I think 509 needs some female company... he seems a little stressed. I have heard there are some massage parlors on Foothill in Upland that give "happy ending" massages......

dawg gone it

Staggo.......I think it will be a good game decided by as many as 10...in UR's favor.  The offense looked very good last week( I know PP isnt a test) but, offense is about timing, continuity and....confidence.  I think the offense found them last week.

UR's defense is the best in the SCIAC, by far......I think the Staggs will find it much more difficult to have success on offense than in any other game....and we know what a turnover or two can do to a team..

Let me know if you make the game, it would be fun to meet.

GO DAWGS.....GO DEEP.....dawg gone it.

It is strange DGI that you'd pick Redlands ;) Pride and loyalty is a good thing. Going to be a great game.
Should be there, got your message. I'll give you a call if/when I'm there.

Wish the Redlands game against OXY had been later in the year. Would have loved to see OXY play Redlands and then face CLU as their last two games of the year.

If CMS happens to be ahead in the 4th, I'll help out on the "Put Him In" cheer. I promise!  :)

509Rat:

Ok, good post, a bit of substance, a bit of acknowledgment with a dash of humility (a very small dash mind you  ;)). . . all in all, a good response and a credit to your alma mater.

But . . . I do have to address one part of your comments:

"What does history have to do with anything?  Been a Pirate since 2001...I don't know or care how whitworth performed back in the 70's, 80's, or 90's."

OK, so you're a young rat pup, and with youth we expect you to be a bit callow . . . so here's the condescending lesson from the old fart . . .

History has to do with TRADITION . . . it is that common bond that links all members of your college community to one another.  The Redlands players revel in the past glories of the 'Dawgs.  My personal Oxy roots are a third of a century old, but I share a common bond with guys like Jack Kemp, Jim Mora and Pete Tunney and those who went before (the great undefeated Raisin Bowl team of 1949 that beat Colorado State) . . . and I am connected to those who play today because of our shared experience.

It is the line that runs through all those who went before and those who will follow . . .

Take pride in whatever traditions exist at Whitworth, embrace its history and appreciate the vast community to which you belong . . .

The problem is that we have no football tradition at whitworth other than what we've started in the 21st century (other than that 1960 team).  I have no ties with the players from yester year and for you guys to slam me for how bad Whitworth was when I didn't attend is pointless.

But did you know that Jack Kemp's grandson Kory Kemp is currently a Pirate?

OXY Oswald

Rat -

We'd actually mentioned that a littler earlier in the season in a playoff discussion.  A possible Oxy/Whitworth match up would have some nice history to it.  Does Kory Kemp play at all?
Go TIGERS!!!

Tough days for Tiger Football.

1.  Yup, the Kemp connection has been made before.

2.  What do you mean "no football tradition?"  Whitworth football is 100 years old.  You've got a long tradition.  And we weren't slamming you for how bad Whitworth was (at least I wasn't) . . . we were slamming you for your callow baseless comments about Oxy . . . we weren't disrespecting Whitworth, we were disrespecting you.

You're a Whitworth alum . . . own it for crying out loud.  Stand up for it.  I love my Tigers and own Oxy's history,  good, bad and indifferent.

You'll figure it out someday . . . maybe . . . or maybe you're one of those guys who moves on from college and doesn't feel any particular connection . . . surely you don't mean to say that you are a fan of the 'Rats only when the team is winning?

in the meantime, feel free to visit here, but expect to get slammed if you disrespect any SCIAC program.

tooth,

Crying like a baby....not really ...but very nice post.  And 509 rat...maybe you should learn something about Whitworth's history......even though they wern't very good......it might help you appreciate the present good  run even more.

Just like the Oxy guys........ ;)

Actually, Ks State had a football traditon of something like 100 years and were consistently bad!!  At least until Bill Snyder got there.  So Rat you may have a point!!  Is Whitworth the KSU of the NWC??

Just joking.

However tradition is a great thing.  I suspect, especially at the D3 level a tradition of competitive football is a huge factor in getting quality athletes to attend the school and pay the big bucks.  Again, refer to Linfield, Mt. Union, St. John's, Oxy, and-----yes, even the Dawgs.

BTW, ECS are you doing a masters thesis on football analysis?  ;D

DGI, now that we have a Rat on the board, you can feel good that there is another Newbie that might be picked on.

Rat---Just out of curiosity, did you pick to go to Whitworth just for the sake of playing football? (Not to be taken as a joke). Did you get any info and any history about the school and athletics out of your pre-admissions tour?

Oxy Bob,
Been to both places and you have it ass backwards.  Mac is like a frickin resort compared to Spokane.  Oh and for 509 Rat, the only history you need to know is the date of the annual Rat Killing at the Catdome.

Phone it in
