OB  thats a very sore suject and I wont go there.  I did get to know Ben somewhat when he coached the Valley HS All Star game, he wanted my son to play but he had already committed to the Shrine game.  He is a very nice guy and was a pretty good high school coach.  I dont see why he couldnt do a great job at CLU if he in fact did get the job.  I hope he did and if so, wish him the best of luck expcept for one game of course. ;)

I heard Mack from St. Bonnie applied at CLU and of course Harry W.  Harry is a Crespi Alum who I believe holds the distiction of throwing the first td in Crespi football history.  His coaching tactics however are sometimes, well lets just call them, questionable.

Oh, he in deed got the job, i spoke with QB Danny Jones today on the phone and he also verified that, said he was a great guy and a great coach from what he has heard.

Seriously though, it's much easier on us old folk if you type correctly formatted sentences. We'd definitely appreciate it!

Well, I'm usually glad... hence the NESCAC's taunting of my smilies... but if being young is in my mind I won't be young again until at least May or June... or July... all my projects at work combined with a busy personal life are making me go grey at 25. :D

Great to hear that Cal Lu has a new H.C. and someone willing to quickly implement a winning mentality at the Land of the who.

So for the Leo's, i am still worried that spring ball and recruiting will be unproductive due to the A.D and admin. milling like sheep and not worrying to much in providing their football team with a H.C.

I've been reading Post Patterns for sometime now and wanted to wait till after I was done playing and had something substantial to contribute before I began posting.  With out further ado,

My two cents about the new Cal Lu coach:

I think Ben McEnroe is a solid up and comer for Cal Lu.  He orchestrated quite the turn around at Chaminade several years ago.  The 2003 Eagles had underachieved all year and finished 2-8 (I was one of those underachievers).  The following year was Ben's first year and I forget their record but Chaminade won a playoff game for the first time in quite sometime.  Whether he should be credited with the change or not, the football culture at Chaminade underwent a complete makeover during McEnroe's time there.  I recall coming out to near empty stands after some halftimes but now the student cheering section remains standing all game.

From an informed outside perspective (my little brother speaks very highly of him), it seemed that McEnroe was very good at properly utilizing his players and assistant coaches.  He let his position coaches do their job and focused on the big picture stuff.  His sideline demeanor is very animated and intense.  As far as coaching styles, he would fall under the category of hard ass.  Although he might have lacked the adoration of his players, they understood that following him would ultimately lead to success.

Cal Lu has many offensive weapons returning so I would be surprised if he was not immediately successful.   Does anyone know if he is bringing his DC or O-line coach?  I believe his defensive coordinator for at least the first few years at the Nade was an old Cal Lu assistant.

Sorry guys my bad.

In his interview with the players, after his formal interview, he told them that he had defensive coaches ready to come in right away. I would take that as a yes he would bring his DC with him

I've been trying to give you another karma point, but am restricted.

I like your posts and your (new) style. ;D

I was just spying on you and saw you were reading the Terms of Service as advised by dhf.  I took the time to review them myself.

We will look forward to your input as the season progresses.

Thanks for the comment. I should have read TofS. typical male, I don't need to read the directions. I hand write in all caps and I just spaced it. My 11 year old can't read my writing either.

So I take it you are a former CLU player?  Is that correct?  Did you play offense or defense?

Since you are done playing, are you graduating?  If so, way to go and congradulations.

Not to be negative, but it's hard to believe that Cal Lutheran waited 2 months to go with a local high school coach.  There are some great coaches at the high school level so I'm not going there with this.  He coached at Cal Lu previously, but not as a coordinator.  He wasn't a coordinator at Humboldt State either.  Anyway, I'm just thinking that you pull the trigger sooner so that a guy can recruit and implement his philosophies during the off-season. Championships aren't won during 2-a-days.  They are won in the off-season.  Spring ball starts on Wednesday, so the kids get screwed.  The staff hasn't had time to sit and watch film from last season to know what positions to slot guys into.  I doubt that he'll have a full staff by then.  He doesn't have much time to get his coaches on the same page before they get infront of their players.  They are about to play a mean game of catch up.
No I'm sure that ULV will do the same thing and hire a guy that would have said YES months ago.

Thanks for the informative post.

The SCIAC posters are the Oasis in the Southern California "D3" desert.

Please post as much as you can.

My general impression is that SCIAC officials do not use alternative/new media outlets such as those in the D3sports family as much as other parts of the country.  They seem to post information very reluctantly or use their local sources very hesitantly.  Your contributions will help make D3football.com the outlet for SCIAC football news.

Thanks.

Hence, one of the reasons the SCIAC is lower in quality in sports than the local population would support.
