Fierce When Roused

LadyTiger

I've been looking around SCIAC websites, and as far as I can tell, Redlands is the only school to release info about the all conference selections. Technically they aren't suppose to do that until the SCIAC has officially posted the results, oh well. That's probably why more school don't have the info up as of right now, including Oxy.

Hopefully someone at least notified the powers that be which guys made the all league selections to help with all region and such. However, the past has shown that all region and all american selections do not necesarrily follow the all conference picks. Stats are stats and there are usually fewer politics involved at the regional and national levels.

Congrats to all the players who know they made all conference! And BOOOO to the SCIAC for keeping all the fans in the dark!

Redlands also said it was going to "Return to Dominance." They jumped the gun on that one, too.

Right again Bob, they were off by one year!

Congrats to all on the All-SCIAC teams. Anyone notice any big snubs? I thought the RB from Redlands would've shared 1st team with Oxy's Andersen instead of Rojas from Cal-Lu. Zchafer(sp?) still came away with 2nd team but IMO, he was the tougher back and more of a threat to the opposition than Rojas. Also, the conference leader in pass break-ups, interceptions, forced fumbles and fumbles recovered (Daniel Tromello from Oxy) gets no love at all????

From Dirty Harry:

"Also, the conference leader in pass break-ups, interceptions, forced fumbles and fumbles recovered (Daniel Tromello from Oxy) gets no love at all?"

Tromello got screwed. You have to remember that a lot of All-Conference awards seem to favor upper classmen. Good to see Anthony Ostland from Oxy crack the 1st team. If he can play more consistent, he is my EARLY pick from Player of the Year  in 2007.

Leopard TE 8

Just my opinion on the All-SCIAC team, I think it was pretty accurate.   A couple of positions could've went other ways, not to discredit those named to the all conference team in any way.

I think that Aaron Gonzales (CMS) would've been a better choice at 2nd team than Scurlock.  I think Scurlock threw like 17 picks as did my good friend Troy Doolittle, and Doolittle had more TD passes.  I think coaches like Scurlock's athletic ability which is pretty comparable to Gonzales who threw like 4 picks.

As for tight ends (where its hits home), first team should've went to Pomona's TE Reiff.  Tight ends are receivers also, and two catches for 34 yards and splitting time with another TE shouldn't warrant a first team recognition.  Just my opinion though.

Receivers could go a lotta ways. The oxy frosh receiver had like 7 TD's and a good amount of receptions, but was left out.   Matt Griffin of my beloved Leo's got left out as well.  However, the messed up thing is that all the receivers who got all conference accolades did deserve it.  There just wasn't enough spot to handle a conference loaded with wideouts.

As for DL, suprised Redlands only had two, they definitely had the best front in the conference.

Just my opinion though and honestly it really doesn't matter cause it can't change anything.  Congrats to the all-sciac players.

I'm annoyed that LadyTiger didn't get "SCIAC poster rookie of the year" and that I didn't get the "Jim Tunney Civility Deity of the Year" award.

OB's, DGI's, Scandi's, Eye's, BE's, CRZK's, Oswald's and RFB's exclusion from the all conference posters lists saddens me as well.  And who woulda thought that DOC, Gray Fox and Coco would get skunked from all region honors as well?

Oh well, only 284 days to go . . . and I'll take the under on DGI.

Congratulations to all of the players who earned honors.

Imagine what the West All-Region team committee will do for  their  selections............

Anyways, congrats to all the youngmen across the SCIAC in getting such high recognition. Although many were left out, watch these players burn up in production and do even better next year. All that matters is what they did and left out on the field.

I am also sad that our very own Tooth did not get poster of the year for his strong mediation in solving piss matches

I was also surprised Schafer wasn't on the first team.  He had over 400 yards more rushing than anyone else in the league.  I know he had some fumble problems early in the season but the yards and touchdowns are hard to deny.

Also, the other 2nd team RB selection surprised me a little.  I couldn't find Camacho's name among the league leaders in any statistical category, and it seems to me that Yamazaki from P-P was the next running back in line just from looking at the stats.

But congrats to all that made it, and I think it would be extremely interesting to be a fly on the wall during these selection meetings.

CRZK

Gosh;  I am honored to just be mentioned in the same sentence as folks like OB, BE, DOC, etc.  Truly humbled!!  ;)

By the way Tooth was hosed--Civility Diety should have been his in a walk!  OB and DGI would have been my picks for co-honors in Offensive posters (as in leading the offense, not personally offensive) of the year  :D :D.

Thought the conference picks looked pretty good.  Two names that I would add would be Tromello (as already mentioned)  also what about the Jenkins kid.  Pretty solid stats.  But like someone said about the WR's surplus.  A lot of deserving kids so hard to choose.

Any one this year from the conference be able to pull a Hula bowl invite like last year?  Collins maybe?

Great job to the Tigers and all the other players that made the All-Conference teams.

As far as any snuffs go I'd have to agree with the two afore mentioned players from Oxy, Tromello and Inabit, who both had a great impact on almost every game.  Upper classmen receiving these awards is common (Inabit will have plenty of recognition in the future), however, Tromello is a Jr. transfer.  Being new to the conference I could have understood/expected at least a second team mention.

Tigers ROAR for four in '07!!!
Go TIGERS!!!

Tough days for Tiger Football.

Congrats to all who made the All-Conference teams!

According to the Oxy website: http://www.oxy.edu/x9877.xml

"Collins is also a candidate for the Gagliardi Trophy, given annually to the most outstanding player in Division III."

Is this true?  I don't see Collins on the list of Gagliardi finalists on the front page of the D3football site.

I don't know about the Hula bowl, but I do know that Andy is playing in the Aztec Bowl in mid December.
