You need to get something like 20 or 30 posts, I think, before you get that button.  Keep working on it.

DGI -

Well played.

As an outsider trying to get a handle on the SCIAC, I have found this board to be one of the more serious ones on PP (kind of ironic since Socalians are supposed to be more "laid back" than the East Coast and Midwest).

Regardless, your response to the quandry at hand was the way to go.

I have enjoyed your insights into the SCIAC landscape as I circle in and out of the board.  I hope as I pop in from time to time I keep seeing more of DGI's thoughts expressed here.

OB -

I thought better going to the game.  Must have been my spider sense telling me that watching it on FSN would be the way to go.

As a side bar, does anyone except myself (being the ignorant east coast transplant I am) think that Oaks Christian could probably beat most local D3 teams given it's current line up?  Clausen is definitely the genuine article - but to honest, I think OC's RB is 10x better.

Also - in watching the game on FSN last night my jaw kept dropping as the OC coaching line up was presented.  I mean, Clay Matthews, Tyler Walker, Casey Clausen (not to mention College HOFer Redell)?!?!?

Is there any coach on their staff that doesn't have some NFL/Major DI or otherwise experience?!?!

No wonder St. Bonnie's got smoked (I mean, if you were betting on this game would you take St. B's '01 grad OC vs. CLAY MATTHEWS?!?!?  ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!)

Another question - is it just me or were those OC commercials (played at virtually every commercial break) kind of creepy/cheesy?

Wow, dawg gone it, that took some guts.
It's not easy to come on a board like this and admit your mistakes, and I give you credit for doing so.

Welcome back to Post Patterns. I'm glad that you decided to return.

That goes for me too.

One other thing DGI re: the modify function -

I had close to 700 posts blown out when PC merged the D3hoops and D3football boards together.

No worries - it's the journey, not the destination!

DGI: welcome back newbie, For a second i thought the board would have been dead for a while after not hearing your whacky nonsense. I'm glad u had the Cajhones to come back.

Btw, Check out the video of me getting down......oh wait that wasn't even me.

DGD/DGI,

Welcome back, I hope that you do post again.  All of us have been guilty of doing "wrong" at one time or another, thanks for coming clean.  This board has a lot of quality people on it and I am sure that most of us welcome the friendly discussion.  Whatever position your son ends up playing, I wish him all the best except for when he plays Oxy...

------

I went to watch Gridiron Gang the other day...do any of you Oxy folks know if any portion of that was filmed on campus?  During parts of the movie, it certainly looked like Patterson Field...and the new field turf.

I stayed at home Friday night and watched the Oaks Christian game on FSN...as the game got out of hand early, and it was getting late(r) here in St. Louis (central time zone), I fell asleep...at one point, I woke up to the announcer talking about Occidental (something about maybe a coach from one of the teams had played at Oxy in the past).  I tried remembering when it was during the game so I could go back and listen, but I don't remember.  I think there was 2:00 and change left in the 2nd quarter.  Did anyone else here this comment...?  (This ain't L.A., so sitting at home on a Friday night watching high school football passes for excitement in my life these days).

If Oxy was not involved at all in Gridiron Gang or the Oaks Christian broadcast, then my past indescretions have truly caught up to me!

TigerSports will tell you that I rarely miss any of his football or basketball broadcasts too...

I didn't hear the broadcast, but the Oaks Christian coach is Bell Redell.  Redell is an Oxy grad and in the College Football Hall of Fame for his playing days at Oxy.  He played in the early 60's.

I think if you look at post-college pro football careers, you have to give the nod to Kemp.  If you look at lifetime impact on the game of football generally, I think Redell prevails.

They are all great in their own way.  In the end, it's my view that if we look strictly at the impact that each had on the Oxy program while at Oxy, Collins will come out on top . . . I think that's already the case.

Didn't know that, very cool.   ;D

Tough bye week for Oxy and Linfield.  Oxy drops another point in the top 25 to 11th and Linfield drops to 20th.  I hope that we get a big win against Claremont so that we stay in the top 25 in advance of our October 7 dance at Redlands.

And did all of you Dawg fans see the piece on Redlands in today's L.A. Times?  Not a bad article on the town that is clearly facing some serious challenges given the explosive growth all around.

SAVE THE GROVES!

cheers,
