I've been hearing the Poets are an up and coming program for over ten years. They had a pretty legit team in 1998 when they won the conference. They have not been heard from since. Prove it is all I'm saying. I'm all for your enthusiasm but don't pound your chest just yet.

I may have missed it but I didnt see any talk about d3's  top 25 posting.  I can understand the Oxy rating but two votes for CLU? 

Hey, last year they got 3 points in the preseason poll. Somewhat suprising though since it's unknown who'll play QB this year. Defense should be tough, but with a new type of offense, who knows.

fanstand on the ASC Women's Hoops board is a mom of a former player and current assistant coach.

Well, here's the tale:

Strange as it may seem, OB and I were dorm roommates my sophomore year, his junior.  We were randomly assigned.  I hadn't seen or spoken to OB since those days until we ran across each other on these boards . . . and ultimately figured it out . . . really frickin' weird.

At any rate, near the end of spring semester, I busted my collarbone and first rib playing rugby.  Pain?  You frickin' bet.  I had to sleep sitting up and anytime I moved I pretty much screamed in pain.  Tons of heavy pain meds and alcohol did nothing to alleviate the pain.

At any rate, I recall costing OB a whole lot of sleep, for which i now apologize.  You can imagine how understanding and compassionate he was . . . 

Always acerbic . . . but the wit and humor have improved . . . of course, I'm not nearly as obnoxious as I was back in the day . . . 8)

I'm still absolutely flabbergasted that after three decades our paths crossed on these boards.

Just when I thought that I was out, they pull me back in.

The dorm in which we lived had a terrace, and I recall sitting outside on balmy afternoons drinking pitchers of greyhounds. I also remember us having a party in our room with a keg and the next day I found out what happens to your digestive system if you drink way too much beer combined with very large amounts of crunchy Cheetos, which I haven't been able to eat ever since.

I don't remember losing any sleep, though I do recall that you were obnoxious.

I'm going to have to come down to an Oxy game just to meet you guys.  Actually, it was all lined up last year in the playoffs untill Whit(not)worth scored that late TD and the destination switched to Spokane.  Maybe this year. 8)

Of cours that was part of the ride (10-0 season / 12 -1 overall last year!) Which is always a plus...   Besides Whittier is an up an coming team with lots of potential.  With Coach Hammer I see alot of good things to come in the next few years for this team.
But ... I was also referring to the people / camaraderie / and memories to be made! 
It was like another part of the family...  We're just looking forward to another great year in every way possible!

We will all be interested in the next four years to see how your son's football/college  experience compares to his high school guard counterpart who is going to play at Nebraska (make that five years).

From time to time we have big discussions as to why the SCIAC schools lack the new recruits considering the amount that are available in California.  How can they do better?  Your latest input would be of interest.

I don't belive I was pounding my chest Only saying that We've seen an improvement since Hammer took over and that the team is up and coming.  Like anything, they boys will have to prove themselves...I just believe this year is going to be their year.    I may be wrong but we wont' know now until after the season starts now will we...

Thank you sir!!  I'm very glad to be here.  I love when football season starts (although does it really ever end!!) I can hardly wait until the season starts...Just a few more weeks.  I look forward to meeting everyone.  I can tell this is going to be a good year!  Thanks for making us feel welcome..
