Just wondering if anyone has any idea what salaries are like at this level...

I am a current player thinking about coaching as a career post-college, but making a decent living is also important.

I guess that would depend on your definition of "a decent living."  You'll never get rich at the DIII level (unlike certain DI positions that pay more than the University president).

The salary will range depending on the location of the school.  Many schools at the DIII level may provide some type of housing or housing allowance as well, especially schools in urban areas where housing costs would prevent staff from living near the school.

You can get some idea of various college salaries from "The Chronicle of Higher Education."  There may be other sources specifically directed toward coaching.  And I'm assuming you're referring to coaching football given the post is on this board.

Be prepared to start for negligible compensaiton requiring a second job for income at the outset.  One way to go is to look at a graduate assistant program at a bigger school while you work on a masters degree.

I would love to see Whitewater come to Redlands!  Pac Lu would be cool too.  It appears that if they initiate a new series, that the first game will be at Redlands because the budget appears to be spent on the trip to Spokane.

24 weeks, hopefully it will fly by!  Is it too early to start with the predictions?
Well, it won't be PLU.

Oxy AD job-  We are all correct until they make a hire.

How about a conference challenge?  A couple of SCIAC teams Vs a couple of NWC or Wisconsin teams in a doubleheader at the Home Depot Center. Nice venue, good chance for a big crowd.

Great idea but the expense of it would be prohibitive.  I wonder why UR has not been able to secure a game for week two yet.  I would think that most teams have already set their schedules.  I think it will hard to find a quality opponent this late in the game.  I would think that a midwest team would enjoy coming out to sunny So. Cal.  We should know soon I would think.

It's definitely too late for this upcoming season, but it's an idea for future seasons.

Not really, you offered a very specific prediction which runs counter to all of the information available on the campus at this point.  No evidence that Coach W is even interested.

Why is it taking so long to pick a new Head Football Coach at Cal.Lu.U.?The so called final "5"must be wondering the same thing.Current CLU offensive coordinator Clay Richardson wants the job so why not just give it to him.

Oxy-  Geez................. I'm not on campus so I have no idea what the word is from office to office.  My "very specific' prediction came from a conversation that I had with one of their staff members a year ago.  It's a message board.  I just put it out there.  If it happens it happens.

I would think that both CLU  and ULV  would want to hire their new head coaches as soon as possibile.  Especially if they care about their football programs.  The uncertainty, and the eventual transition could really set a program back in terms of geting ready for next season.  I think this is especially true at the d3 level with less time for spring practice and practice time restrictions.

Westcoast

I totally agree!  The lack of a recuiting class will definitely set them both back a few years.  They will still get their fair share in this class, but I would think that they are getting beat on most of the better kids.

The recruiting issue is something that can be corrected quickly by trnasfers, JC incomers, and  D1 kickbacks.  However, this years team will suffer from lack of physical preperation, positional orientation and lack of leadership.  Just my opinion.

For the sake of the kids on the teams, I hope the schools will move quickly.

LaVerne can attract more Jucos than Cal Lu because of their entrance requirements.  I think that it would be hard to count on D1 transfers.  It happens (Oxy QB), but those guys usually end up in scholarship situations (1AA or D2).   It's hard to go from a full ride to financial aid and loans to pay for 30k plus.

snoop dawg

Good point about the D1 kickbacks, it probably doesnt happen often.  The SCIAC needs to get stronger and more competitive, the coaching situations isnt helping.
