"it's not the longevity that matters, it's th...........oh wait, it's not the size that matters, it's the..............oh never mind.   back to football..thanks for the info on Carthage. I know they destroyed us last season. It will take us awhile to become knowledgable on the teams, etc. I know the recent history of our league, but not much detail on players,etc. Be patient with us, we'll get there.

I hesitate yet again to interrupt the scintillating conversation between Sabretooth, DAW and FTP because it's really mesmerizing stuff. Kind of like our very own version of The View.

Cal Lutheran got another mention, sort of, in an article about the death of Bill Ireland, the first head football coach and former athletic director of UNLV.

Named head coach of the Rebels on May 12, 1967, Ireland was lured down to Las Vegas to help build the program from scratch at what was then known as Nevada Southern University. His squad began play in 1968 and quickly found success, defeating St. Mary's College 27-20 in its first game, which was played at old Cashman Field. The Rebels went on to post an impressive 8-1 record in their inaugural season, only losing their season finale to Cal Lutheran, 17-13.

As for Carthage, the Red Men fka Redmen were picked to finish fourth in their conference, which I guess makes them the CMS of the CCIW.

THIS JUST IN:  According to CBS Sportline there is NO NEW INFORMATION about Cory Ohnesorge's performance at the Giants' camp.  Repeat . . . no new information, no update.

Fox news is speculating that the lack of news regarding Ohnesorge may be related to heightened concerns about potential terrorist threats based on Chertoff's gut feelings and the need to control the news cycle.
