Oxy Bob,
The CLU food stand does not sell spicey dogs so if that's what you want bring your own and have the CLU baseball players that operate the stand cook them  for you! Far as is known to date an all new or refurbished  football stadium is not planned anytime soon.Nobody appears to  know why or when this will ever become a reality.Rumors have it that plans for a new soccer field and softball field comes before a football stadium. The rumors  on the campus are always the same that no immediate plans on horizon for new football stadium. It appears football is  simply not a high priority.it only took 126 years to build a basketball arena on the USC campus so perhaps CLU powers to be  will address the football issue sooner than this!

paohca-

I'm glad you referred to them as rumors, because that's what they are...

The new football stadium will be built when there is money in hand, if a couple of football alumni decide to write some big checks then it's game on for the new stadium.  That is precisely what happened with the baseball stadium (Thank you Ullman Brothers!  :) )

As for the campus support for football please remember there are folks on this board who have a longer institutional memory than yourself.  For a long time at CLU (into the late 80's) football received a lion's share of the financial resources available for athletics.

Russell White ....an ex CLU basketball player is now the head basketball coach at Crespi hs......everyone is looking forward to him bringing the program back to its former glory.

Paocha-  If those doge were not the spicy kind then I have some serious problems.  I was tasting and "feeling" the 2 I ate the other day all the way into sunday.  Maybe it was the 10 beers after the game with some old friends from way back when.....the mid 90's ;)

In a previous discussion, DawgFan1 asked:

>>I asked about this a few weeks ago but don't recall getting an answer. In the event Redlands wins the last three and Oxy losses one game, possibly to CLU, this will leave UR and Oxy with one loss each. Will this result in a league tie or will Oxy get the Title because they beat Redlands?<<

I don't recall reading the answer to the question, so here it is: If Oxy and Redlands end up with the same conference W-L record then they'd tie for the SCIAC title, and Oxy would advance to the playoffs as the automatic qualifier based on head-to-head results.

OxyBob

OxyBob,

Thank you for your answer. I realize Oxy will be ahead because they beat UR. However, the only way there can be a league tie is if Oxy looses a game and UR wins the rest of them. This would require Oxy to lose to one of the teams UR beat. Do you, or anyone else, know if this would be considered in determining the playoff participant? As I stated earlier, there is much football left to be played and several assumptions will have to come true for this scenario to play out, but I am very curious about this possibility.

Regards,

DawgFan1

<<Right now Oxy is 4-0 in the league, and Redlands is 2-1. Oxy still has to play CLU and Whittier; Redlands plays La Verne, Whittier and CLU. If Oxy loses a game and Redlands wins its last 3, then both Oxy and Redlands will be 5-1. Oxy and Redlands would tie for the SCIAC conference championship. Oxy would be the post-season automatic qualifier based on its head-to-head win over Redlands. The Tigers would head to the playoffs, and the Bulldogs' 2006 season of "Return To Dominance" would come to an end. They'd go back to ordering out for pizza and watching football on TV. You know, "Return To Dominoes."

OxyBob>>

OxyBob,

Thanks again for your answer. However, you didn't need to add the last two sentences.

Just a quick note on Oxy's problem in not considering a face lift for Rush Athletic department: Academics come first.

with the recent state of the art Physical science center on campus and a new dorm being built on campus, oxy would rather put things like these up first. In the mean time, as much as it stinks, all else is second to none. Slowly but surely, things at the athletic department will get done. (hhmmmm it takes about 7 years to do things....i.e. face lift to the weight room, the pool, and that sweet field turf that i wish we had a long time ago.

Btw, Just to end a lot of peoples hope, Oxy comes out with a victory at CAl Lu.
Come on guys, its been 8 weeks in which a young o-line has grown into men and done their best to protect the Q.B. In addition, this is several seniors last show down with Cal Lu, i am sure they want to leave 4-o against a good Cal Lu program. Then again, you have a senior Q.b that will give it his all to do what he does best and help his team come out with a "W". With that said, Oxy's O rolls, The "Dark side" on defense marches all over Danny jones( if they D-line stays health ) and special teams have a key afternoon. (Oxy 42- Cal 24)

Well guys, the way I see it, if CLU beats OXY and wins the remainder of the games,
including Redlands, then Oxy will be watching the TV at Dominos Pizza. This possibility leaves a dilemma for us Redlands' fans. Do we want UR to tie for a SCIAC Championship, "OR" do we want OXY out of the playoff picture completely?

"TO BE CONTINUED!"

Dawg fan......this board is to discuss football...not moral and ethical dilema's...... :D

Gotta root for the dawgs all the way but I wouldnt be upset if the Kingsmen beat Oxy.  Sorry tooth, nothing personal.......in any event....any SCIAC  team that makes the playoffs will have my support..........and if its Oxy and they are fortunate enough to host round one, I will be there cheering for them...just dont make me sit anywhere near you know who and have to hear him try to sing that song. ;)

DawgFan1

DGI...I agree we need to back Redlands all the way. However, I have to admit, getting Oxy out of the picture does have a nice ring to it (for which I give OB all the credit for my thoughts on this subject)

By the way, several references have been made regarding OB singing a song. What song??? What did I miss along the way?

Assuming I can break away from family "duties", I am hoping to catch my first SCIAC game this weekend up in T.O.

CLU's campus and field is right off the 23 right?

Another question - any chance this game will be competitive?  Looks like Oxy laid the wood on the Kingsmen last season and CLU to the tune of 41-9 and has pretty much been winning their games this season by an average clip of 25 pts!

What says the board?

and........if UR  beats CLU....and......if CLU beats Oxy.....we share!  Wouldn't that be special!!!!!!!! :D :D :D

Relative to the LV game.....I think it's pretty much the same prognosis as with PP and CMS....the dawg defense will dominate the game....the dawgs will win.....the final acore is pedicated upon the efficiency of the dawg offense......if they turn the ball over and fial to take advantage of scoring opportunities it will be a close game if not...they should win by 3 td's.

GO DAWGS.....GO DEEP.....dawg gone it.

23 to Olsen Road & follow the signs (go west)

Last year's game at Oxy was by far the worst game the Kingsmen played last year.  Oxy had a great team and CLU needed to play their best game and instead played their worst.  The Kingsmen fell behind early, and then the few chances they had to make it more of a contest were blown (fumble going in from the one, interception in the red zone, late hit penalty after stopping the Tigers on 3rd down, etc.).  If you look at results against common opponents from last year the Kingsmen compare quite favorably, but that doesn't change the fact that they didn't get the job done at Oxy, who was a worthy SCIAC champ.

That said, I think there's every reason to believe this will be a much more competitive game.  It's at home in the afternoon, and (I hope) the Kingsmen have already gotten their worst effort of the season out of the way.  I am looking forward to a great game.
