely works.  I wonder if Maynard was trying to appease the team who was backing Selway according to the newspaper article?

I hear Maynard is a players type coach, great guy, maybe that was the reason.
