Im rooting for the Cards, imagine that....Jeff Soupan is a friend, a great guy and had another great season.  He is a Crespi grad who gives back to the school.  Last spring he took time to  work with my son and he was just the best.  He also has a great sandwhich grill that is re-opening across from my office building.  A hard guy not to cheer for.  Good luck Jeff.

I'll pull for Jeff Suppan sounds like a great guy but the Tigers have the pitching and the manager. Tigers in 6.  Oh, I forgot the Mets will be in there instead of the Cards.  Tigers in 6.

I'll be on the physically unable to perform roster this weekend as I had a little right shoulder arthroscopy yesterday.  This wing is sore!!  However, I will try to gut it out for the game at Patterson.  Look for the old guy with the sling.  I will try to dull the pain with adult beverages and for gastronomic satisfaction (and 2 million calories) a serving of Spaghetti al Bianco post-game.

DGI... Do you mean Jeff Suppan???

Btw, Just out of curiosity, what pre-activities does UOR or any SCIAC school do to fire up their homecoming celebrations. I didn't see or hear a lot last week while on ULV's campus.

Yeah, Suppan....better known as......Soup....

UOR has a long list of activities in conjunction with it's centennial aniversary.  One is a win over the Staggs.

dawg gone it...

The initials NWC have been kept to a minimum on this board so far this year, probably because of the jinx rule.

May I begin?

CMS Coach Candaele is a  product of the NAIA days configuration of the NWC.

...and since Redlands has not played CLU yet, their coach is from the NWC as well.

I mention this BECAUSE
(tho' it's probably considered a drive-by since it's on this board and not the NWC board)
in this past 4-5 years the SCIAC has battled it out only to have their chin straps handed to them in the playoffs by a NWC school. Redlands will not schedule LINFIELD any more but prefers to broaden their horizons, say traveling way down to Texas.
LINFIELD is now a kinder, gentler WILDCAT nation and our posters haven't mentioned ending the OXY season as much as they did in previous years. Partly because that was the past and partly because of the uncertainty of a playoff team this year.
In the past we have visited this board but it appears I'm the only fool stirring the pot.
Two NWC  products in your conference was a point.

Maybe Linfield hasn't been able to schedule any SCIAC teams as of late but Whitworth has reaped the benefits of getting to play the somewhat overrated SCIAC.  I personally don't think Oxy deserves a #9 ranking.  For the last several years they seem to be in the top 10 after going undefeated in the SCIAC only to bend over for linfield in the playoffs...failing to give the wildcats a game as competitive as the third place team in the NWC did.  One other thing I've noticed is that Occidental's non-conference schedule is a cake-walk.  Why not schedule tougher opponents?  maybe travel out of the state once or twice?

Rat dude . . . pay attention, Oxy got to Linfield in 2004 in the West Regional finals after beating the no. 2 NWC team, Willamette and the no. 1 MIAC team, Concordia Moorehead.  Last year we had Linfield in round 1 given that it was the sole NWC playoff team and the NCAA matches teams up based on budget rather than a true seeding.

Yup, the "Cats handled Oxy, but frankly your "drive by" opinion re Oxy's ranking doesn't mean a thing.  Indeed, we'll probably find out later this year when Whitworth, as the NWC no. 2 seed (after losing to the 'Cats) travels to the SCIAC for round 1.  Moreover, if you look at the Whitworth/Redlands and Oxy/Redlands differentials, they aren't all that far apart . . . amd if your "Rats should be no. 9 instead of 10 and sniffing Oxy's behind, well, I guess the playoffs will decide that won't they?

DOC, you're always welcome on this board!  Teach your other mates from the land of green and rain a few manners will you?

Oh, look, RFB has a cousin who lives in the Pacific Northwest.

Thanks for the detailed response to my question...appearantly you didn't notice that I'm new to the boards and may not have read a previous answer burried in over 200 pages of crap.  You guys in southern california are just as polite on these message boards as you are while driving.  Maybe I should ask one of the Linfield fans...the fans, players, and coaches seem to know Occidental better than Oxy does judging by the last two beatings they gave them.

D O.C.

I stand corrected. Would that be alphabet soup I'm going in? Apologies to Ric.

Which part of his answer required you to read through 200 pages?  I am confused, the 2004 results are very easy to find on the team pages...

Additionally, Oxy's non-conference schedule has been discussed here ad nauseam - if you're new to the board and don't want to read up on what's been discussed here, well, I guess you run the risk of having somebody respond to your message in a less than friendly tone.  You know - the kind of tone where you call our SCIAC discussion "200 pages of..."
