I think the Chapman administration made some bad decisions when it first came over from the NAIA, in terms of transfer baseball and football players, and is continuing to pay for it. It may take more than the 12-14 years that have passed for Chapman to live down that reputation.

Pat,

You beat me to the punch.

No problem -- you had much more detail that I didn't have the ability to put my hands on quickly.

With that comment you deserve to lose to the Poets...your comment reflects a total lack of respect for those players .....and......none of the prior qb's are a Collins.....and without him.....you lose to CLU.

My point is that you guys are simply bad winners.........we all bow to you for being a...totally dominant program....hell you might even beat Ohio St.

One lesson that I have always preached to my son while in sports is to be a gracious winner because....you dont always win....maybe there is a lesson in there for you.

DGI---- Newbie, as long as you have read my post, i am sure that you know that i am not disrespectful. Not only that, there has never been a  time where i disrespected any players from any SCIAC school at all.
Heck, the most that i was trying to bring up was insight on what Oxy does to prepair for the Whitter game.

Thats all. I bet you didn't even mind to check the past when Oxy lost to the Poets

( it was in 2000 btw, it was tough seeing the disrecpect that they had when we tried handing over the shoes. In case you did not know, they simply ran over to ourside line, yanked it, broke the shoes and went wild on the middle of our homecoimg field. I know that this was some info that we kept on passing to the younger kids to get them ready. No disrespect at all.

dawg gone it,

I dont think its fair to say that Oxy posters are bad winners and like Browneagle said, he wasnt being disrespectful at all, not sure where you are getting that from? Lets hold the predictions for next year until the offseason or in the downtime of the summer or at least until this season is over.  As others have said, Oxy has won before without Collins and will win games in the future without him. Saying that without him the run ends, is being disrespectful to the other 70 players on the Oxy team that bust their ass day in and day out.  Who knows what the future may bring, Redlands may land a Collins esque QB next year, wouldnt that be fortunate for your Redlands team......... or would it?  ;)
4 is the smallest composite number, its proper divisors being 1 and 2. 4 is the smallest squared prime. 4 is the only number in the English language for which the number of letters in its name is equal to the number itself. 4 is also the number of titles in a row the tigers will have in '07!! Go Oxy

Tiger,

I guess that 99.9% of my vent is directed at a certain someone.  Maybe I was a bit unfair to browneagle...sorry......and your right about next year....we have all summer to debate those issues.....and finally...maybe they already have one? ;)

Cute come back. ;)

I think if you look at my post closely, you cannot come to that conclusion.  Now there have been a couple recent posts from some Dawg fans about looking at their non-conference schedule--maybe one tough and one average team.  Perhaps a valid point.  As far as Oxy's schedule goes CC this year was not the rollover they have been in the past.  In fact CC looks to go .500 for the first time in a while.  And they played some tough teams, including from the NWC.

Actually, far from your opinion, how about this.  Why schedule Linfield just to play them twice?  Once in the schedule and once in the first or 2nd round?  As far a loss goes, that is immaterial for the SCIAC as long as you win the conference.  So again,  what is the point??  What does either school gain.

In fact, look at the playoffs for the last three years.  Regardless of Oxy's schedule, three years, three NWC teams.  Do you really think that if Oxy (or any SCIAC champ for that matter) went out and beat "Trinity or Whitworth or Central or for that matter Linfield in the non-conference they would have Oxy or the SCIAC champ NOT leave the west coast??  So that is my point.

Now you have well thought out opinions can you address my thoughts w/out the jab?

DGI;

Glad to see your latest post.  I have to say that most of the posters on this board have given credit where credit is due.  UR has talent, they had their problems early on, had problems with T/O's as well.  But they have a potentially great game coming up and can use it as a launching point for next year.

However, it seems, again (I know I have) have had postive things to say about the other schools and that, again at least I do, look forward to a strong SCIAC run next year.  Oxy has some great solid kids waiting their turn to start, they have a strong RB who is going to be a Sr.,  Cal Lu we all know has a strong QB coming back, and the Dawgs, while having a tough year appear to be deep in talent and will compete.

I do have to say this recent explosion in sniping and "what until you lose Collins"  is what is more insulting.  DGI you know this more than a lot of folks.  Those types of comments demean the poster as well as dissing the rest of a bunch of kids on the Oxy team who should see a lot of conference kudos and who have had a lot to do with the teams success.

I don't feel that Oxy posters have been bad winners. Maybe a little arrogant but that comes with the territory when your team is on top. As a Redlands alum I would be lying if I said I have not acted the same way in the past. I will be rooting for Oxy to go all the way, I don't want them to lose but rather wreck house. Will I be critical of their play? No doubt because they represent the conference. The better they do the more recognition and respect the conference as a whole gets. I know Redlands has never won a playoff game but they have helped push the conference upwards and forward toward that goal. There will be plenty of time to talk smack between schools once the playoffs are complete. So for now Go Oxy.

CRZK

There you go RFB!!

That is the key for any SCIAC champ!  The farther past the 1st round the better for the entire conference!

And if it is your turn next year that is who gets my support

I disagree here. Redlands played Linfield twice in 2003 and I feel that their early game against them was beneficial. They were blown out early in the year but that experience helped prepare them for the second meeting in the playoffs. That game was close and I am sure the early meeting had a lot to do with a very good playoff game.

RFB,

Thank you.

Everyone else, let's wait until this year is over before we start talking about life w/o Collins, etc.  With all of the recognition Oxy has gotten the last 3+ years for its football team, who know what kind of players they will be able to land.

Outside of football, Oxy is still more well known for its academic reputation than for anything else.  The administration has done a great job in raising its national profile.  I promise you, when (most) high school guidance counselors around the country think about referring a student to Oxy, football is not the primary reason.

dawg gone it

Ok, as I said before I am hoping Oxy does well in the playoffs.  I agree that all SCIAC schools should be supporting Oxy......my complaint is that one certain poster is constantly taking shots at UR.  Ok, so we need to be thick skinned, I agree again, sometimes you just get sick of the nanny nannies........from a certain individual.

I certainly meant no disrespect to the Oxy players...football is a total team effort and they certainly put forth the effort, they clearly deserve to be where they are......I didnt think of it as a dis to other members of the team when it really was. Sorry tigers.

It is really tough to support another team when the fans of that team are constantly disparaging your program....especially when a family member is out there busting ...his ass....so in some respects it goes both ways......I personally did not mean to insult the Oxy team....... only Bob ;)

DawgHeaven

First and foremost I am for the betterment of the coference at all cost.  Second, playing a weak OOC does not do that for the SCIAC schools.  Lets face it, going to the playoffs and getting killed by Linfield does absolutely nothing, but prove do not belong in the upper eschelon.  Third, Oxy has had a great, for a SCIAC school, three year run.  Would that have happened had the Redlands teams of the late nineties and early 2000's not done what they did.  A Gagliardi award '99, that year they would have won the national title, two very good showings in the playoffs.  Fourth, I hope Oxy does well in the playoffs to better the conference, but I have seen both teams play and I think Oxy does not have the size upfront nor the speed to beat Whitworth.  If I have to eat crow, which I hope that I do, then I will.  Pre diction for next year, when Redlands is back on top OxyBob's new name will be URBob. ;D

Just wondering which year that was?  99?
