"FTP" welcome to the board!

I believe that he is abbreviating your screen name to the first initials.

Or he thinks that you are a a file transfer protocol!   ;)

We will appreciate any news you can give us about Whittier!

FTP - has a nice ring to it.

TGP has met a few whittier alums since moving out to la.  good folks.  choosing a college is a long and difficult process.  many folks thought TGP was nuts when TGP choose hobart when also offered admission to middlebury and hamilton (perceived as "better schools" based on USNWR, etc rankings, etc).

in the end, TGP would put his experience and education up against either any day of the week.  like you very aptly said, ultimately it just comes down to what feels like the place you want to call home for the next 4 years (maybe 5-6 if you're on the "party circuit").

best of luck to you and your son!

(and welcome aboard - stop by the LLPP if you ever need a laugh).

Mr. Turner, as usual, nailed it on the head:

FTP = Fear the Poet

or

FTP = F*** the Poets?

Naw . . . too early for that.  ;) ;D

FTP, you should go back a few pages (beginning around post # 6021) to see our brief exchanges over the newly revised Whittier mascot . . .

Had the opportunity to play with one of Coach Hammer's former Whittier assistants.  Think they were high school classmates as well.  While am not personally acquainted with Coach Hammer, did see him play against my alma mater out here in the midwest a couple times, and he is the definition of a football man.  Good choice in my opinion.  You can tell a lot about people by the company they keep, I liked the teammate and he speaks the world of Coach Hammer.

Believe Coach Hammer took over the head coaching duties at Whittier following the footsteps of his alma mater's former head coach.  While there's no love lost between our schools as in-conference rivals, should investigate some of the Monon Bell lore your son's head coach has been party to, might make for some interesting digs at the coach should your son by the end of his tenure do something Coach Hammer didn't, like say go undefeated against a rival.

Won't say which side of the Bell Coach Hammer was party to, but will say this: go Tigers!!!

I dunno...wasn't FTP one of the lyrics from NWA that got D. Gates so riled he let Rome burn in '92?  8)

The Poets land big time db Jonathan Brasfield from Venice, CA high school. This guy was ranked in the top 20 db's in ca. He was recruited by Ivies and others. Not sure why he didn't get a schollie. Another big recruit nailed by Hammer. A new age of Whitter football is coming. :)
My man will play with a chip on his shoulder to prove what the "big" schools passed on.
GO POETS!!!

This post belongs in the SCIAC conference forum. Just an FYI. Teams don't generally post lists of incoming players although Redlands did last year. Most teams have a handle on who is coming but that is not established until kids actually show for training camp.

McCloud - Coach Hammer is quite proud of being a Little Giant.  I seem to recall that the Monon Bell rings loudly in Crawfordsville these days.

Since Oxy doesn't have a home game until October, I guess catching my first SCIAC game will tentatively be Sept 8 for the "Lute" Bowl in T.O.

Do fans actually show up to tailgate prior to the game (or is that a no-no)?

Hopefully the fans that follow LA D3 football actually show up before the 2nd quarter (unlike LA Laker games).
