Try collecting one third of that! ;) :D

Only one third?  I usually get at least 40% of nothing!

It was an amazing game, both teams deserve a lot of credit for one of the most well played and exciting football games I've seen at any level...

Bob and Tooth have provided a very accurate description of the ebb and flow, I'll add a few observations here just to get them out of my head, and reserve the right to say more later in the week ;)

CLU played almost error free football (one turnover and but a handful of penalties)  Oxy played the closest thing to an error free game I've ever seen (no turnovers and one false start penalty)

The interception was a heartbreaker.  I believe it was 3rd and 8 on the Oxy 13 near the end of the 3rd quarter.  Ostland deflected it and the other kid made a nice play to haul it in.  More of a great play by the Oxy D than a mistake by Jones.  It really hurt to leave the red zone with no points at that juncture.

Oxy ran the no huddle for the entire second half, which gave the CLU Defense serious trouble.  The Kingsmen had platooned very successfully in the first half.  I can't imagine there are many other D3 QBs out there besides Collins who can run the no huddle that effectively for an entire half (unless of course that's your team's normal MO).  He is an amazing player (as I've said many times before) and if you haven't seen him play yet you should while you have the chance.

Finally, I don't know if I've ever seen such a close game that had so many close plays in it:
-Rojas stepped just out of bounds on the three (before diving into the end zone) on the play right before CLU's end of half field goal
-Collins made a great 8 yard run to convert a key 4th down by inches on Oxy's last TD drive
-On 4th and ten with 2:00 left it looked the Kingsmen were going to convert but the Oxy DB made a great play to get a piece of the ball and knock it loose
-and then there's the field goal attempt at the end of the game, apparently the statue of "Touchdown Martin" (Luther) couldn't summon a big enough gust of wind to get the ball those extra 3 yards  ;)

It was nice to get a chance to talk with Bob - sorry I mssed you Tooth.  I'm sure we'll get a chance to meet in the future.

Congrats again to the Tigers on a great win - I hope they represent the SCIAC well in the playoffs.

What a great article and very accurate.....love of the game and a desire to play is what it is all about....

The carna asada taco's were pretty good too. ;D

Bob is right. Forget the rankings.

What Oxy needs to do as of today is sit and go over all mistakes. They must feed off of the critiscism from their Cal Lu flim, they must stay focused, they must clear up huge mistakes that should never have happend this late in the season, and they must get better.  Foget a chant of 3 peat for SCIAC, the tigers need to roll and finish out all games on a high note if we are all looking for them to go deep in the postseason.

With all that said, Look for the tigers to not Be like their LA counter parts in UCLA and USC, as Mr. Simmers has been trying to point out in the L.A. times.

That's exactly what the team needs to do, but us old fart fans need to squeeze every drop of enjoyment, speculation, musing, prediction, wishing, hoping, fantasizing, and dreaming that we can while the gettins' good.

And Mr. Simers is absolutely right!

What, no old old fart/dinosaur/dusty as the hills/throwback jokes BE?

Hey, good for the old farts. If it wasn't for us, this board would be boring.
As my old friend said, "were not as old as dirt but we can remember when it was patented"

but us old fart fans need to squeeze every drop of enjoyment, speculation, musing, prediction, wishing, hoping, fantasizing, and dreaming that we can while the gettins' good.......... ;D :D ;)  Hahah thats true tooth, on any given day for you old folks the meds, heart conditions or Oxygen tank can given, leaving you old folks in never knowing what happened towards the end of the SCIAC season.

As for the young grasshoppers, i think we can wait just for awhile and hopefully stay focused on the next opponent.                   Get better!!!!!!!

Oh man, my Leos were so close to making a great 4th quarter comeback on the dogs yesterday....  they were marching the ball up the filed with a minute left trying to score the go ahead touchdown, untill La Verne fumbled on the Redlands 33 yardline with 30 seconds left. Redlands wr's burned some of our db's... We lost three starters in that spot since the begining of the season. That kid Godrey is pretty darn fast. Helluva catch on his 57 yard td!
Game against CMS should be a good one!
Hail to the Orange, Hail to the Green,
Hail to the Leos, FIGHT ULV!!!

I hope Oxy gets a first round game at home....so cousin Guido and the boys can come. ;)
