He has had a lot of success and is well respected.  He would be a positive addition to the league

In the coaching profession isn't Speckman regarded as a fly sweep guru?

CarloRossiLep

Yeah, he speaks at clinics about it all the time.  Great story teller from what I hear.
Hail to the Orange!!!

all i know as a transfer student athlete, if speckman is selected as head coach, then that means im out, i dont think it would be a good fit for aWR to transfer to a fly sweep team. Any update on ULV? Coach thomas, at redlands said that he is taking over the offensive coordinator position.
is fenwick still a possibility at ULV?
Im glad i kept my options open and didnt decide on cal lu right away for this reason exactly.

Bobby,

Rumor has it that UR is going back to the gun/spread with 4 & 5 wide like they ran years ago.  I think if I were a wr this would interest me.

DogPower

yeah i agree, i have been in close contact with redlands. i am not deciding yet though. i know cal lu has a pretty good qb, i dont know anything about the redlands qb. whittier also has been calling me quite a bit as well as oxy but i dont think i will fit the requirements to go to oxy

i just heard news that ULV named their Oline coach as interm head coach for this season then the job will reopen next season. i guess they wanted to give the oline coach the job but because they didnt interview any minorities i guess the job will reopen next season...kind of a rinky dink deal there but i guess we'll see how it works out

DogPower,
You may have scooped us on this one.  I've been checking several times a day, and there is nothing posted yet on the ULV website.

Wow! That's news to me.  I hope it's not true.  It says something bad about the athletic department I was defending if it is.
Hail to the Orange!!!

I really doubt that they would make a decision like that.  From what I hear they are still in the interview process.

DogPower

i believe its true. i spoke with a former player and coach at ULV today, he was at sac state last season with me. he informed me of the news. i hope it falls thru because it will hurt the program if they have to search again next season

Westcoast

Nope. I heard from a guy that knows a guy on campus that it's not true  ;) Everyone plays Chapman.  The conference might as well let them in.

Actually it is to Chapman's advantage to be an independent in football for the sake of the playoffs, IMHO.  With the situation in Pool B, Chapman has done well by cleaning up on the SCIAC and other in-region teams in the sports in which they are strong.

If Chapman goes 6-1 versus the SCIAC, and wins 2 other West Region games, I believe that they go to the playoffs as a Pool B. :)

OB

You beat me to the stats.  Next year the SCIAC will be stronger than last, you won't have one dominant team but probably three and two others that will be decent.  I believe that Chapman wont beat, Oxy, CLU, UR, CMS and possibily ULV or Whittier.

Last years game against UR was an abomination, with a new OC, a less predictable offense and the returning dominant defense, Chapman will not beat UR this year.   Phone it in! ;D

>>Chapman has done well by cleaning up on the SCIAC<<

According to D3football.com, since 1999 Chapman is 26-48 overall, and 16-25 against SCIAC teams (and 7 of those wins have come against Whittier). I wouldn't exactly call that cleaning up.

OxyBob

I am sorry that I did not elaborate.

Chapman has done well in baseball and women's basketball as Pool B's. :)
