Sabretooth Tiger

So I'm thinking for seeding purposes, that all loyal Tiger fans need to be rooting big time for Coe over Central come Nov. 4.  Go Kohawks!   ;D

Sabretooth Tiger

I had a cousin that went to Coe as a swimmer in the early 60's . . . had a Coe pennant hanging in my bedrrom when I was in elementary school.

Never heard of Loras until I started watching the D3 boards and frankly, haven't paid enough attention to the IIAC to be a well informed as you clearly are . . .

Oh, te be part of the retired class . . .

thanks for the guidance and cheers,

Go Duhawks!

LadyTiger

Well, hello boys!
I have decided that there is just way too much testosterone on this site and it could use a little bit of a lady's touch every once in a while. Now, I don't claim to be a football expert, and I never will, but I am a huge fan. I have also been a part of SCIAC athletics myself and hopefully I can help shed some light on things like playoff pictures. As for the playoff situation this year....

If both Linfield and Whitworth receive playoff bids they will most likely end up playing the first round against each other due to cost issues. A similar situation happened last year with basketball, when Oxy played CMS in the first round. So....whoever wins SCIAC (cough cough....OXY) will most likely play a team out of the Midwest or Texas. Who goes where will probably be based on ranking at that point.

I hope that helps!

GO TIGERS!

Lady Tiger....welcome to the insanity!  Great, another Oxy fan to contend with.

Your first post is accurate regarding that male stuff.  Have fun and what ever you do, dont ever agree with Bob. ;)

Welcome LT!  I will point out that notwithstanding last year's Oxy v. Claremont matchup in the hoops playoffs, that in 2004 the NCAA did not pair up Linfield and Willamette in round one, instead sending Willamette to meet the mighty Tigers at Patterson field.

I have heard that interconference playoff match-ups is a relatively new phenomenon. Unfortunately I think that it all comes down to finances. DIII is low on the pyramid and cost has really started to precede any other playoff qualifications. If you will also remember, that was the last year of the first round bye in football playoffs. Linfield didn't have to play anyone that weekend. With the elimination of this feature last year, that situation will likely never happen again.

Hello all!

I've been reading these posts for a while now and felt that this week was a great time to start contributing.  Here's another OXY fan!

Lady, you make a great point about there being no first round byes anymore.  If withworth and linfield both make the playoffs and play eachother, that would be a great rematch for the year.

Looking forward to this weekend's game on in TO, can't wait to see the new sports complex.

good points and I'd forgotten about the bye for the 'Cats.  I guess all I can say is that I hope you're wrong, I think interconference seeds in round one are horrible.

welcome to the board tigerbomb.

Tgerbomb....welcome...have fun

Next thing.......... Bob's wife will become a poster. ;)

Tom Brady

I would strongly suggest all of the fans coming up to Thousand Oaks this weekend to leave about an hour early and take a look at the new athletics building.  Other things still being built are the HUGE pool and the top of the line baseball field/stadium.  Have a nice tour and tell your youngsters that they can have it all......as long as they dont end up at Oxy ;)

EastCoastStag

I think it is Bob's wife  ;) Either that or he has split personalities.

Kidding.

Corporate world... is..... I have no soul.
Then again, no CMC grad has a soul. There. Now I feel better about myself.

No good games to comment on this weekend for CMS to raise an eyebrow. That is, unless a Whittier poster appears.

LadyTiger

Sorry to disappoint, but I think I'm probably a little young to be Mrs. Bob.  ;)

Bob, I agree about CMS unfortunately getting shafted on the playoff home court advantage last year. However, maybe CMS should take the Oxy bid as a STRONG suggestion that they are in desperate need of a remodel. My junior high school gym could fit bigger crowds than their hole in the hall. Thankfully, for fans of both teams, venue had some share in the decision making process.

Just wondering.....is the Cal Lu football stadium really a big improvement? I haven't been out there since last spring.

The heck with CMS. Oxy should take Cal Lutheran's beautiful new facility as a strong suggestion that Rush is in desperate need of a remodel.
OxyBob

The powers that be at Oxy are well aware of the need for a remodel.  It's simply a matter of resources and priorities.

Tooth raises a good point about priorities.  Many of you know that CLU's facilities were lacking for a long time, but it was clear that there were other things that needed to be built first (library, science center, chapel, humanities building, educational technology center, and many new residence halls).  There is also the question of where your money is coming from - I have heard from several different sources that athletic facilities are much more difficult to raise money for than academic facilities.

In regards to the football stadium, Brown Eagle will be thrilled to know that the playing surface is in its best shape in recent memory because it's no longer used for everything under the sun like it was during construction. :)

The new facilities at CLu is something..it should definetly help them recruit and attract some good players..GO CLU
