Do you La Verne guys think that the program will hire within its current coaching staff? What have you heard of late....

That would be awesome for Oxy to play Whitewater.  Oh wait, Collins graduated, unless Rhet Bomar has transferred in the Tigers will be hard pressed to be the golden team again, for a while.  Other than that, Redlands will be back.

They've been gone almost as long as they were "here"

Hey, I loved Redlands ... One of my favorite campuses, and Maynard and the gang treated me well when I was there, but I couldn't hold that one back.

Sadly,
I went back and read about 20 pages of the SCIAC board during the end of the season postseason, to make sure my claim that Oxy didn't whine about their playoff matchup nearly as bad as Texas did was true ... and I know all about the fun you guys are having with Redlands.

You ol' meanies.

Redlands will be back, they have a history of rebounding. La Verne went on a three year run(1993-1995) and have not been heard from since. Redlands ended their streak in 1996 and started a new run for the program (6/11 Conference Champs). Props to Oxy for winning the last three but I would hardly call Redlands gone.

Were here Pat, there just hasn't been a whole lot to talk about recently...

I think Don is a great guy, but I agree with his decision to move on. I can see him as more of an athletic director in the future. He's great at getting stuff done off of the field. I have some great memories because of Don, and I thank him for that. There have been tough times recently and I think Morel made a lot from a little in some situaions.  As for the next coach, I heard it is pretty wide open to a lot of outside candidates. Assistant coaches Mike Preston and Justin Brown should get decent consideration.

Good luck to LaVerne with their coaching search. I played against them when they were a beast of a program. Getting back to that stage helps the SCIAC on a national scene.

Eleven posts in a season doesn't entirely qualify as being "here" :)

Seriously, though -- post win or lose. It would help the board.

Wow, tough news coming from Thousand Oaks. Cal Lu is losing a really good coach, and the timing is pretty bad for recruiting.

Browneagle64

Wow, What's going on with the Loss of H.C.'s at Cal Lu and La Verne?
I understand that The La Verne Athletic Dept. probabily felt they were heading in the wrong direction, but, they were 4 playermakers away from being a surprise team in 07'.

As for Cal Lu, can you guys please update us on what is going on here? The Kingsmen would have been the team this upcoming year who could of challenge Oxy for the SCIAC crown, But there is no head to the monster at Mt.Clef. What's the game plan for them now?

Did Tarn Sublet get a job somewhere else for this upcoming season?  Does anybody think he would even be interested in taking the job for ULV if he was offered? That guy is a cornucopia of offensive knowledge. Wow CalLu lost their guy too... are they going to go in house or are they searching everywhere?

Tarn Sublett is out.  His son is a senior starter on Bellevue HS (WA) football and baseball teams and probably wants to be there for that, but you're right that guy knows too much about football.  Great coach and person, if anyone could turn ULV around, it'd be him.

Just from what I heard, Mike Preston is most likely to take the reins.  If Coach Morel had stayed, he probably would've been the OC.  I'd like to see Justin Brown, former All-SCIAC safety, get the job but I don't get to pick, so we shall see.

Looks like Cal Lu is in the same boat, good luck with that Kingsmen...

Browneagle64

Congrats to Coach Squires for his decision for heading onto a new opportunity.

However, will the Kingsmen be left with the staff that Squires was working with? If so, I think they can still work out in heading to the Top of the SCIAC. They do return some good player from last year(i.e. Danny jones and crew) but i am not to sure they will have a good game plan like Coach squires and his staff always used to have. This should be interesting........
