The problem is that we have no football tradition at whitworth other than what we've started in the 21st century (other than that 1960 team).  I have no ties with the players from yester year and for you guys to slam me for how bad Whitworth was when I didn't attend is pointless.

Per his post on the NWC board, now I understand why (509)Rat thinks that a loss at Spokane will silence me and OB . . . he loves his 'Rats when they win and disowns them when they don't . . . and somehow projects his own values onto others.

Sadly mistaken . . . but on the bright side, perhaps he's develop some character and decide to remain a 'Rat fan even in the event that they fall to the Tigers . . . let's give that scenario a chance to play out! ;D

Monrovia cat.......I guess some guys might consider what I said about to's as a whine, it wasnt inteded that way...just an observation and opinion.  As a fan, its hard when you see your team reach its potential and then wonder why they couldnt do it all year.

Dawg---I hope you don't think I was calling you a "whiner"---I was actually taking issue with the fact that when we've pointed out, like you did, that if it wasn't for the turnovers...... we've been jumped on and, I believe, called "whiners" by certain individuals....that was all :)

Yup, the Tigers will have to play inspired, focused ball and will have to consistently execute.  No debate or disagreement.  Any letdown will much more difficult to overcome . . .never said it would be easy.   ;)

I didnt think you were.  While the win over CLU  was great, it has another side.  It shows how good a team UR could have been.  Its a bit frustrating and yet very encouraging for next year.  The future is very bright for Redlands, many returners, a very talented freshman class that has had a year to develope and mature and a great coaching staff that will keep the boys on track and working hard.  Watch out for the dawgs next year.

I am very glad that they finished strong with a big win.  It will certainly help them carry over to start strong next year.

Go Oxy.....good luck.

Just checked the Whitworth and Occidental websites to see what information had been posted about the game.

While Whitworth has a brief post announcing who they are playing in the first round, Oxy's website doesn't even have results of last night's game on it.  Is that typical?  I would think there are plenty of people out there who want to know the results, both because it is a rivalry game and because of the playoff implications.

Also, where can a fan go to check out Occidental's season stats and box scores?  I don't find those on the website either.

Huh?  Why would I want to live in Pasadena?  Overpriced housing in a city with crappy schools?  No Thanks!  Actually I grew up in San Marino which I'm sure you know is a place many people would like to live (once you get past the fact that everybody is richer than you are and the City won't let you put up a bird-house without approval from the Building Commission)!  :)

Tooth--don't worry I'll root for Oxy if they get past the Rats this coming weekend!

Occidental fans,

Some good news for your boys. I mentioned to the Whitworth fans that they might get two home games IF they get past you. Well, it seems there is a decent chance you guys will get a home game in round two IF you get past Whitworth. The reason is the big upset Bethel had over St. Johns on Saturday. St. Johns is the #7 seed now, playing #2 Central. If you win and Central wins, it looks like you'll be heading to Iowa. However, if you win and St. Johns wins (and St. Johns beating Central would not be a shock to me), Oxy (#6) is the higher seed and would get a home game. Thought you guys might find that interesting. UW-Whitewater on the other side of the West bracket is not a bad thing, either.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

I believe the johns got a big break getting away from UWW.

DutchHawk

One of the Johnnie fans said earlier in the MIAC forum that they were overrated to be the 3rd in the nation. It should be a great game though. Im going to guess you guys wouldnt be looking forward to a late December trip to the midwest...coming from Oxy's perspective anyways?

Yes, this isn't a bad setup for St. Johns, either. They are on the opposite side of the bracket of UW-Whitewater and UW-La Crosse. Yes, they will have to play on the road, but they always have a tough team, great coach, and the last time they were seeded #7 in the West they went all the way to the Stagg Bowl. The West is brutal, as usual.

Its true, too bad the NCAA couldnt afford to split it up more...having Whitworth play Oxy isnt quite fair in the first round...but I dont know much about your guys' schedule and such out there.
