[No Bob . . . read more carefully . . . I said that an influx of $$ might impact "geographic" considerations . . .

with a deeper pocket of resources, Oxy's selection of schools for non-conference games might expand "geographically" . . . (Minnesota, Iowa or even NESCAC) . . .

As for the level of play of the opponents, again, Coach W makes his choices, we've discussed the merits on the board ad nauseum . . . everyone knows that I like tune-ups before hitting the league, others think that tougher opponents out of the gate are better . . . I think that Dale's record speaks for itself.

My point was that Oxy's scheduling philosophy won't be changed by the new AD and will probably remain constant until Coach W retires or changes his view of things.

NESCAC? ???  All of the SCIAC (especially Pomona) would like to do that.

My guess is that Widolff likes to schedule continuous rivalries, usually with similar academic schools in the West  region.  He was put in a bind with CC going to the SCAC on short notice.  The Menlo thing may only last two years, or it may be the first of a long running series.  The next two years will give him a chance to search out a long term opponent with a similar academic profile.

Bobby,
Does your new name mean you will be going to CLU?  Or, will you be taking RFB's advice? ??? :-X

Thanks for the heads up.

Ben McEnroe has been the head coach at Chaminade High School.

not quite sure where im gonna go yet, the only plus with cal lu is that i have a way better chance of gettin into school there but still have not made up my mind, if i get into cal lu and redlands it will be tough. redlands coaching staff were great people. coach thomas and maynard are top notch character guys. as for cal lu, coach richardson is a great coach and man as well.  the problem with redlands is they dont take as many units of mine as cal lu will. i should have my mind made up somewhat soon. im pumped that cal lu has finally hired a coach. i will need to go meet him as soon as i can. he coached with a long time friend doug atkins at humbolt for a few years and is also a cal lu alum.

DogPower,

Thanks for all this information.  I think we are all happy to see a good decision has been made on the coaching front.

Now on to La Verne. :)

CLU may have just made a great hire, but it's hard to believe that they waited all of this time to give us Ben McEnroe from Chaminade High School.

OxyBob, Bravo!!! :D

Cornerback11: Posting in all caps is actually a violation of the Terms of Service for this website... which everyone is technically required to read, but everyone should read if only to get a flavor for the comedic talents of our moderator and host.

#3. POSTS IN ALL CAPS WILL BE REMOVED. Every keyboard has a shift key. Learn how to use it. Certainly your professors don't accept papers in all caps.

Personally, I just like the assumption Pat made that anyone who might FEEL THE NEED TO EXPRESS THEMSELVES THIS STRONGLY would have to be a college-aged person. :D

Seriously though, it's much easier on us old folk if you type correctly formatted sentences. We'd definitely appreciate it! :) Don't make me delete your post. :P ;)

Wait, dunks are only worth two points?!?!!!? Why does anyone do them? - diehardfan

Even he was not always on the wagon of uncapitalized words.

"Even in his earliest work the seeds of Cummings' unconventional style seem well established. At age six Cummings wrote to his father:

FATHER DEAR. BE, YOUR FATHER-GOOD AND GOOD,
HE IS GOOD NOW, IT IS NOT GOOD TO SEE IT RAIN,
FATHER DEAR IS, IT, DEAR, NO FATHER DEAR,
LOVE, YOU DEAR,
ESTLIN."

I thought that CLU  would hire a proven college coach rather than a hs coach.  However, Ben McEnroe is a very good coach and did an outstanding job at Chaminade.  He is a very personable coach and the players will like him.  He is a pass first type coach and that should fit CLU'S current roster well.

Ben, good luck.  I"ll talk to you after the UR-CLU game.

DogPower

the name is Bobby, not ben...you will know my name though pretty good after this next season

DogPower

i was just playing around, thanks a lot though i appreciate it...the search for my next school should be done soon. thanks again

Bobby,

My post was directed toward the new CLU  coach, Ben McEnroe.  We already know who you are.  No problem.

CB11-

Welcome to the discussion!  It's always nice to have more Cal Lu folks around.  You're now officially part of things as OxyBob has fired his opening shot. (well played, Bob :D).  I will respectfully second DieHard's request regarding capitalization...

GF-

You're killing me  ;D
