Hmmmmmmm, Brown and White, kind of like Crespi's colors.....

Like I've said before, boxers start with lower ranked opponents.  In bracketed competitions, high seeds start against low seeds.  For my money,  I believe in tuning up smart, search out weaknesses in competitions while building confidence. -----Tooth, you wise old man, i have to agree with you. I am glad that an old fart like yourself can bring in words of wisdom for knuckleheads like ourselves on this board.

Go oxy.... Use the bye week and get ready for a stagg team that has high confidence after their back to back wins. Oxy will expose these *aggs oops i meant stagss. Stomp them Staggs

DGD--- Welcome to the first month of real posting. Its not like the summer man. Keep up your fight though. Hope them dogs get there acts together for the Oxy game. I really want to see a good game and not just a roll over by the pups

Browneagle...thanks for the support.

Oxy Bob....you really need a life.  You must be a fiction novel writer with a very vivid imagination.  Go find a girl, you need to find something else to do with your time.

Browneagle . . . thank you for the kind words . . . I especially enjoyed the "old fart" part . . .  ;D

So, new top 25 out:

Oxy drops from no. 8 to no. 10, being passed by Bridgewater and UW LaCrosse.

Linfield drops to 18, the only 0-2 team in the top 25, and Whitworth shoots up to no. 17.  Looks like a Cat fight in the NWC this year . . .

No upward movement for Cal Lutheran, their wins, like Oxy's . . . don't seem to help . . . (and I'm not saying that the performance of either team warrants moving up in the national polls at this point, in fact, I'm sure that they don't).

That's ok . . . time to gear up for the upcoming SCIAC battles . . .

cheers,

tooth

To Gray Fox: Since you went to the game, what was going on with all the interceptions? Did the receivers get knocked off their patterns, particularly across the middle? How did you interprete what you saw? It seems very odd that all three qbs made the same mistakes.

I'm not sure that they got knocked off their patterns or not.  Some posters earlier suggested that the QB's could only go with their first option.  That seemed to be more the case.  Many of the passes  seemed forced and should not have been made.  One of the interceptions in the third quarter was so short we thought it was a stolen handoff.  I think it really was a pass that bounced off a lineman's helmut. ???

The only comparison we can make from last year's team was with Saras' passing success as Selway did not play QB. The passing game last year seemed very effective, first with Nick Brown prior to his injury and then with Saras. The running game was a problem most of the time last year. Something has definitely changed this year. They have a new QB coach but how much impact he has during a game is not known. Whatever the problem is, we all hope it is corrected prior to the next game. However, if it is play calling and game management by the OC, and if in fact, this ends up being the primary source of the problem, we will all be commenting on the symptoms  the entire season as I cannot foresee Maynard making any changes in this area.

Dawg fan.....what do you mean?  Maynard wont change qb's or the OC ????? No matter what?

I dont think he wants to keep losing.

dawgs, you've been busted, just like Jack Abramoff. Difference is that Abramoff's a lobbyist, while you're a Wabbyist.

OxyBob

OxyBob, play nice . . . I have to conclude that DGD's daughter has been dating the Wabby kid since kindergarten.  I know it's possible as my elementary school son has been "engaged" to the same girl since kindergarten (at least her dad's a rock star, but I'm not going down that path in this venue).

So someday it will be Grandpa DGD with little grandwabbys . . . what a sight . . .

OOOrrrrr . . . . maybe this Matt guy is just stalking the daughter . . . that's it, he followed her to Redlands . . . gave up the big time DI career to stalk . . . I mean chase, young miss dgd . . . that may explain matters . . .  ;D ;D ;D ;)

And how do you equate that post with me?  Because I mentioned Brian Brohm?  You should work for csi.   I also post and posted on the USC site, about one of their injured players, I guess that makes me his dad.

Bobby, find a girlfriend.

One would hope... :P

Incidentally, oxybob, I enjoyed your usage of "two dimensional" to describe the team being flat.

DGD - you're angry with the Father... meaning GOD??? How can you expect Him to tell the coaches to play your son if you keep dissing him like that? Hehe... :)

My bro was going to get a scholarship at a DI and play QB... and then ended up at Wheaton playing DE (his other position in HS) but not starting until his senior year. Some DIs are not better than some DIII... that's why we beat them sometimes.

Tooth... loved you calling out the carthage poster on the spelling issue... its a long standing joke in our conference that Carthage alum can NOT spell... not even to save their lives. :)

Incidentally, to add insult to injury in that Carthage crushing of Whittier, it turns out dozens of carthage players had been suffering from staph infections all week,  and didn't even practice or prepare for the game, and they still crushed them.... double ouch!!!

Well at this point I would say that DGD's pretty steady and vocal contention for Wabby is questionable.

You know what,  at this point I think I would say--let coaches and players decide.  If a kid had the supposed looks that this kid had and is at a D3 then a couple of things

1)  He isn't D1 caliber
2)  He did want to face the day to day pressure of D1 (don't get me wrong,  at some point sports are a game, not a job)
3)  If some one is right on this board about this kid-- then a D3 coach and at least a couple D1 coaches should be fired for missing the 2nd coming of Jesus!!

Now--I want to learn more about the Kingsmen.  My worry for CLU is this--two weak NWC teams, two come from behind wins--might it be that the CLU offense is ok but D is a big question mark?

Not to be accused of speaking out of both sides of my mouth.  Oxy D had problems with CC, however, they had a couple good wr's and a good QB.  In all honesty did Puget and Willamette bring the same to the table?  If so then I am looking forward to an exciting match up between CLU and Oxy

Gray Fox

diehard,
I was just about to post this as posted on the CCIW board.

"Carthage had a very difficult week prepairing for Whittier with their own health issues. A very serious situation as Staph Infection was thought to be rapidly spreading throughout the team. As of Thursday around 2 dozen or more players were not medically eligable to practice. In fact the offensive scout team was working out as the #1 unit. The entire locker room had to be evacuated, cleared of all equipment & disinfected with bleach. Same with the training room facility. All the players had to dip their gear in bleach as well in order to disinfect it. Tuesdays practice was moved indoors because of lightening. It was very difficult for the Coaches to acomplished what needed to be done in prepairation for the game. Coach Rucks didn't know until mid Saturday morning who he might have available to play. Fortunately, all worked out OK and the "Staph" scare did not affect the roster come game time. My hat is off to Coach Rucks and his assistant Coaches for still being able to prepair and execute a solid game plan under very adverse conditions. Also the Trainers did a great job in heading off the potentially serious problem.

Needless to say, the Red Men outplayed the Poets from the opening kickoff in all facets of the game. Several players were able to get some valuable playing time which can only help, not only deep into the schedule this year, but for next year as well. All's well that ends well. A little "Poetic" justice you might say as the Red Men sent Whittier back to the land of fruits and nuts with a 2 point consolation prize!"

I hope Whittier came out with only a loss and not a health issue too.

Everyone, can we please leave this kid alone. This is getting out of hand and it isn't right.

Father ='s monitor.

Other than saying he should get a chance, I have not said anything about his ability or lack of.  Is this the only issue you have to post about?
