Its not just looking for a late game, its looking for a late game in week two, at home.  That complicates things quite a bit.  If you wait too long I imagine you run the risk of not getting a game at all.  If that happened, UR would have back to back byes.  That would really be awful.
That is actually week two and three.   Week two can be a bye.

Bye Bye. :P

What schools? I'm not sure how up to date the open game date listing is on this website. Pat, could you help on this one?

It's up to the schools to let us know if they need to be removed. Otherwise we'll go through in the summer and see if any schools who have submitted 10-game schedules still have open dates listed.

PC    For scheduling purposes, do most schools require a two year commitment, a home and away deal, or does it just vary?

Pat Coleman

Two or four. If it's an odd amount then there's usually compensation involved. And, of course, if one of the teams involved has a change to its conference schedule (Trinity has to add Colorado College AND Birmingham-Southern for 2007 and beyond) then most ADs will oblige. If a school is owed a home game, then they may be able to get the opponent to make the trip in a future season to balance it out.

Hopefully, this is a one and out type situation.  Wait, do they have a casino on the reservation? :D

It was a joke....isn't it also in a ....dry state?   Doesn't make for much of a road trip. :)

For future reference, when "the silly smiley faces" are used, it is at least an attempt at humor.

A question mark is used at the end of a sentence that...asks a question.  When used as such, the sentence is not an affirmation of fact but questions a fact.  Therefore, I could not be considered wrong in questioning whether or not Haskell is in a dry county.

However thank you for the information.  You are a constant source of information on any subject. ::)

Heard that CLU has hired a new Defensive Coordinator. Do not know his name. He has been coaching at a 6A high school in Texas. He does have college coaching experience. I'm unsure at how much though.

Quoteplus, I have actual work that I have to get done before my drive to Spokane, WA for a wedding this weekend . . . maybe I'll run into 509 in the bar at the Davenport.

Sorry, I missed you tooth.  Normally the Davenport is a little too classy for a guy like me...however, with the chance to rub elbows with one of Oxy's finest I'm sure I could have made an exception ;D

Hope the wedding went well tooth.

Does Oxy run any spring practices?  And if so how is the team looking, post-Collins?

Any word on how spring ball at Cal Lu, Whitter, Oxy, CMS and pomona is going?
Any surprises or position changes occuring during this time around?

My first extended visit to Spokane and it was great.  A couple of great lunches and beer at Clinkerdaggers while we watched the river run (I really enjoyed the fish & chips, the prime rib french dip, the local pale ale . . . not a big fan of the huckleberry lemonade though).  Reception was at the Spokane Athletic Club.  Ate at the italian restaurant at Lusso's hotel and enjoyed a fine family barbeque out in Chewelah.  The Peacock Room at the Davenport was an excellent spot for imbibing as well . . . and some excellent imbibing was done. All in all, a great . . . what might say "Amazing" . . . wedding and weekend.  [bonus points if you get the reference].

Good times had by all, ran into some folks wearing Pirate regalia who were in town for their daughter's  softball game, but they weren't football fans so no Oxy/Whitworth discussion.

As for spring ball, I'm in the dark, sorry I can't offer any useful or entertaining comments.  The only thing I can say is that the kids seem pretty confident in Goltz's ability to step up to the plate and that he's working out hard.  Not sure whether or how Saunders fits into the mix at this point.  Similarly don't know who's on the charts in the recruiting world.  Just a deep pit of no knowledge.

I hope Oxy gets Whitworth on its schedule again, would love to have a reason to come back up.

The largest schools in Texas are 5A.

Do you know which high school?  The coaching in Texas is all top notch.

That would be a huge pay cut for the average Texas 5A coach.

Oops, my bad. I meant to hit a 5. Guess it helps to proof read your statement before posting.

the new Dc at Cal Lu is Scott Beattie (Former CLU Player) he is a good get for the kingsmen!
Scott coached at Sac state for a few years but left because they didn't have a f/t position available so he went to the HS ranks in Texas, he did a great job there.
He also coached at San Diego state, among other places so he has good recruiting ties in the state.
He is a class guy and a very solid coach!
Congrats to coach Beattie and the CLU Program!
