It seems like a very insignificnt difference and aren't Willamette and PLU better than Colorado College?  Records are decieving.....(spoken like a true dawg fan).... :(

I guess you didn't want to read the criteria?

Just read the IIAC standings, I'm now a big fan of Luther, Simpson and Cornell - as well as whoever's playing Central and Coe  ;D

Pat - How come the d3football Run to the Playoffs (mentioned on the front page) won't be stopping in Thousand Oaks for the Cal Lu v. Oxy game??

Not enough national interest?  I would think it holds just as much interest as the Whitworth v. Linfield game... no?
Go TIGERS!!!

Tough days for Tiger Football.

I assume you're joking but in case you're not:

1. The NWC game will likely feature two ranked teams. The SCIAC game is unlikely to. A game between 12 and 18 carries more interest than a game between 11 and (33).
2. Keith has been to Occidental. He's never been to an NWC game.
3. Last year's score in one game was 47-32, the other 41-9.

Pat,
  Line 1: Point taken! :o
Line 2: Not a very good point ... weather is better in so cal!  ;D
  Line 3: Point taken! ;)

I guess looking ahead at the Cal Lu vs. Oxy game ... it would seem to us in wonderful So Cal that this game is huge because it could determine what team has a chance at the play-offs (even though oxy looks better based on its quality of wins ... per Pat's post).  However, on a larger scale the SCIAC is still on its own island in the eyes of the rest of the DIII community.

Hey who's says we cant treat it like our own little "Stagg Bow!"
O.C. RAH!

Well I'm half serious.  You mentioned some good points though and you guys are also covering a bigger game that weekend, Whitewater and MHB... so I can see where the greater interest would be.

Though I still think it would be nice to get a little press for the conference, and I also believe Cal Lu might be a couple spots higher at that point.
Go TIGERS!!!

Pat, is 1.250 a gap that cant be made up? I read the Quality of Wins Index and I understand that you must have a system to determine who goes and who doesnt but, obvioulsy the system isnt perfect.   It seems to me that it would be extremely unfair to CLU.

Of course, the d3 system makes much more sense than the BCS.......they need a playoff system.

Look for the dawgs to come out strong this week, I think they win by 3 td's.

GO BULLDOGS.......dawg gone it.

Pat Coleman

The system is perfectly fine: Win the league and get in. Cal Lu knows what it needs to do to get in. If it doesn't win the league it is at the mercy of the criteria.

With Oxy going to La Verne this weekend, do you guys think Oxy's DB's will be tested through out the day????? Will we see the infamous "Cheating" techniques or just a bunch of PI calls

Apparently, La Verne has become a pass happy offense as soon as they lost their RB's. With a QB like Dolittle behind the helm, can this be the first test in which Oxy will try to stall a big passing attack???? What do you guys think?

btw, Scandiii---with the new gym getting ready to open for Cal Lu fans and the public, does Cal Lu have any plans for an openning celebration?????

Can you believe that as soon as school open for Oxy Last year, the new field was used to hold freshmen orientation. But the main catch and the way that Oxy decided to open up the field was to have the Freshmen welcomed with music and inspiring words from the Great Carlos Santana. What a way to bless and open up the field.

Eagle-

The official dedication is set for October 21st (during Homecoming Weekend).
Please see: http://www.clusports.com/news/3088/

They've been playing Volleyball in it already and enjoyed a nice turnout from students and the greater community.  I've been in it a couple of times and it's everything it was promised to be.  I hope many of you get a chance to check it out in the near future.
