Is Willamete still running the same type of offense they did when Oxy played them in the playoffs in 2004?  If so does anyone think that will be a problem for Cal Lu?

Willamette is still running the "Fly" and always will as long as Coach Speckman is at the helm. It is a very dangerous offense for a team facing it for the first time.

Watchman....I think we are basically saying the smae thing, I was trying to say it in a bit more positive light.  Now that someone has said it bluntly....you are correct.

I said the pass blockingwa inadequte....you put it in a much better perspective.

As to the OC, well......I was trying to be polite and give him the benefit of the doubt being his first game and all but....again....your perspective gives a better picture of the sitution.

I never intended to suggest putting the freshman in was the answer, since I know him, from a persoal apect, I would love to see him play.

I saw Saras focus on one receiver and throw that way most of the time. He did throw deep to  receiver twice when the receiver was smothered.  He did show better field presence than Selway, which is depicted by the 9 yd loss Selway took rather than throw it OB.  We were all scratching our heads on that one.

In both QB's defense, alternating rarely ever works...it is really hard on the qb's. Your point on decision making with respect to Selway is, IMO, very accurate.  I wonder if the decision to kick a fg on the 4th and inches call was the OC's.  I would think that the decision to go or kick would be made by Maynard.  In any event, it was stupid as was the play calling inside the 4 on first and goal from the 4.

I do think that the defense did a "great job"...under the circumstances.  After the first series when Whit went right through them they played much better. They were on the field all night and were overmatched in size, especially the height of the receiver vs the defenders.  Adequate job might better describe the effort but I always try to be at least somewhat positive.

I certainly respect your opinion and your post is very, very accurate and  informative.  Hopefully the team can rally for another tough game next week and the OC will ask you or me what plays he should call and when! ;)

El tigre...oh hell if your only 21 that explains it......I guess I took it the wrong way and if you need two seats on your next flight, call me and I'll pay for the second.! :D ;)

Seriously tough, if you guys are that young then I understand.  I think that it makes a difference and I can see how Accidental Osy was trying to be funny.  OK Osy, I will be the bigger man, I am sorry I verbally beat the daylights out of you. ;)

good luck to the tigers this week end, I hope they are undefeated when they play the dawgs!

Oxybob:  You may think you are clever but many of your posts appear to be nothing more than "cheap shots" and negative personal attacks. We respect your loyalty to Occidental. Just respect our loyalty to our schools without the personal trash. I am surprized the moderator continues to allow this type of posting.

To Watchman: Very honest and accurate evaluation of Saturday's game. I see you are the "politically correct" type of guy who is very careful not to hurt anyone's feelings.
Hopefully "The Return to Dominance" also includes decisions made on the sidelines.

RFB, I just call 'em like I see 'em.  Thanks for the welcome.  Perhaps I'll continue to inject my HONEST opinion from time to time.

SmittyBoy

Maybe im missing something in these posts but why would the moderator need to be involved?? I would swear im in a soccer chat room with all the sensitivity..If u cant handle the posts then leave and find another sport to follow..

I truly have no ax to grind.  I just think that UR has some really talented players that are not able to show their potential given the circumstances they must play under.  Changes on the sidelines are an absolute necessity if they truly want  to become a force once again and live up to their new motto.

Holy Crap this is getting out of hand.  Why dont we all put the personal differences aside and talk about what happened on the field this past weekend and what we all hope happens this coming up weekend.

Nice work by the "Who" for going on the road and winning their opener.  Good luck this weekend at home!
