Here is the link to that ABC news broadcast on Occidental for anyone who missed it or is interested.  You might have to allow pop-ups on your broswer and there are a couple short commercials before the clip starts.

do  some of  these numbers mean anything to you ? They are on the front page most all the time.

NWC   17  - 9   ,,  And I  think  in a shorter period of time than  your sciac..

SCIAC  2 -4

PLus not to mention the 51 years too??? And Several Natoinal Championships  NAIA & NCAA...

Go NWC

It's in the same period of time. All of those stats are since the automatic bids were put into place, 1999.

I did not ask if the NWC has a better past playoff performance record than the SCIAC (which is what I assume you are trying to point out). That is obvious and I wouldn't question that. I was looking at THIS season, maybe I didn't make that clear. There is no reason to get snippy. I was simply posing the question as a new line of discussion. Yes, I know that RECENT past performance does play a role in ranking and such, but the fact that you won a NAIA title has little relevance on this year's playoff seeding.

Side note, yes those are the numbers from after the automatic bids were put in place, but there was some years in there (sue me for not knowing how many) when the SCIAC did not receive an automatic because there were not enough teams in the league (Pomona was an unofficial football member).

Your ex wife...a bullDOG, must have really done you wrong. :D :D :D :D

Go Oxy........trap the Rats...... ::)

Bob, someday I will tell you privately about Oxy recruiting.  Not knocking the school or its academics....just an interesting story.

Hmm, lady tiger - they must teach interesting logic and math courses at Oxy if you really believe Whitworth barely beat La Verne.

We look forward to seeing Oxy in the first round.

On another note....I just can't seem to understand why everyone is saying that the NWC is better than the SCIAC. Yeah, Whitworth is good and Linfield is never terrible, but I'm just not convinced.

LT,

Tell somebody in the SCIAC to set up a regular season game vs. Linfield and maybe we can convince you.  All I know Linfield has yet to lose to anybody in the SCIAC:

1998 vs Redlands: 24-23
1999 vs Redlands(SCIAC champ): 49-0
2000 vs Whittier: 43 - 7
2001 vs Whittier: 36-13
2002 vs Redlands (SCIAC champ): 59-21
2003 vs Redlands(SCIAC champ): 49-10
2003 vs Redlands(SCIAC champ): 31-23
2004 vs Oxy (SCIAC champ): 56-27
2005 vs Oxy(SCIAC champ): 63-21

That works up to an avg score of 45-16.  Please do spare me the "this year" conversation because I don't know what a Linfield vs. SCIAC team score would wind up being because nobody in the SCIAC will play Linfield this year or in the upcoming season(s).

I hate to keep playing the "won't play us card".  I would love the NWC and SCIAC to have an active relationship to help make sure the conferences are getting in-region DIII games but it's just not happening.

Haha, that's actually pretty funny. I had received that bit of information from a source that will remain un-named. Further research has concluded that you are correct, not that close. My bad, everyone gets rotten info every once in a while ;)

Still interesting to look at overall records NWC vs. SCIAC this year which is pretty darn even. I was never really questioning Whitworth being good. And yes, definitely look forward to a trip up North.....this Oregonian can't quite handle 93 degrees in November!

I too am a bit incredulous at the purported reasons that Chapman is not in the SCIAC.  Oxy Bob, though I won't single out any school regarding academic deficiencies at Chapman, let's just say that my brother got into a certain SCIAC school and, well, he, uh, may have not exactly over-achieved in high school.

Chapman has an accredited law school (something only one other SCIAC school can say -- at least until that school's gets pulled) and is building like crazy.  They don't appear to be University of Phoenix or Argosy or something like that (though there are a couple of SCIAC schools with UofP-like satellite campuses).   Perhaps it's because they compete well athletically or perhaps it has something to do with politics, since Jorge Bush would gets lots of love at a rally at CU.

I see Chapman as a younger version of Pepperdine.  Attracts a lot of business and conservative $$.  Don't really have any knowledge about their undergraduate academics.  I will say, however, that having a law school doesn't really mean anything as relates to the quality of the undergrad program . . . a law school can, however, be a great cash cow for the institution.

Since the American public is fascinated with lists, it is proposed a new one be started, namely "Educational Institution with Best Combination Football Team-Law School". #1 one on that list , hands down, is The University of Michigan.

For your information  The NWC has yet to receive an Automatic BID to the dance (Pool B   by invitation ONLY)   .  Which should answer your question as why the NWC is a tougher conference ..
Like WC 11 Said , PLease give us a game and we will show you just how the cow ate the cabbage...

CLU v UR.....Will it be an all out effort to win the last game of the year or......a dud?

I hope the dawgs can find the intensity that they were playing with prior to last Saturday.  If they do, and play for pride, it will be a good game...if not...who knows.   I hope to see the defense return to its prior self, they are fun to watch.

The end of what has to have been a very frustrating season for the Bulldogs.  I hope the kids realize what their potential is and work hard in the offseason to reach it next year.  Good Luck Bulldogs.

CRZK

DGI.  On the UR-Cal Lu game.  If I were a fan or alumni of either school I would be disappointed not to see a knock down fight.

As a coach I would tell my squad that this is for pride and to set the tone for next year.  So the key seniors start, the normal starters are in and we take it from there.  If the game is decided by the 4th qtr then maybe we season some of the young kids.  I would expect the game is too important for either school not to go all out.

Especially for UR!!  I mean imagine additional board material for Oxy Bob if UR totally dominates....3rd place ::)
