Snoop,

I'm actually a former Oxy player.  I just finished this past December.  I started my career on offense and finished on defense.

I should have read TofS. typical male, I don't need to read the directions.
Like so many men who have put furniture together wrong before you, I think it would have been helpful in this case, and you even admitted it. :P ;)

Congrats on a fine football career, you guys have had a heck of a run and, congrats on completing your academic career from a great school.  Being a Celt fan I can only see one real strike against you. ;)

As to your brother he cant make a bad choice if he chooses any SCIAC  school.  Obviously, the best choice would be UR! :D  Good Luck to him, this time of year is usually high drama for most high school seniors trying to decide where to go next.

Glad to see that CLU hired a new coach. Just in time for spring ball. I would like to wish Coach McEnroe the best of luck. He has got a good group of Seniors that have been playing together for 3 years.

Question for Bobby M., have you decided on a school yet? Will the hiring of Coach McEnroe help in decision? Good luck on choosing.

i had told coach richardson that cal lu has been my number 1 all a long. if i get admitted to school i will be attending and playing for cal lutheran next fall. i have yet to speak to coach macanroe but plan on going down there to meet him in a few weeks.

Congrats to Former Occidental punter Cory Ohnesorge '06, who has just finished signing a free-agent contract with the New York Giants. He will participate in the Giants' mini-camp in late May in preparation for training camp in June.

Ohnesorge, a native of Oceanside, Calif., was the NCAA all-divisions leader in punting average in 2003 with 44.4 yards per attempt. He earned D3Football.com and Football Gazette Third Team All-American honors in 2003 and booted a 79-yarder Sept. 27 at Whittier. Ohnesorge compiled a 41 yard average in four seasons, placing 49 attempts inside the 20-yard line.

After graduation, Ohnesorge trained at Occidental while coaching football at his alma mater, El Camino High School. He attended the Ray Pelfrey Professional Kicking camp in Reno, Nev. last month.

"I sent a highlight DVD to most of the teams in NFL before graduation," said Ohnesorge. "The Giants were one of a few teams that had me on their radar. I didn't do as well as I could have in my first workout last spring but this time I was better prepared.

Ohnesorge will compete with Jeff Feagles, a 19-year veteran and former Pro Bowler for the starting position. The Giants went 8-8 in 2006, losing to Philadelphia in the first round of the playoffs.

Ohnesorge is the 8th Tiger invited to an NFL training camp and the 12th overall to play professional football. He is the first Oxy punter in the NFL since Dan Osborn '83, who competed in the Kansas City Chiefs training camp in 1983.

Ohnesorge is the second NFL punting prospect from the Oceanside area in last two seasons. Ryan Plackemeier, starting punter for the Seattle Seahawks in 2006, attended nearby Fallbrook High School.

GF and Snoop,

The little bro's playing days are over, he's finishing up his second year of college at a big school.  He played during McEnroe's first two years at Chaminade.

Way to go Cory on a tremendous accomplishment.....and by the way the cool shades are a nice touch in the d3 front page photo.  I guess it's true, kickers are a different breed.  :D

So what SCIAC or NWC program will win a National Championship in the next few years?  If Oxy gets another big time QB you would think that they could keep things rolling.   Linfield is always a threat.

DawgHeaven

Bobby, I think you should rethink your decision to attend Cal Lu.  With a high school coach coming in it may be hard for them to be competitive.  Ala, Notre Dame in the mid seventies with the high school coach.  As far as Oxy, they will return to the cellar just as they were before Collins.

From what I have observed it will be very difficult for any SCIAC  team to compete with the d3 publics in the midwest.  It seems they have a distinct advantage.

I would say "publics" is the key word. Those schools cost less and of course have a higher population of students to choose from.  While most schools in the SCIAC are between 50 and 100 players those schools consistently carry 100 players and field JV teams.  Hard to compete with that :-[.

Oh give me a break.  The private school NWC has won two titles since joining DIII in 1998 (PLU and Linfield).  SJU (private) won in 2003 and we all know Mount is private and they run DIII.

Before Whitewater's great run in 2005-06 the WIAC had been considered a playoff choker over the past decade and still has not won a title since 1995.

Saying it's too hard to compete because a conference is public is just an excuse.
