I don't know and only time will tell.   I have heard nothing but good things about him.  I hope thy run the offense that won many SCIAC titles for them.  I doubt that he will be instituting a completley new system.

Fight ULV

The guys who always work hard are going to continue to work hard.  I know a lot of the Leos are busting their tails in the weightroom and out on the field.  You other Leos know Durant has those guys working. Those who aren't, probably wouldn't be working as hard regardless of the coaching situation.  I could see it effecting recruing, however.  Exactly one week and the HC will be announced.  It's down to four guys.

Oxy Bob, from the looks of it the majority of the people on scout.com are a bunch of clowns that get way too excited about high school football  (not nearly as classy as this site)  ;).

This is a unique board, from what I have seen it has it's moments but the insiders.com baoards are just insane, especially the USC  board.  That one is borderline pornographic.  I know, I just came from there! ;)

We do a good job of self policing.  We owe a great deal to Pat for keeping the real bad guys away.

my name is bobby mooshagian, i am a wide receiver from sacramento state and gotten my release. i have been in cotact with cal lu and redlands for some time now. i was really pumped on cal lu, i liked squires quite a bit and had a good relationship with him then i get on d3football and see that he bolted. i have yet to make my mind up but, im still waiting on who gets the hc job at cal lu and see if the staff i have been in contact with staying. redlands has pitched a pretty good recruiting line to me and i am strongly considering them to. i am in no rush but it would be nice to know where im going.

The site is full of high school kids with foul mouths and attitude, dads who are trashing kids that are competing with theirs, clowns and antagonists.  However, there are also somevery knowlegdable guys who know what they are talking about.  The problem is that everything degrades to name callling and testosterone outbursts.  Highly, uncivilized! :D

From the Oxy website:

Collins Chats About Football Future

Los Angeles (March 15, 2007)

It happens all the time...An Occidental student, faculty member, or alumnus asks the big question: Is Andy Collins going to play pro football? Sports Information Director Andy Holmes sat down with the three-time SCIAC Offensive Player of the Year and asked him that question and more:

Q: Lots of people want to know if you will be able to continue playing football at the next level. What can you tell us so far?

A: I guess the best thing would be for me to get drafted. When I look at the lists of quarterbacks who are draftable and where they rank (one has him as high as 25th), I feel like I can compete with those guys. But if I'm not drafted, hopefully I'll have the opportunity to sign a free agent contract with a team.

Q: Can you tell me what teams you have talked with? Who has shown the most interest?

A: I went to Houston for an invitation only mini-camp/combine with the Calgary Stampeders March 3-4.  I was a great experience.  I learned a lot about the Canadian game, which is quite a bit different from the NFL, and hopefully I impressed the coaching staff.

I have a workout with the Miami Dolphins coming up March 27th so that will be a good opportunity for me to showcase my throwing ability in a one-on-one setting  (Note: Workout is not at Oxy).  After that, my pro day is on the 29th at Home Depot Center and I'm pretty sure every NFL team will have at least one scout there to watch.

Q: For the casual football fan who doesn't know much about how the whole thing works, tell us what the difference is between being drafted and being a college free agent.

A: If a team drafts you, it means they like you enough to make an investment in you. Most teams draft players based on what positions they need the most help at. Because they are making this investment in you, it becomes a little harder for them to cut you. But you definitely still have to earn your spot on the team.

The advantage of signing as a free agent is that hopefully you get more than one offer and you can sign with the team that offers the best situation for you. And there are plenty of guys who make the team, and even go on to successful careers, as free agents.

Q: So obviously you have been getting yourself ready for this opportunity.  Take us through a typical day for you.

A: I'm at Athlete's Performance (API) in Carson, Calif. six days a week.  API is a training facility that works with elite athletes and I'm currently involved in their pre-combine training preparation program.  Basically, it consists of two-a-day workouts Monday through Saturday.  We go through field work outside, including all the drills that scouts will have you do on your pro day, and we lift weights in the afternoon.  Other than that, I'm taking a Spanish 2 class.

Q: At Oxy?

A: No, at L.A. Harbor College. I have enough units to graduate but haven't fulfilled my foreign language requirement yet. It will be my last Oxy credit.

Q: I see. That's not exactly ballroom dancing.

A: (Laughs) No, it's not. I took two years of Spanish in high school but that was seven years ago so I'm definitely putting in some work. Since I'm out in Carson all day anyway, I decided to take it at L.A. Harbor. It's just a couple miles from the Home Depot Center, where API is located.

Q: Right. You played in the Texas vs. The Nation game Feb. 3 in El Paso. How did you get picked for that?

A: I had met Mike Price, the coach of the Texas squad, when Washington State was recruiting me so I guess that was my connection. When one of their quarterbacks got hurt the week before the game, I got a call saying thatI was next on the list.

Q: You have absolutely no connection to the State of Texas, right?

A: Well, my girlfriend lived in Texas for a couple of years.

Q: Close enough. What are some things you'd like to pursue career-wise when football's over?

A: I majored in sociology and minored in kinesiology.  I probably have too many interests. I really like the idea of going to Physical Therapy school but I've also thought about law school. Really, I'm open to any ideas. I like working with kids and as long as I can in some way be a role model for them whatever I do will be fulfilling.

Q: Andy, thanks for your time. We're all rooting for you.

A: Thanks.

Bobby,
I'm glad you have resurfaced.

Both of those schools have great football traditions.  They both will be fighting Oxy for the championship this year.  So, the odds are on your side.  We are all anxious to hear about the CLU job as well as the one at ULV.

Good luck.  We are looking forward to seeing you on one of the rosters and the all-SCIAC team.

Word on the street is that Speckman from Willamette is on CLU's campus today.

CarloRossiLep

Speckman's a fly sweep guy.  He coached in California for a long time before he went north.  Oh when I say fly sweep I mean a lot of fly sweep!
Hail to the Orange!!!
