Tooth - Just an FYI,

Jack Kemp's grandson (Jeff's boy) is a back up for Whitworth.
Oxy could end up meeting them in the playoffs.

And did all of you Dawg fans see the piece on Redlands in today's L.A. Times?  Not a bad article on the town that is clearly facing some serious challenges given the explosive growth all around.

SAVE THE GROVES!

cheers,

tooth

I'll second that! (especially as a guy who's lived in Thousand Oaks since the late 1960's - we used to be surrounded by orange groves as well)  Redlands is one of the few places I've been to in the IE that has a nice community feel to it...

I hope all the teams that had a bye week are up and ready for their next games.

With Cal Lu and the leo's resting, i think this Sciac game will be good. Both teams are coming in with good QB's in Jones and Doolittle. Although many may favor jones in doing better on the field, you cannot leave out doolittle. This guy has been doing well against teams Like UPS and Whitworth. IMHO, if Dolittle can find his rythm and his o-line can protect him, look to see the leo's putting up a good fight against an up and coming Cal Lu team. One can just hope that the young Leo D has matured for the past three weeks to play against a good Cal Lu offense.

As for Oxy, expect for the tigers to have studied UPS v.s, Staggs that will help them expose a defense that did not show up in tacoma. Eventhough, the staggs didn''t do well, i know that they will try to give some fits if they are allowed to stay in the game. ( Edge:Oxy over the *aggs, they are still asleep from their trip to the sound.)

The artist formerly known as DGD.  Great post a few days ago.  It takes a lot for you to admit your mistake and I think everyone is pretty much over it now.

I have 2 questions for you.  How does a kid from Westlake end up at Redlands and not Cal Lu?  I really am wondering how that happens.  I also was wondering if he (Wabby) is playing baseball at Redlands?  I follow SCIAC baseball as well as football and know that Redlands had a pretty solid team this year.  Just wondering, thanks.

Haha... Oxy Bob had it right, I was out with some friends watching the MNF game and seeing my fantasy football hopes this week go down the crapper with ATL's outstanding performance  :-\

Prognostications for this week anyone?

A dazed Stagg team comes to Oxy to open SCIAC play... and leaves with another loss.

Tough days for Tiger Football.

Tom Brady

Yes he is going to play baseball......that was one of the reasons he chose to go to Redlands....so he could play both sports....I would have sent this in a PM but I dont thave that ability yet. :(

Look for the dawgs to make some changes this week.  Hopefully for the better.  Do d3 teams not practice on Maonday and just watch film???  They sure could use a confidence builder before playing Oxy.  Usually the big rivalry game is played in the last week, not the first.  Is the rivalry a new one based upon Oxy's winning over the last few years?  Has it always been the big game for the dawgs or just recently?  Anyone...Anyone?????? :)

As to those young Oxy guys........so whats worse....getting up at 6 for work and make money or 9 and go to school? :D :D :D :D

Browneagle64

Dawg---- You asked "Is the rivalry a new one based upon Oxy's winning over the last few years?  Has it always been the big game for the dawgs or just recently"?
Since 2000 and probabily before that, the Coaching staff at Oxy has stressed out that the redlands game is actually one of the biggest games of the year. Eventhough Oxy-Pomona or Oxy-Whitter has history, nothing matches more than knockin off the big dawgs on any given saturday.

Btw, although I hate waking up at 5:00 am every weekday as most of you older people probabily do as well. IMHO i thinking its better than waking up and lifting weights at the crack of dawn. Would have loved doing that in the middle of the day

Eye of da TIGER

Umm its definitley worse waking up at 6 to go to work.  Especially considering that my first class was at 130pm so I was waking up at about 12, not 9 to go to school.  The only days its better to be a 22 yr old man in the business world in on free breakfast/casual fridays and the two days a month in which I get paid. Anyhow looking forward to the Oxy- CMS game, I was looking at the CMS website.  Its pretty cool how they have highlight videos from their games.  Their QB looks like he is a pretty good runner, is this because the quality of teams they are playing? I dont remember him being any factor in years past.  By the way, I suggest watching the video on their site of their game vs the team from Britain. Good god, people thought Lewis and Clark looks awful, take a look at the British.  ;D
4 is the smallest composite number, its proper divisors being 1 and 2. 4 is the smallest squared prime. 4 is the only number in the English language for which the number of letters in its name is equal to the number itself. 4 is also the number of titles in a row the tigers will have in '07!! Go Oxy

Early review of the Dawgs this week against Chapman.....

Chapman comes ready to pick apart a redlands defense that still need to improve from their 1st two games. Redlands offense takes off for the 1st and 1/2 quarters and then the old Q.B. rotation starts to appear again. Don't get me wrong though, Redlands will score early and fast, but that will be just about it after that. Although they are playing chapman, who is one level lower than the Whitworths or Trinity's, mistakes will haunt them.

Btw---Redlands O-line has 5 starters back from last year, what's going on?????

Browneagle....I have never been a fan of rotating qb's.  I think that rotating destroys rhythm and confidence of both qb's.  I also think it hinders the offense from jelling behind the cadence of one qb and often results in illegal proceedure calls and delay of game calls.

The Redlands defense isnt bad.  From my observation from the first game and listening to the second, they have been put in awful field position several times as a result of int's.  When you put a defense, any defense, in that position, especially against teams like Whitworth and Trinity, they are going to score.

IMO Redlands problems stems from a total lack of offensive continuity that results from either having the wrong people playing, rotating qb's and predictasbility in the offensive scheme. Without any other infreence intended, 11 int's in 2 games would be my focus if I were the coach.  Now, this lack of continuity may be the result of the rotating players....I dont know.    If Redlands is to contend for the league title, the offensive problem must be resolved and resolved quickly.  This post is just my opinion and only intended as a response to the discussion of the issue mentioned on this board, nothing else.   ;)

GO DAWGS....GO DEEP......dawg gone it!!!!!!! :D

Tuxguy

dawg gone it,

Was I O.K in my e-mail?
Long I know,  I hope it had some meaning.
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Tux,   yes and thank you for the kind words and advise.......I cant send a PM yet.

I've read every post on the SCAC board since the Trinity game.  There have  been many comments as to the very strong defense (they call it Black Flag) that Trinity has and some lively discussion as to whether or not Trinity has an excess amount of home field advantage.  Maybe Redlands is better than they looked.

Defense isnt the problem form what Ive seen.  It is offensively that they have ot come together.  If the ofense is productive...theywill be fine against the SCIAC.

I am anxious to see how they do on Saturday....I am prdicting a victory by 10- to 14 points.  I think Coach Maynard will put his foot down and make things work.
