I have a three week old daughter, sleep deprived would be an understatement right now.

CONGRATULATIONS!  I remember during the playoffs when you said your pregnant wife was sick but having not heard anything, was reticent to ask about the baby . . . that's great . . . I remember (barely) the sleep deprivation of the newborn . . . it's quickly forgotten . . . very happy for you.

EDIT:  I posted the "Kelly's Heroes" quotes before I saw your post about the baby . . . as for the karma issue, I'll chalk that up to sleep deprivation and ignore it in light of the good news . . .  otherwise I'd have to say something really clever like "oh no, not that!"

And congrats to Andy Collins. Hope to see him and Michael Allan playing so I could brag and tell everyone that "I played against those guys" when I'm watching TV with some townies at the local bar

Heard that the Leos will be announcing Citrus DC Ponciano as the new HC tomorrow. Don't know that it's fact though.

If it's true, he was fired a few years back from Azusa for alleged recruiting violations. Doesn't look like that baggage has followed him though. Great all star linebacker back in high school. I played against him in '76 & '77 up in northern California. Hit like a Mack truck.

Ponciano was fired in 1999 by Cal State Northridge, not APU, for numerous NCAA violations. Thanks in part to Ponciano's nonsense, CSUN gave up football altogether in 2001. Ponciano was hired by Northridge after Jim Fenwick left to become the OC at New Mexico. As we all know, Fenwick is now the OC of the three-time defending SCIAC champion Occidental College Tigers.

Please let me add my congratulations on the birth of your daughter!  I think you'll find SCIAC football games are great family outings.  As for the sleep deprivation, well, this too shall pass (my oldest had pretty bad colic, that was fun stuff  )

As for instilling hatred, be careful...  A good friend of mine is a third generation Redlands grad, and he and I have enjoyed the rivalry over the years.  His daughter followed the family path and went to Redlands, but next May his son will graduate from Cal Lu   


And as for ULV and Ron Ponciano, wow, that's an interesting hire. I thought he was probably done as far as head coaching opportunities go.

Thanks for the good wishes. I was just kidding about instilling hate, she will go to school where ever she pleases. Definitely and intersting hire for ULV, surprising the administration took a chance on him considering his past.

I confess that I've never wandered anywhere in LaVerne . . . notwithstanding the fact that I'm an LA native, the last time I was in the community of LaVerne Carter was in the White House and there was no wandering . . . it was off of the team bus, play the game, then back on the bus.  We won BTW.
