My son is an incoming freshman at Redlands. We are really looking forward to watching some Bulldog football.Nineteen days until camp, forty days until #16 Whitworth,GETTING EXCITED about the upcoming season in the SCIAC.    GO BULLGOGS!!

Welcome to the board...this is the place to be we're told!! (everyone has been pretty nice to us ...so far!!  ;D) My son is an incoming freshman at Whittier.  He was almost a bull dog.  It was a very hard decision for him but when it came right down to it he felt more comfortable at Whittier.  I will say that Redlands is a class act though.  Their coaches were very good to him and even when he chose Whittier they were a class act!.  Like you we cant wait for the season to start either..  We'll see you on Nov. 3rd!!

Your son picked a great school and football program. It will be eleven years next month since my last camp. Coach Maynard is a class act and great coach to play for. I hope your son worked his butt off this summer, or the first round of equalizers will eat him up. Welcome to post patterns!

ncdawg11...welcome aboard and welcome to UR.  RFB is right about Coach Maynard, great guy, great coach and he is also right about the equalizers.  What position does your son play?

my wife (DAW) and I were quite impressed with Coach Maynard. Truly a class act. If someone put the truth serum in our system, you might be able to get out of us that we as parents were favoring Redlands for our son.

When my son made his phone calls to let the other coaches know that he was going to Whittier, some were not very classy. Maynard on the other hand was truly class. He told my son that he was dissapointed, but understood that Brandon had to go where he felt it. He also apologized for not making Brandon feel as comfortable as he should. (although we are not saying they did anything wrong..son just made a choice) The thing he said that was really nice was that no matter what happens next year, he would always be Brandon's biggest fan and he wished his the best and said he looked forward to seeing him on the field next season.

FTP......Coach Maynard was the main reason my son chose UR.  He also wanted to play baseball.  He was wavering between two D1 schools when he met Coach.  Coach Maynard did not tell him to not try to play D1, in fact he encouraged him to do so if that was really his dream.  He set forth the advantages of his prgram and told my son to weigh the pros and cons and to make a decision that was right for him.  After meeting Coach Maynard I was very happy with my sons choice.  He is a man of integrity and commitment.

This is the truth!!  Although I'm happy to be a Poet Supporter, I would have been just as happy if my son had chosen Redlands...the only down fall was that if Brandon went to Redlands we were getting a Bull Dog!! (nothing against animals but we have a hard enough time taking care of the darn hamster!!)  Not sure what FTB has in store since it's now a Poet!! :o

because we would miss Brandon so much..if he chose Redlands, we were in fact going to buy a real Bulldog and name him Brandon.  Now I guess we'll just visit Nixon Library everyday..since we live down the street from it. :)

ncdawg11....Are you going to the Whitworth game?  I think it will be a very competitive game.  Last years game would have been if the UR offense would have avoided turnovers.  Hopefully, this year will be different.

You will be especially impressed with the DC at Redlands.  He is knowledgable and innovative.  The players have bought into his system and it will really show this year.

FTP,my son had a very simular experience when he told other coaches as well, but I will say Coach Widolff(Oxy)and his staff were great all the way though the recruiting process and after he sent a very nice letter to my son.Coach Biggs(UCDavis)also was a very positive experience as well.SD,we hope to make the travel team and make the trip to Spokane. GO BULLGOGS!!

Sabretooth Tiger

While trolling around looking for anything of football interest and assiduously avoiding work, I found this passage from a NY Giant fan on the team's blog website:

Sarcastica:

From my vantage point in the bleachers, the one I was most impressed with is punter Cory Ohnesorge. The LOS was the 25 and he was punting inside the 20 on most of them.

Go Cory!  Eat'em up Tigers!

39 days to kickoff!

Bob-

I am sure that trip to SoCal was a real low point in the college careers of those Muhlenberg players  ;)

In case anyone's interested, there was a nice article in the Edmonton Journal about former CLU coach Scott Squires.

I can tell it's almost time for football.  Last night around 5:00 I had a weird impulse to turn on ESPN to see if they were broadcasting some game like Eastern Michigan at Southern Mississippi in the Kum N Go* Kickoff Klassic...

*that's the actual name of a mini mart they have all over the Rocky Mountain Region and the Midwest - I am still trying to figure out what bothers me most about the name ??? :D

snoop dawg

scandi....is it the fact that the stores are operated by beautiful girls wearing little or no clothes and the minimum purchase accepted by the store is $250?   :D...or so rumor has it!
