Anyway, moving on...

Did anybody see the Whitter-Chapman game?

The result was quite surprising to me, as I have seen both teams and I can't believe that the Chapman team that beat Pac Lu could have lost to Whitter, especially 17-0.

Congrats to Oxy for moving up in the polls.  As for the Oxy-ULV game, the first drive showed promise maybe a repeat of last years game, however the rest did not fair well.  You can't turn the ball over 6 times and win especially to a top ten team.  Look for the Leo's to win out though, I think they have it in them.

one more thing about the whole cut block thing, defenders get to tackle low and take out players knees, the cut block is an offensive players response to that.  Football is physical, people get hurt, cutting is part of the game and its pretty cool to see a well executed cut.  Hi-Lo'ing a player is not cool at all.

The only thing I can guess is that Chapman had trouble containg Scurlock and Whittier was able to control the ball...

I also think they have it in them, but there are many teams now with something to prove or build on.

Yeah the Leos are always dangerous with Dean Mozelle leading the way!  I've never been more pumped up then after hearing his pregame and half time speaches  ;).  Hope they arn't looking past Whittier to Redlands though.
Hail to the Orange!!!

dawg gone it

Fox, I agree with you on the "something to prove" statement.  Looks like LV and CMS are trying to show everyone they  belong and UR is trying to show everyone they are back.  All that aside, and just thinking ahead somewhat, next year ought to be a dandy.

With Collins gone, Oxy's complexion will change, UR has many players coming back and a great group of freshman to build on.  It should be very intresting  and exciting with every game a good one, well almost. :)

CRZK

DGI;  "Oxy's complexion will change with Collins leaving.."

Dream on DGI.  Goetz (spelling?) from what I have heard has a lot of potential, good size, etc.  In addition the O line will be another year older and wiser, they're doing pretty good right now! Defense will lose a couple of impact players but still have some weapons there as well.  Early prediction, 4-peat is not out of question.

However, if your point is the SCIAC will be stronger, at least in the top third to half, I think so.  CMS, Cal Lu, and yes even you guys will make it a great season next year.

One comment on the sportsmanship issue, have you been keeping up with the suspensions arising from Miami and FIU, 2 players from FIU dismissed and the helmet swinging kid from Miami out for the season.  That's good news,  and we thought not shaking hands was bad!!

You are right CRZk.

DGI, (Newbie) just dream on. Dream on DGI.  Oxy has an O-line that returned one starter. This line will be older and wiser, they're doing pretty good right now! Imho, this line did way better than 5 returning linemen for the UOR program. THat just tells you a lot in my opinion. (Not to start a piss match either)

You guys cant have it both ways....Collins is the best......no doubt....hard to replace...no question.......

So is Goetz as good as Collins......no way......he may be a very good qb.....but you will have a very difficult time convincing anyone he will step in and pick up where Collins left off, regardless of what you think of your OL.

A good OL might help him adjust quicker...but if you think your team will be the same without Collins........you are not giving him the credit he deserves.

Just my opinion. :)

I think CLU, CMS and LV  are all getting stronger from looking at their rosters and UR will be returning many starters and has an outstanding freshman class this year that will be ready next season.  It is going to be a very interesting year.  Oxy may win but it will be a dawg fight! :D :D

And so who you calling newbie????.....between the old me and the new me I have more posts and more time on this board than you.  I'll give you newbie! :D

OXY Oswald

His last name is Goltz.  I couldn't let his name keep getting butchered.
Go TIGERS!!!

Tough days for Tiger Football.

You're right on this opinion though. More schools are showing a growing talent pool. BUt Oxy has done this for the past 6 years. If all continues, 4 peat could sound like a plus...

Anyways, Newbie, I've been on this board for about 2 seasons now.  Its just that i don't post as much or more frequently as you or others. ;D

The "battle for the drum" is going to be great. With Homecoming being the main attraction, i assure you that Oxy will do its best to Destroy and burn the hens for dinner, before they even consider losing the drum.
I am sure no Oxy senior and vet wants to give up the drum. All alumni and former players would be disappointed if that happens too. You don't want luke wilson to be mad, would you??(oh wait, he only went to school at oxy for 1 year)

Tooth,

Old wise one. Oxy's Athletic department will honor Oxy's 1955 Championship team. Will you be showing up with your leather helmet and O2 tank????(Just kidding by the way. :D
